We chose the dark side - Carnival VS Disney

I wasn't saying that to bash Carnival. Just saying that it's possible that such activity was going on. I really don't have anything against Carnival (I did cruise once with them), but they aren't particularly high on my "must repeat" list. They are there, though.
My comment was not directed to you or I would have quoted you...it was to a comment higher up about someone who "heard someone on the cruise was smoking weed". I'm not a weed smoker, but it's becoming legal in the US slowly but surely...I don't like smoke though, so I hope it doesn't cross over into the cruise industry...but I can see it how..."medical marijuana" type accommodations might be filtering in. I hope not.

Any recent feedback on Glory? I know they have Guy Fieri's. Looking at a Cayman-Cozumel-Belize-Mahogany Bay 7 night.

We did the Glory in 2013 to Canada and we went in thinking we would not like it. We were so pleasantly surprised. Loved the room (huge oceanview) and the decor and the food was amazing -- even at the buffet. We tried both Guy's Burgers and the Blue Iguana -- amazing food and what a nice change. A little disorganized on deck where you walk up and order because it's near the pool and can get crowded, but the food is worth the effort. We'd do a Carnival cruise again just because of that experience on the Glory.

That "captain" is serving time in Italy. He's a disgrace to the maritime industry and to Italians. He's pretty much the most hated man in Italy. I listened to the Italian coast guard call mandating him to return to his ship to assist in the evacuation and he refused. Blaming Carnival for the act of one loser Captain is pretty ridiculous imo.

The Captain is convicted but under house arrest and is awaiting appeal. He is not in jail.

You seem to over looked all the others convicted people, including.office.excutives. this is not just one man cowardly actions

You also overlooked all the other accidents as point I discussed.

This is a company wide problem.

There is serious questions here.

However as I said everyone is free to cruise any line they wish.

YES, we are...I have had nothing but great experiences with Carnival and would encourage anyone to try them. I didn't overlook your comments about accidents...but I don't have the time right now to validate or refute your claims..though I have no reason to doubt that they have more accidents, they are a much bigger company.

I agree.

If you're tracking cruise reports of accidents, illness and missing -- you might want to include Royal Caribbean. They are developing a history of people falling off their ships :sad2:

Glory is a nice ship....Liberty is my favorite from the Conquest class...as far as decor goes...I loved the Promenade.

I hope you try their newer Dream class...a bit of a departure, decor wise, and much more understated.

I'd really like to try the new Vista. It's already getting pre-launch raves. Thanks. I will go back to Carnival also because they have some of the best rates in the industry -- especially if you want a 3, 4 or 5 night getaway.

Believe as you wish....it's kinda hard to refute facts.

Carnival's not the only one with problems. Heck, Disney Wonder was in the news a few years ago for a crew member exposing himself to kids. OUCH. The bigger line and the more ships at sea, the more chances of more reports under one name.

Let's review, thier is that famous inccident where the person fell off a carnival ship and the Disney Magic assisted in the search.

The Magic found the man, got a crew and lifeboat in the rough waters, got the man and the.boat back to the ship and lifted out of the water. The Carnival ship was never able to get thier boat in the water and was all tangled up.

I said he's "doing time".. as in not free....not necessarily "in Jail". But Italy's justice system is corrupt so I wouldn't be surprised if the clown gets off on appeal.

He's not free.... you mean like the time the Italian. Media filmed him out on a race boat with friends.....that doing time?

You heard about the guy who drowned at CC, right? Is that Disney's fault?

But not going to do the tit for tat with you as clearly you're biased and determined to shed a bad light on Carnival and turn people off their brand....Have fun with it.

You must really hate Carnival :rotfl:Go to cruisejunkie.com sometime for statistics. It's interesting reading for the industry standard.

When is your first one? You must post a trip report -- I'd love to read about it. Some of the pictures I have seen of the atrium are amazing.

December, Christmas week this year, and a June vacation next year. Yes, I will do a TR and post on CC.

Everyone keeps trying g to save Carnival

However when you have more problems then the number of ships account for it does not fly.

We've sailed Carnival a few times now although I can't compare to DCL as we have never sailed with them. We've always had very enjoyable trips on Carnival. I'd certainly recommend giving them a try. We found the crew to be very friendly and helpful and the facilities well taken care of. We sailed on some of the older, smaller ships and thoroughly enjoyed it.
