We both got real jobs: now we can go to Disney! Sept 2013 PTR! TR link posted 9/29!

Getting caught up on your PTR! Congrats on your anniversary!!! DH & I will be celebrating our 2 year anniversary in WDW this year, but in September it'd our 10 year "dating" anniversary.

I love DHS as a first-day park! I know it's a lot of people's least favorite but we love it and we're going there as soon as we check in (spoiler for my next PTR post haha). We ate at mama melrose last time and really liked it! It's probably the only one on the fantasmic package that I'd be interested in doing. I got the penne vodka and it was very good!

Just read "Day 1 plans! posted 6/25!" - trying to catch up:crazy2:

The time change for your flights is interesting. Maybe they have gotten more efficient in their boarding process and do not need as much time to get ready for taxi and take-off??

I am totally with you about early instead of late. I drive my kids crazy because they don't even understand why we need to be on time to everything let alone early.

Good luck on getting the Disney sign picture. Those seem to be so hit or miss. I am still using a stock photo because I have never gotten a good one yet.

We ate at Earl of Sandwich last year and really enjoyed it. I think it is also listed as one of the best CS values on the dining plan.

Disney Quest is loud but it can also be alot of fun. The last time my DS25 went with us it was for his 21st birthday and he could have spent the entire week in there and never gotten bored.

I am sure you will love Paradiso 37. We have never been but if you have checked out the menu and like what you see then that is what matters most. I think reading reviews can be very risky business. What is right for one person might be totally wrong for another. So I prefer to let the menu be my guide:thumbsup2

Love your new things list. I have heard that you can get a half price deal on characters in flight on groupon or living social(sorry can't remember which)

What is the Photo Shoot by Team Mickey? Is that just where you pick up the photopass+ card or do you actually get to have a photoshoot?

Where do you go to design a tee?

There is a photo studio in DTD that you can literally just have a photo session with for free f you have PP! Jut read that a while back! They usually have plain colored background like a studio would normally have!

Also the design a tee store is in DTD as well! About $20-25 and you work at little kiosks to design your shirts, they can say anything like 'Walk Family Vacation 2013' for example and of course you can pick colors and characters to go on and they screen your shirts right there! So cool, and on my list to do as well!!

Yay! Happy belated anniversariy! It looks like it was a great celebration! And yay for scrapbooking! Aw man, I got SO into it a few years ago when I still worked at camp. I bought stuff and started on my Australia trip and never finished it. I think I’ll get back into it when I end up working at Disney, because that’ll be a magical scrapbook!

Nice DHS plans, and I’ve started considering Mama Melrose, probably next trip would be a good idea, like, after Sept haha. It looks like the next logical step for me in DHS TS places!

We have pretty similar plans for this trip, I know there’s going to be so many things I want to do but I know it’ll turn into “start here” and then kinda go with the flow!!

Thank youu!! It was a good time. I so badly want to scrapbook more but it's just so time consuming and I'm just not creative enough. I'm gonna have to start having my grandma teach me her crafting ways! I agree, that will be an amazing scrapbook!

Most TS places are new to us because we always felt like stopping to eat TS would take too much time so we're almost blank slates so hopefully we'll enjoy it!

Yeah we discovered in January that the start here and go with the flow type plans are best for us!

Just finished the "The Shopping Update! posted 6/25!" chapter:)

Sounds like our summer weather has been the exact oppisite of yours. We live in Georgia where is is supposed to be hot in the summer and we have not even been able to use the pool yet. We have had nothing but rain, rain, rain!

I love your new luggage but my DD21 would love it even more. The Zebra look is her favorite. :cool1:

I also love your shirts. I think they seem very Disney. I even went out and checked out the Delia's website (I had never heard of that store before). Sadly it was a little to young for me but I did forward the info to my daughter because I think there is alot on there that she would like.

