My cat died in November and all 3 of my boys (2 sons and a DH) wanted to get a dog. I posted about that here a couple of weeks ago. I'm not a dog person and do not know how to take care of them.
Anyway, so I've been looking at cats on the Humane Society webpage and my 6yo has been looking with me. So we went to the HS on Sunday to look. We looked at 5 cats and the 5th one was the most perfect cat.
She's the friendliest cat I've ever know (and I've had cats my whole life). She's loves to play with the kids, even the 3yo. She even slept with us last night. She loves to be petted and she came and sat on my lap for the first time a few minutes ago. And she was purring up a storm! All this after only 2 days of being here!
My old cat didn't really like the kids too much. Never played with them, would occasionally allow to be petted. And only occasionally sat on my lap. I loved her and I miss her, but our new cat is just so sweet and lovey dovey and loves to play like a puppy. I couldn't be more thrilled. The kids love her to peices!
It makes me wonder how she ever ended up at the humane society. Who could have given her up. I have to admit, I was hesitant to go to the HS. I figured there must be something wrong with them for people to give them up. I know there are legitimate reasons to give up pets, but I could never take my pet to a shelter. I would have to make sure any of pet of mine went to a great home. But I guess some people do. She's the perfect cat!
Her name is Sparkle, but I want to call her Sparx. Not from the DISser, but from a video game, which I assume where she got her name
The boys keep going between the two. Actually my 3yo was calling her Sprinkles today.
So we'll see what ends up sticking. She's hard to photograph because she's been exploring and hasn't sat still.
