But lost our old Kitty.

I would like to introduce the newest member of the family.

Boomerang. Our 12 year old femaled named Nala got sick last Thursday and when my DW got home she was laying on the entry way floor not moving. She had hypo thirodism and we had been treating her for that. She had lost a lot of weight and that was what triggered us to take her to the vet about a year ago. By the time she got to the vet Thursday she couldn't move and was blind. They kept her overnight and during the night she died. In the end it was an undiagnosed case of diabites that killed her. Her insulin levels were off the charts. My DD was devestated because Nala was her cat. So Saturday DD and DW went to PetsMart where they have pet adoptions every weekend. They spent several hours playing with the kittys and found Boomerang. She is a one year old long hair calico and is very sweet. Now we just need to get our male cat DC to be nice, but overall she is adjusting well.

That is a beautiful cat! I had one that looked similar when I was little. However, when I looked at the first pic you posted I saw the rattlesnakes picture. Holy crap, where did you find all of those!!!

I'm sorry for the loss of your cat. Poor kitty. :( But your new fur baby is beautiful and thank you so much for adopting an older cat. So many times people only want kittens and the more sedate older animals end up losing their space just because they had the nerve to grow up. :guilty:

I wrote this after volunteering at the MSPCA and watching the older cats staying in the cages week after week. I hope you enjoy it. :)

THE OLDER CAT.
I'm not so young or fair of face.
And there'll be times I want my space.
I might sleep more then be awake
But give me time... your heart I'll take.

I'm an older cat, my ways are set.
And you may wonder what you'll get.
But I'm calm and wise and you might find
That I can give you peace of mind.

I might be passive - not want to play
But before you know they'll come a day
When you're sad or down, I'll take my nap
And you'll find love sleeping on your lap.

I watch the youngsters leave their cage.
Their lives are new... an empty page.
But an older cat can teach you much.
And all I ask is a gentle touch.

Sorry about that picture, a friend sent it to me. Apparently this rancher near his hometown of Enid, Oklahoma was working on his ranch oneday when he came across a den of rattlesnakes. He killed 10 of them with a four foot stick, but realized there were to many so he came back the next day with something more substantial to finish the job. I think in the end he had around 48 snakes.

I'm sorry about your Nala-- losing a pet is so hard. :grouphug:

But what a pretty one you've gained! She's beautiful! :teeth:

Awwwhhh what a pretty kitty!! The next kitty I adopt will be at least a year old as well.

I am sorry for your loss of Nala.

What a beautiful kitty!!! She looks like she has made herself at home and is very content!