Hot Topic - another of my daughter's favorites. I also went out and looked at their tanks and I think I might be able to pull those off at Disney (I actually have cloths that I only wear at Disney;) ) So I am watching for sales now also:thumbsup2. They had a ton of other stuff on there that I think I need! The Disney leggings they have are just about the cutest I have ever seen. I am sure I am going to have to get some of those for my daughter. Would make a good Christmas present:love:

Stickers - I love them. Those and temporary tattoes. I have tons of them in my Disney box. I am one of those old fogies that would never dream of getting a real tattoo(unlike my DS25 & DD21 who both have multiple) but I do love to use temporary tattoos when I am at Disney. It is kind of a hobby of mine to search the internet for unique Disney temporary tattoos:rotfl:

How awesome to find a nursing pin.:banana:

Our weather has been on such a yo-yo recently. It was really hot, then the past week was rainy, cold and depressing and now we're in another heat wave. :confused3

Sounds like your daughter and I would get along well! My room is all zebra print. :rotfl:

Yeah, Delias is catering to a pretty young crowd recently. They seem to be trying to capitalize on the One Direction crowd :lmao: but once I make it past all that, I find some good things!

Hot Topic actually has a LOT of Disney stuff now. When I was in the store they had a Little Mermaid lanyard that I was gonna buy but I didn't. I did order the tanks the other day: they're running a sale for 25% off all tees and tanks!

I never thought about temporary tattoos! Those would be fun for Disney!

Thank youu! :goodvibes Wow 10 years is a long time-- congrats! How fun to be married and have 2 anniversaries to celebrate now!

I've been hearing more and more people doing DHS first! We love it also- it might be our favorite after MK! Glad to hear you enjoyed Mama melrose. It was the only one of the Fantasmic package we were interested in also. I love penne vodka so I'm glad to hear a good review! :goodvibes

You're catching up fast! You're awesome! :goodvibes

Hm that's a good theory about the flight change. I really don't know but it's the second time in a row that they changed our flight time by like 10-15 minutes and it seems pretty silly to me!

I literally drive everyone crazy whenever I'm going somewhere! I hate being late so much and if we even come close to being late, I start nagging everyone and panicking.

Chances are I still won't get a good picture. I'm just not fast enough with things like that. But, it's a good goal I guess? :rotfl2: Glad to hear you enjoyed EoS. I've never really heard negative things about either so I guess we're gonna end up choosing based on what we're in the mood for that day.

I have a feeling Disneyquest will be right up my DBF's alley. I'm not so huge on video games so we'll see how I fare in there.

You're totally right-- reviews can be dangerous to go by. Everyone has different opinions, plus every restaurant has good days and bad days.

Ohh thank you- I'm definitely going to look into that one! :thumbsup2

I'm glad Denovagirl stepped in to answer your questions because I actually don't know :lmao: They were things I heard of that others did so I'm glad you asked! :thumbsup2

Speaking of Earl of Sandwich, the are absolutely one of my all time favorites! Before I stopped eating meat I was OBSESSED with them. I don't know if you get to Manhattan often, but there is an Earl on either 52nd or 54th b/n 5th&6th. I know it well because the last time I was in the city, I ate there 5 times in a 5 day trip! They have the exact same menu as the one in Disney, but it is much less crowded.

Ah I knew we had one in the city but I never knew where! Thanks for letting me know. I'm definitely gonna have to go there one day!

Congratulations on the 5 Year anniversary! Looks like you guys had alot of fun in the Poconos (I can not say that word without saying it the way Rachel did in an episode of Friends when she was trying to teach Palo to say it (poke a nose:rotfl2: ). )

When I first read your update about the outlet mall I kept thinking that you said you got a pair of flats for $120. I was cracking up thinking you and I have a very different opinion on what is a deal at an outlet mall:lmao: Now I am thinking you got the bag and flats for $120:confused3 which makes more sense but still way more than I would shell out at the outlet (Not more than my DS21 would shell out though - she would think the flats for $120 was a good deal).

They just opened a new outlet mall about 3 miles from my house. The grand opening was last night and I hear it was absolutely packed so I plan to wait a couple of weeks and head over there.

I admire you for taking a shot at the scrapbook. I have tried it in the past and never completed anything. It is just not in my blood. I did find that creating my TR book was way more up my alley.

Sounds like you guys had a great couple of weeks:yay:

Thanks for the info. This is starting to come together for me now. We did this 2 years ago for my niece after she did BBB but I did not realize that you could also do it without a BBB reciept. I actually had no plans to go to DTD this next trip and now I might have to rethink just for this opportunity. I wish my DS25 & DD21 were also going with us. We could do Christmas pictures!

