Boo- I need to vent for a minute - hope thats ok... :sad2:
Ive posted how hard it is for me to lose weight, working out 2 hours of cardio a day, basically eating cereal and salad doesnt help.. well, I finally went to a doctor yesterday, and have been preliminarily diagnosed with celiacs disease :sad2:
I thought I just had 'stess stomach' or nerves - turns out, I cant digest gluten! Do you know how many foods have gluten. Im a friggen chef! How in the world can I not eat the foods I love to cook! or even normal foods at all!?!?
Im totally bummed -
I am still holding out for the 'we were wrong' phone call, although it does explain a bunch of things about me.
I have to go get a biopsy of my upper intestine ! EWW, I may faint right now! :scared:

anyway - i dont feel like getting out of bed today to work out :( Sorry if I killed the mood! gah!

Aw! :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: to you! Hang in there, and know that we are all supporting you :)

I dropped 12 pounds before my wedding and I put 9 of it right back on after. :( If you don't mind, I'll be an "after the wedding" bride who needs to drop those pounds!! DH and I have a contest going. The first to loose 10lbs, the other person has to cook dinner every night for a week. :)

I've ordered a bunch of exercise videos from Netflix and I'm going to TRY to get up before DH and get in a half hour of cardio. We'll see if that works.

Hi Ladies

Just want to say I managed to drag myself to the gym yesterday...now i just have to work on not eating french fries at lunch (going to try for a salad today)

keep up all the good work
also wanted to send a :grouphug: to Whilykit

and if anyone has an idea of how to get DH out of the living room while i do my workout tapes that would be wonderful...he thinks its so funny to watch me do them...

I'm sorry to hear that. I think it's becoming more common. I even read a thread about it on another disboard. Sorry I can't remember which one. I think it was the parks board. It was mostly moms saying how to deal with the restaurants at Disney and how helpful they were. You'll get used to it and just change the ingredients you use and how you do things. It'll be ok. You can become a great chef for gluten-free clients!!! Good luck!

I am having a bad day. :sad2: I just feel almost helpless to lose this weight. I am so worried that I am not going to be able to do it. :guilty: I need some strength from you guys today, cause I just don't have it. DF has been super supportive today. He has called me at work 3 times to check on me and to keep motivating me. :sunny:

Why can't I be as addicted to excercise as I am food? :confused3

We're here for you Whilykit! Don't be sad. Knowing this about yourself will help you to better give your body what it needs. It may also help you to stay away from fattening food products, and this change in diet may increase your ability to lose the weight. *hugs* :)

And Tinkbride, get up! Go workout! You'll only be helpless against losing weight if you do nothing about it! You can do it! :cheer2: :cheer2: *hugs*

Whilykit - I'm sorry to hear about this newest challenge in your life, but Moonpie is right. Maybe this is the information you need in order to start losing weight AND you'll feel better now that you know what to do to change things. :sunny:

Tink - Again, Moonpie is right. Get up and go to the gym. You may not feel like going but once your part way through your workout, you feel great! And you'll feel like you've accomplished something after you leave the gym. Even if you just go outside and take a brisk walk, you'll feel better and more energized. Give it a try. Whenever I feel like that, I take my dog for a walk and I always feel better when I get back. :goodvibes :thumbsup2

I am still waiting for my Buff Brides book to show up... I leave on Saturday to go to FL for my planning session. I wish I could have it before we left... well, I'll just eat healthy. It shouldn't be hard since we are staying at his parents house in Kissimmee. :Pinkbounc We LOVE free housing!! :woohoo:

Hey Girls! Thanks so much for all the support - I stayed in bed most of the day - but then read all the responses and actually went to the gym! And you are all right, This could be exciting, I will miss pizza ( a lot! ) but maybe I can create some new yummy dishes! Ill post some recipes when I figure them out :thumbsup2

How did everyone do today?( aside from my eyyore rain cloud )
Happy - yay for planning sessions! You are going to have so much fun!

I worked out again today. My fiance is complaining about us going to the gym so much. I've decided to go every day, except on the weekends. I'm hoping that when school starts I'll find the energy to keep up this schedule.

Have a great day everyone!

I am so frustrated. :confused3 I have been looking for a long time for that thread I read a while back. It was about how the different restaurants and resorts were for a mom with a son with celiacs. I know it was recently because I had never heard of it before. I never did find it, but here is what I found. There are a lot on the disBoards.

Whilykit, I'm happy you are feeling better! I did a quick Google search for "gluten-free recipes" and there's tons of information out there about wheat flour alternatives - brown rice flour, potato starch, etc. It applies mostly to baking I imagine but there's a great network of information available! You can keep your pizza (low fat of course...it's a dieting thread!) :rotfl: Cheers to you! :sunny:

Belle83007 - My name is Joan!! (I know, I'm very clever with my handle.) This is so funny! I only started dieting seriously in the past couple weeks in terms of watching what I eat. About six months ago, I started walking a mile in the morning and a mile in the evening. That helped me to lose about 8 pounds without really watching what I eat, just adding exercise. Now, in the past 2 or 3 weeks, I started really watching what I eat and going to the gym 3 times a week. I already feel and look better and seeing results is motivating me even more! My coworker lost 23 pounds on WW so maybe I'll try that next! I'm crazy about reading labels, though. You won't believe how much sugar is in cereal! I love Kashi cereal right now and I throw some blueberries in it in the morning. Yummy! Slow and steady wins the race, right? :p

Here in the UK, our pharmacies (and even lots of supermarkets now) sell Gluten free products so you can make or buy ready-made pizza bases, breads, rolls etc. Check them out and I'm sure you'll be suprised at what's available out there. Good Luck!

Hey ladies!! Motivation is more up for me today!! :cool1: I found this success story on WW website, I thought you might enjoy. Doing WW or not, this is still amazing..........if she can do that, than we can meet our goals too!! ENJOY!!

Also, A famous Oprah backed psyhologist once said, "this time next year, you will be heavier or lighter, chances of maintaining your current weight with your habits will be near impossible. So it is your choice, next year do you want to be fatter or skinnier?"

I chose skinnier!!!! :cool1: :thumbsup2

A really good motivator for me is Shape magazine. When I get it each month and read about all these people getting healthy it really motivates me. I got my subscription on Ebay for about $4 for 3 years!!! It's wonderful! Hope that helps some of you! I need my new edition now because I'm severely lacking in motivation.

A lot of the grocery stores here in California have lots of gluten free products, and Nob Hill grocery has a whole two aisles of gluten free cookies, bread, baking mixes, crackers... I know cuz one of my little first grade students needed gluten free treats and I would often get her some goodies from there.

Have a wonderful day everyone! :cheer2:

Whew! You gals are a wealth of information! Thanks! :)
How is everyone doin today? workouts? food?

popcorn::

Its pizza day at work....boo....guess i'll have to up the cardio from 30 min to 45....
Hope everyone is doing better then me

Tip for today:

My mom called me a little while ago and said Weight Watchers makes some kind of toffee ice cream bar that she bought today. She said they are 2 points and taste exactly like a Heath candy bar. She gives them 2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Now I have to run to the grocery store! ;)
