We booked our resort after many ??'s and many many many changes of mind... We will be staying at the Grand Floridian, GV Nov 29- Dec 9.:dance3:
This will be our first trip to the GF after staying mostly Value and Moderate resorts and we are very excited to say the least..
Any suggestions for our first night activities?
Me, 35, DH 34, DS 11 and Mom 60.

That's great!

I'm assuming you mean without going into a park? If so, we like to ride around on the monorail, and visit the other resorts. Being at GF you are in the perfect location to do this. Pick one of the other resorts to eat at. We like Kona Cafe.:goodvibes

If you are there in time for Wishes, make sure to watch it. A couple good spots are the dock at GF and also the beach at Poly. You can also catch the Electrical Water Pageant. We watch it from the beach at Poly at 9 p.m. Alot of times this will coincide with Wishes and you can watch them both. EWP also shows at GF at 9:15. Here's a link for more info- http://allearsnet.com/tp/ewp.htm

Alot of what you can do depends on what time you are checking in.

Have a wonderful time!

I just discovered this site, but I've been trolling sites for weeks now asking tons of questions and we have decided to book wilderness lodge from Nov 30-Dec 7th.

This will be our first time ever to go to WDW. At the time our girls will be 4 and 7.

We were going to book from Nov 29-7th but we found out we weren't all going to fly free using continental miles like we thought. Not nearly as many miles as we thought. We decided to shorten the trip by one night (which pays for the flights). This allows us to still stay at the wilderness lodge instead of the coronado which was our choice for moderate hotel.

I'm hoping the WL is worth the extra money. I'm also hoping it is not going to be too crowded.

We just booked the GF also!! We are sooo excited! Have a great time!

Let me know how your trip is because we leave a few weeks after your arrive.

Enjoy planning!

You will love the GF at Christmas. That huge classic lobby with the Christmas tree and gingerbread house are very cool. For you first night...I would suggest starting with a bang. If you have tickets to a park that day watch Wishes and Spectromagic at MK or Fantasmic at MGM. Nothing like those two shows to get you excited. If you don't have park tickets, maybe dinner at Chef Mickeys or the luau (do I know how to spell this? Looks wrong) at Poly.

The weekend after Thanksgiving is historically crowded but starting Monday Dec 1 it should be great. It is considered value season and the parks aren't too busy at this time. We are actually going to be there then also.
The Wilderness Lodge is beautiful and it is so easy to hop on the boat over to the Kingdom. It is one of the Deluxe hotels without costing as much. Even though it is not on the Monorail the convenience of the boat launch right there makes it worth the cost IMO.
