We found our college!

We went shopping for a college AGAIN on Saturday and we found the right one! I'm so happy for him. This one just clicked from the moment we drove onto campus till the end of the meeting when he met with the physics professors. He liked some of the others we visited, but this was THE ONE. Now to get the application completed and start waiting for "the letter". They say they have an answer within 30 days of receiving all the paperwork. Then the real trouble begins.....finding a way to pay for it. Hoping there is some pixie dust in our future as we can use all the help we can get. Ladies.....can I please get some prayers and pixie dust sent our way???

Our mistake was waiting until he was a senior to start looking. I was beginning to think we would need another year in high school to get it all sorted out. Most of the kids at the tour on Saturday were juniors and I guess we should have started looking last year. Who knew? We had seen several others and I was beginning to think he didn't really care or just wasn't interested, but it all just clicked here.

Did you sign him up for Fastweb for scholarships??? Look into that.. Have him stalk the guidance office at school for scholarships... and keep an eye out in the paper... Usually when he applies to the school they will send his info on to their scholarship department but check to make sure.. DD got her big renewable scholarships thru the university!

We just got a letter in the mail for DS16 (junior) to go to a college, attend lectures, and meet with professors for his major... He is pretty excited... He also has 3 other schools we will be visiting this year... DD is gathering the info for their school that she wants him to look at...

I will ask DD what the other scholarship places were she signed up for.. but tell him to keep looking because there are scholarships out there.. but don't pay for them... that's a big red flag.. you don't need to pay for scholarships or searching for scholarships.

Good luck with the scholarships. Make sure he checks in with his guidance counselor at school to see about local scholarships that are offered to students just in your community also. Most of them tend to be smaller, but they can add up!

Congratulations!! It is a big step - now on to the paperwork, visit with his guidance counselor, contacting local organizations to see what monies are being offered in scholarships, grants, etc...
We did it for all our daughters too, and it sure can be exhausting, but, oh so worth it!! Start gathering all your information now to fill out the FAFSA forms.

Woohoo!!!! Rachel has picked her school too. We are just waiting on "the letter". She is applying to a few other schools too, just in case She is applying for lots of scholarships. She loves fastweb! Good luck to your DS