I also want to check out a design your own Tee. I have been trying to find a unique Grumpy Tee for DH so maybe I could get it there?

Just read - "Day 2 plans! posted 7/10!" - All caught up:banana:

DHS - Our favorite park:dance3:

I get totally confused when people say this is their least favorite:confused:. We always do the FPs for TSM first and then we head to RnR & ToT then Star Tours. We also make time to fit in all the shows.

However, the biggest most important part of our DHS for me is Characterpalooza. I love love love it and never miss it. We did it during our May/June 2 week trip and I got to meet 13 characters (most of which you will not see anywhere else) in 15 minutes! It was the highlight of the trip for me! I was very nervous also because I had always done this in the Animation building but thanks to Kennythepirate.com I found it and had no problems. I actually think it is way better now than it was in the animation building. Just be there before the characters actually come out. Very few people know about this so no one will be there at that time. However, the crowd starts building as soon as people realize what is going on. There are no lines it is just a roaming meet and greet. So you just have to walk right up to a charcter and get your picture.

I also want to meet Raplh and Vanellope and will be completely bummed if they are not there in September. We skipped them last time because the line was always at least an hour.

The same was true for Mike and Sulley. The release of Monsters University has had a very negitive impact on that meet and great line::yes::

We did Star Tours at least 20 or more times our last trip. This is Gabriel's favorite ride. There are like 60 different options you can get with this ride so if you only rode once before there is a good chance you will get a new experience this time.

One Man's dream is on my must do this for the next trip even if I have to go alone.

Your plans look great!

Thank you! It was a lot of fun and nice to get away from the rest of the world for a bit. OMG I quoted that episode SO many times while we were there, DBF was starting to get so annoyed! :rotfl2:

 I'm a pretty frugal shopper. I like nice things and all but I pretty much refuse to pay full price for anything unless I HAVE to have it, which isn't that often. Coach products are my weakness so when I found the Coach outlet, and heard they were having an extra 50% off everything in the store that day, I went for it! I feel like the outlets can be hit or miss. It also annoys me that, at least in the ones by me, all the stores in the outlet malls aren't outlets :confused3

Yeah, scrapbooking is definitely a time-consuming hobby. I really like the idea but I'm not sure I'm meant for it either. I think for our January trip, I would like to try the idea of a TR book and maybe for this September trip I'll look into the idea of digital scrapbooking.

It's been busy but fun over here!

Thanks for the info. This is starting to come together for me now. We did this 2 years ago for my niece after she did BBB but I did not realize that you could also do it without a BBB reciept. I figured the studio was the area for the BBB photoshoot. I never knew you could do it either until I read about it in another TR. I really like the idea, especially since I already plan on buying the PP+. That would've made a really great idea for Christmas pictures!

That sounds like a perfect Design-a-Tee idea! It seems that you can add any text to it and I would imagine Grumpy would be one of the character choices! :thumbsup2

:cool1: You're awesome for catching up and I really love reading all of your comments! :goodvibes

We really enjoy DHS also. I'm not sure why people don't like it. I guess it depends on what you're looking to do but we always find plenty!

Thank you for your opinion on Characterpalooza! I'm glad to hear you had a good experience with it in its new location. 13 characters in 15 minutes is awesome! I can't wait to do it!

Ugh hopefully the hype for Mike and Sulley and Ralph and Vanellope will die down a bit by September!

I honestly barely remember Star Tours from the first time so I'm super excited to ride it again! I've heard nothing but good things about it!

Thank you! I can't wait for September to get here! :goodvibes

Hey guys! Is anyone still out there? Sorry for my disappearance! Things have been quite crazy over here.

As some of you may know, especially if you're following me on Instagram, I babysit this adorable little munchkin. Her mother, for lack of a more tactful way to say it, is going crazy. She never went back to work after having the baby and her husband works 6, sometimes 7 days a week to make up for it. Despite being home all the time, she'd rather pay me to watch her baby than watch her herself. So essentially, her husband drops the baby off to me, goes to work and she sits home and does nothing (because she doesn't cook or clean). :confused3 One day, about two weeks ago, the husband picked up the baby from my house and found that she locked him out and left a note saying she doesn't want him or the baby in her life anymore. So we've had the baby here quite a bit over the past few weeks.

