In regards to all the hoopla this week over some of the negative posts offered by CM(s) and fellow DVCers, I felt the urge to post our experience from last weeks trip at SSR.

I made the comment to DW how I felt that CMs seemed very friendly to us, even knowing we were DVC owners. And that comment was made days before WDWzues post was made. I still standby that comment. It seemed to be an even friendlier atmosphere than trips before.

There were a couple of CMs that were not so friendly, but not somuch as to report them. I have only had one CM who I had to encounter at VWL on several trips that I tried my best to avoid. But I never reported him. He is no longer there. Could have just been the wrong job for him.

Point of this is....I got the feeling that most CMs seem to appreciate DVC owners. And not just the CMs and SSR. If I were a CM I would realize DVCers are longterm guests, therefore, they would continue support for my company. Do they all feel that way? Certainly not. I have my own customers who I would rather not have to deal with all the time. But they are my customers, so I try to give them satisfaction within reasonable means.

And I dont bring this up trying keep a dead horse alive. I just felt with all the negativity floating around, and seeing how some of the new, just purchased DVCers are getting concerned, I would try to put my 2 cents worth in. I avoided the other posts on purpose, response wise anyway.

This is for CMs.........thank you for helping to make our times in WDW magical. It is an escape from the real world, and you help to make those escapes come true. Without you, there would be no Walt Disney World.

Thank you for that. Us nervous, newbies appreciate that! :flower1:

Thanks for posting your experience. It's nice to get some postive perspective on this topic. I'm sure the recent negative post from a supposed CM represents a very small minority of the CMs overall. It sounds like your experience is more evidence of just that.

We'll be at BWV in two weeks, so I hope the CMs are just as friendly then!

I personally think a CM's demeanor is more a response to the customers body language. I've never had an issue at check-in. When I step up to the counter I'll say something stupid like " I'll have the cheeseburger, fries .... ". I'm just having fun & the CM's play along and ten minutes later our vacation is off to a great start.

We've witnessed people at check in who appear to have been carrying a chip on their shoulder all the way from Moorhead Minnesota. They start their trip off with an attitude and then can't understand why the CM's seemed less then enthused to see them.

Smiles and laughs are priceless.

I agree with the above. Our experience with SSR cm's in october left nothing to complain about. Check-in went smoothly. If my requests are honored I treat the CM as if they were the one responsible for my great fortune. If my request arn't honored I still keep smiling and don't worry about it,it won't ruin my vacation. Upon check-in bell service's were right out to get our luggage and grocery's and immediatly directed us to check-in. Everyone throughout the resort was extremly friendly and full of welcome home's. Upon check-out bell service's came to pick us up to take us to the front and when I tried to tip him he refused the tip saying I was more than happy to help. We only stayed for 4 days and I wasn't sure where to take the trash(first ever member trip) so I asked the cm who picked us up and he said don't worry about it,I'll dump it after taking you to the front. Now if someone were to be rude to me I would ask that person point blank if there was someway we could resolve the problem that was causing the bad in counter, who knows I may have done something to offend this person and if not it must just suck to be that person. Susan

Thanks for posting this. I've never had a bad experience as a resort guest. I'm going on only my second DVC trip and I have to say my first experience with the CM at BCV was terrific.

This is a very good point. I'm the same way; start with a joke, or even just noting the CM's name and asking "So how is %name% doing today?". Of course, I find the same attitude works with waitstaff, too. We usually tell the server that we're "friendly, patient people who've worked in food service before" and not only can we often see the server relax a little, we usually get friendlier and faster service. (Which we show our appreciation for with a good tip.)

Letting a CM know that it's not your intent to be a "problem guest" can go a long way to starting things off right....

OK... timing is everything.. opportunity lost :guilty: I'll put one in yur column Viking..

To the rest of the board.. I promise to dust off my shoulders in June and be on my best "CM friendly" behavior. I won't even wear my "naughty or nice" button.. In return, all I ask is for Viking to wash his hands before handling all the cookies at member mixers.. .

Moorhead.. don't ya just love the name? Check the map, we are just south of Climax and Fertile.. seriously!

:D Cheeseburger and fries :) good one

My dad always goes around and introduces us all (ok - yes - I am 36 and he still does this even though our group is WAY bigger than when I was a child) to the wait staff. Sometimes they seem annoyed and those he works on harder until they at least smile.
