We call it a "Disney Moment"...

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this phenomenon. My mother and I call it a "Disney Moment". It's when a Disney memory totally transports you back to Disney World seemingly untriggered by anything, though sometimes by a smell. Like yesterday, I was doing something completely mundane, like washing dishes, and BAM I was in one of the shops in World Showcase with a friend of mine looking at Celtic pendants. It wasn't even a BIG Disney moment. It was actually a mundane Disney moment...if there is such a thing:confused3 Anyhow I was just wondering if anyone else gets randomly snatched from their daily lives and transported to Disney World for a few precious moments;)

My non-Disney friends think I'm nuts when I mention this.

It happens to me alot!! One of my most frequent "flashes" occurs when I am at Walmart very early in the morning (on my way to work at 6:30am). The folks are in the bakery and the combined smells of the baked goods (donuts!) outside ALWAYS takes me back to a churro stand in the MK! It's me and my daughter (now 20) and she is 4 and having her first churro. Cinnamon all over her chin and she has the BIGGEST smile on her face! We ONLY ever eat churros at a Disney park.

Every day. I can relate anything back to Disney. I consider it one of my special talents.;)

That is a special talent!!! We should put that to the test sometime. Sort of like those people who can find the 6 degrees of separation between any two people.;)

I had a "Disney Moment" today!!! I was at work walking outside and it was rainy with like 50 mph winds and suddenly I was in Florida last August during Tropical Storm Fay when my daughter and I trekked out to MK and had a great day!! It brightened my day!!!! Made me look forward to my next trip even more!

Just as I read these posts, I had one myself...interesting.

I have them all the time, especially when I think about my Father, which happens alot.

My memories usually flash back to my first ever Disneyland trip. . .Disneyworld was a thought at that time and California adventure wasn't even a concept. . .It was the parking lot for gods sake. . .lol. I remember being 4, and thinking I was lost, we were trying to go on storybookland canal boats and I thought I lost my gramma. . .I screamed. . .a cast member grabbed my hand and my gramma was right there. We ended up on casey jr train first then went on storybookland. . .just so I could get over the fright of being 4 and lost in a crowd. P.S. I wasn't really lost, there were just TOO MANY people for me. . .I was only 4 for gods sake. . .

(dang, I got to use that phrase twice in one post. . .lol)

My in-laws have been to disney several times with my SIL and her 3 children, we (DH, DD and I) went with them this past Nov and I was so happy to have come up with something new to them for us all to do (Illuminations cruise.) It was a big hit.
We are all going again in Dec and I have Disney moments all day every day as I read the Dis looking for the next great family outing at Disney that no one in our family have done/seen before. So far I have come up with the Osborne Christmas lights (free which is great) and for my in-laws and my parents (their 1st trip ever) I plan on sending the 4 of them for a horse drawn carriage ride to celebrate each couple being married 43 years.

I can relate. Often, it's just a sound or smell and, suddenly, a memory is triggered. It's a nice feeling to feel temporarily transported outside of my daily grind.

I have them all the time, especailly at work. The guy who sits in the cube next to me @ work thinks I am insane! When I have one it's enough to keep me happy for the rest of the day! They mostly are of some of the best memories I have with my Mom. I had some great times at WDW with my Mom. Another thing that keeps me going is knowing that I get to share and create new memories with my husband everytime we go!!

I have had those often, once I was at my college campus and was sitting under a willowy type of tree and it was quiet, it reminded me of the weird quiet that I get at D.L.'s Haunted Mansion.

haha lovin this thread! i posted a similar one up in UK forum few days ago about Disney smells, but yes i call it a "Disney Moment" too!

My sister and my dad email me weekly with their experiences of disney smells and tell me "i had a disney moment and i was in (insert disney park here)" lol

The best one was me and my sister walked out of a shop and this strong smell (i think it was of Epcot) hit us both and we just turned to each other and we knew what we were both thinking so we just laughed!! we musta looked drunk bumbling outta this shop giggling! :rotfl2:

I'm always buying different soaps depending whats on sale. One morning I stepped into the shower opened up the soap and it reminded me of disney, it must have been the same soap they used in the hotel all of a sudden I felt like I was showering up to go into the parks in the morning. Linda :)

ah .. disney moments. i think i have at least one a day. some days i just dont like my job very much and then i have a disney moment and everything is okay. for soem odd reason, mst of my flashbacks are me looking at the castle and just soaking it all in. i keep telling myself "199 more days to go .."

Every year, I take the water taxi over to the Boardwalk, get an ice cream and sit on the bench and look out over the bay towards the Beach Club, Yacht Club and the Grand Floridian. I am from DE and it is the week after Thanksgiving, so I marvel at the fact that it is 80 degrees and I am sitting there in shorts.

And each winter, when I am shoveling snow to get out to go to work, I transport myself back to that moment when I was sitting on the boardwalk in shorts eating an ice cream cone, in December just weeks before.
