As long as it's not a buffet, can my husband and I split a meal? I have a medical reason (I'd really rather not explain to servers) to limit fat and meal size. I'm not dieting, but I'm avoiding get flat-out sick. I would pay extra to add a salad and drink, and we'd tip like I had a full meal. I just don't think that an appetizer salad and drink is good use of a TS credit. I have been sick at Disney before, and I'd rather avoid it. Should I add the request to my ADR's as a dietary request so I don't have to find a tactful way to explain the medical need? I really don't want to tell them the diagnosis or the effects, kwim?

It would be fine to split a meal, as you said as long as it isn't a buffet or all you can eat meal.

You won't have to go into any detail if you don't want to. Just say we are going to order ........ and that is that. It shouldn't be any problem.

Other than at Beaches & Cream, I've heard of no one having problems doing this. As long as you're both on the same plan.

Yes, there were a number of reports that Beaches & Cream would not allow guests on the dining plan to share an entree. Don't know if it's still true but it was for awhile. Didn't apply to cash guests, just those on the plan.

You likely won't have to explain your medical condition unless it makes you feel less awkward to explain (and it sounds like the explanation would be more awkward). Just order the meal.

In addition to buffets and all you can eat family style, you can't share at CRT or Akershus, or dinner shows. Payment there is per person. You also can't share the skillet meal at Whispering Canyon without paying for both persons.

Great!!! TY!!! At home it's not complicated, but I booked the DDP totally disregarding that I really have to be careful at restaurants. I have reserved only places that seem reasonable to split if needed. I have to limit consumption of dairy, meat, and fat to keep from getting rather sick (veggies and fruits only with other foods)...no small task eating at Disney, but I still look forward to that challenge! We go often, but we eat outside, and I cook, so DDP is new to us.

Via Napoli would not let us split a meal even though all of us were on the DXDP.

Me and my spouse do this frequently at al a carte restaurants.

We tell the server that only my spouse is using the dining plan.

DH orders an appetizer out of pocket. I order an appetizer out of pocket and a drink out of pocket, then DH gets the dining plan entree and desert. I eat off of his dining plan entree and we each have a bite or two of the desert.

This way, we can eat at mostly signature restaurants, and we are not so full we are sick!!
