we emptied out "Disney" jar....I've gotta brag!!

We'd be saving since our last trip in '01 all change and any bills left over from nights out, a garage sale, etc....the final count was $1,823.59

We guessed (the price is right style) and no one was close.....lol we were over $500 off. No one had any idea that there was that much in the jar. My youngest DD (9) won $20 for her guess

We are going to have so much fun spending it!!!!!!!!

Yay for you!!! I am super impressed. I only save coins (however we use it for DD's milk money and church doughnuts!). I saved for almost a year last trip and only had around $200 bucks. I was happy with it until I read your post! Hmmm...I now have about 14 months to save....can I do it too??? Enjoy!

we have taken ours to the bank to run through the coin counter ( credit union) and each time we had $60 +....not too bad considering we only been doing the change jar thing since january
someday i will fill it up all the way before i take it in LOL- once summer gets here and i have other things to obcess over besides money for WDW ( i make wedding cakes and the season starts in 6 weeks- so my mind and time will be occupied atleast until october ) i am BAD, but it is nice to know that each time we changed it in, it was only 1/4 way filled, so full will be over $200

i do this, but only with change...i dont get too much since i dont spend tooo much money..but every time i have to pay for something, i alwayas use just bills---then put the change in my car...the end of the week, i put the change in a container

We have a change jar, but when dh noticed that there was quite a bit in it, he and ds (who's only 3!) decided it was going to go towards ds's first car, ugh! so then I decided to do ebay. I've made $300 so far and I thought that was great! LOL!

The best part is feeling like the vacation is free and you can also splurge on better accomodations or meals guilt free.

I want to know more about your jar, too. What size. What type. And most importantly - how darn heavy was it!

My dad has a big plastic one that some sort of chemical came in once upon a time. With a neck small enough to make it inconvienent for the change to come back out.

My kids emptied mine the other day into their own piggy banks (they are four and five). Mine isn't money set aside for anything, its just a place to collect change. I then sort out the pennies and my husband uses the silver to play poker.
