Hi all,

My boyfriend and I are in the very, very early stages of planning a trip for early September 2017 (that's our tentative timeframe, at least). We did a once-over of the resort list on Disney's official website to get an idea of the prices and have narrowed it down to WL, BC and YC (I know BC and YC are essentially part of the same complex but I know they're a little different decor-wise). We also have a moderate pick on standby in case these get too pricey by the time we actually book.

Are there any kind DISers out there who can help sway us towards one of them in particular? Some tidbits that might be helpful:

  1. BF wants to be close to Epcot because we're both huge Epcot nuts (also, I believe F&W will be underway by then and we loved it last time we experienced it). On the other hand, I want to be close to MK so I don't have to deal with the TTC.
  2. Transportation isn't a huge concern for us - I'm trying to convince him that renting a car's the best way to go - but having a good bus route will be a plus just in case.
  3. We aren't particular about room size or room view but I would prefer someplace that won't have a bunch of construction noise during the time we're there (haven't been able to keep up on the refurb schedule).
  4. BF wants a good pool if possible because he loves swimming. (I can't swim so I'm not particular about pools.)
  5. We won't have any children with us, so even though we don't mind kids I'd like someplace that's a little more mature.
I apologize for getting long-winded, I'm just a bit excited (and also tearing my hair out already). If you read through all of this THANK YOU! :thumbsup2

I would pick between the Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club. The Yacht Club was alittle dark and smaller (lobby area ) then the Beach Club (and farther from Epcot).
The wilderness Lodge theming is incredible and puts you in another world and its a beautiful boatride to magic kingdom. It has that Disney magic but the rooms are smaller and farther from epcot.
The Beach Club has a bigger brighter room and a huge pool but the theming isn''t anything special.
I'd go with the Beach Club and then visit the Wilderness Lodge (since its the public areas that are special at the lodge vs thebetter pool and room at the beach club that's exclusive to its guests)

I agree. YC/BC has a really nice pool area and you are so close to EC. The bus to MK is not bad. If you choose the MK resort area I would choose WL. I have taken the bus to EC and it is ok. The boat to MK is a fave.

Beach Club. I'm a total WL lover but if you think you will be spending a majority of time at Epcot then I woul;d pick BC.

BC pool is wonderful, and the walk to Epcot is really nice. Another reason to pick BC over YC for me is the location of the QS/mug refill that is shared by both resorts. One is located in BC, the other is at the pool. When I stayed at YC I felt like I was always walking to refill drinks, either at the QS or pool snack bar.

YC is my favorite resort of all on site and I've stayed at all except WL and SS. It is a little more adult themed than BC and just seems quieter and, of course, you can't beat being able to walk to both HS and Epcot. We have visited WL a number of times and will actually be staying there on a split stay this March. We were there last week and while you could see the construction from the boat, otherwise I didn't even notice it. You really can't go wrong with any of them, keep in mind if a balcony is important, not all BC rooms have them.

I just did my first stay at YC and loved the location. Its great for Epcot and HS.

I picked the YC because BC and YC are basicly the same and YC was cheaper. The only thing I didn't like about YC was the quick service was in BC.

If you can book now I might suggest trying to book a DVC on points. BC will be cheaper that way. Dave's Vacation Club is a place the Dis Board adversities.

If that doesn't work I would go WL. As for a moderate I would do Port Orleans River Side. I have stayed at all mods and POR is my favorite.

We liked YC better than BC because it seemed quieter. BC seemed to have more families and more kids running through the halls and making noise at night. You might also consider the Swan. It is much cheaper than the Epcot hotels and convenient to both Epcot and the Studios (can walk or boat to both) and gets most of the same perks as the official Disney hotels. You won't get Magical Express or have access to the dining plans, something that might be available at a Disney hotel when you go. We don't rent a car and for our 5 park days we found it easy to take a bus or to taxi (DH's preference since he doesn't like buses) to MK and AK since we only do a day each there.

For a good value and great "private" pools I would pick Caribbean Beach Resort. Me and my bf (now hubby) stayed there 5 summers in a row. Reason we love it is each house has its own private pool that is WAY less crowded than the main pool. Nice clean rooms and great price. Very close to Epcot. We always drive so I always recommend having a car, it's nice to be on our own time

I'm a WL junkie, so that's always going to be my first choice! Everything about it is a winner, in my opinion: food, pool, transportation...all are good!

As far as Yacht/Beach, we were there last week for dinner and a holiday character meet...our family preferred the overall feel of Yacht Club, but we liked Beach Club, too. We just preferred Yacht based on our perception of the "resort vibe" if that makes sense. It just felt like a good place to be :-)

We just returned from a stay at the Boardwalk, so being in walking distance to Epcot is nice, but we missed the feeling of the MK area resorts.

It's always a tough decision, I know!! Good luck, and happy planning!!

Since you're interested in F&W, I'd go with an Epcot area resort so you won't have to drive after leaving Epcot. I think YC is the more "adult" of the two you listed. It's a beautiful resort. DH and I stayed there before we had a kid. I highly recommend.

On the other hand, I want to be close to MK so I don't have to deal with the TTC.

WL it's a bus or a boat to MK, and with the other two it's just a bus, isn't' it? You only deal with TTC if you drive in.

I'm trying to convince him that renting a car's the best way to go

A car to MK means the TTC.

BF wants a good pool if possible because he loves swimming. (I can't swim so I'm not particular about pools.)

1. You need to learn to swim. Seriously. YMCA, go, learn. When going to places with water, you need that skill.

2. Does he do laps or does he just splash around? If he wants to do laps go somewhere with a decent, boring, rectangular-shaped "quiet" pool. If he just likes being in the water and lazing about, then any pool.