In happier news, DBF took me to see Taylor Swift in concert on July 13 at Metlife Stadium! I love her and this was my 3rd time seeing her on tour and she was amazing!

Also, I finally saw Monsters University and thought it was so adorable!

DBF and I have been watching Disney movies as we countdown to the trip and next up is The Jungle Book which I used to love and haven't seen in so long!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 3, September 12: Animal Kingdom with a dash of Magic Kingdom

Day 3 of our trip has us headed to Animal Kingdom! The park hours are from 9-5 today and we will be planning to get there slightly before 9.

As some of you will remember reading not that long ago, our AK day in January was FREEZING! I do not anticipate having that same problem today :rotfl2:.

We will head to Kilmanjaro Safari first and hope that these friends are back.

DSCN0824 by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Then, we'll be off to EE to battle the Yeti.

Chances are high we'll ride standby more than once (and hopefully NOT get stuck again) and then FP it depending on the return time.

Photo0750FourBySix by RN Courtney, on Flickr

Afterwards, we don't really have any set plans. We'd like to head over to Rafiki's Planet Watch early enough to see one of the procedures so we might be the first people in the history of AK to head over there this early.

As far as characters go, we seriously met every character available to meet in AK in January except for Minnie in her Safari gear. So, I'd like to head over to see her at some point. Also, we'll definitely be seeing the FOTLK so whenever we do, we'll probably head over to the Camp Mickey-Minnie area a little earlier to try to catch Poca (provided that's where she is in September! :rotfl2:)

We have a reservation for lunch at Tusker House at 1:35! We LOVED our meal here in January. The food was good and our server was amazing so we're hoping it lives up to our expectations!

Photo0905FourBySix by RN Courtney, on Flickr

If we have time, I'd like to see the Jammin Jungle parade at 3:45. We saw it on our first trip but didn't see it in January so we'll try to fit it in.

Our things to do that we've never done for AK include:

Seeing DiVine
Flights of Wonder
Tree of Life Trails

I predict we will be at AK right up until closing at 5. I know a lot of people don't spend too much time here but I always find us running out of time!

After we leave, we are heading to the Magic Kingdom! I've heard a bus from AK will take you to the TTC at MK. Any opinions on whether it would be better to do this or take a bus to the Contemporary and walk over?

I'm sure the MK will be busy tonight as it had AM EMH. However, this will be our only chance this trip to catch the MSEP so that is our main focus this evening. I believe Katt will be in Magic Kingdom as well tonight (yes?) so we'd like to meet up with her! Anything else we do will depend on wait times and crowds so we'll play it by ear.

So nice of your BF to take you to Taylor Swift, haha. Too bad about what's going on with your babysitting kiddo, but hopefully it's for the best I guess!

Sounds like a good AK day. Trust me, it won't be cold, at all. In fact it might feel the hottest of any park all week!

I really want to see the zebras too :)

We really liked Tusker House for breakfast when we went there, one of the best meals we had!

I also want to see Flights of Wonder this time since we didn't last time.

We'll probably go to MK after our AK day too!

Wow what a sad story about the Mom, Dad and Baby. Sounds like the mom is in need of some professional help. I hope she gets it and they are able to bring their family back together.

Great pictures of the the Taylor Swift concert. I just love her.

I have not seen Monsters University yet. Gabriel went to see it with his cousins so I will probably end up waiting for hte DVD.

Jungle book is one of my favorite Disney movies. I just love Blue.

Your AK plans sound great!

I also hope that the Zebras are back at the Safari for September.

Do they only do the procedures at Rafiki's in the morning? I really want to see one so need to make sure we plan for that.

We have never eaten at Tusker House but I would like to give it a try one day.

We really enjoyed the parade last trip so hope you guys are able to fit it in.

We love Divine. We did not see her on our last trip but have seen her every trip before that.

We also loved Flights of Wonder. That is now on our must see list for every trip.

We will be seeing hte Tree of Life Trails for the first time this trip also:thumbsup2

My advice would be to take the bus to the contemporary and walk to MK and avoid the TTC.

Wow, that is so sad about the mother just leaving the husband and the baby! Sometime I just don't understand how people think!

Looks like you had a great time at the Taylor Swift concert! And yay for seeing Monsters University, I loved it as well!

Day 3 plans sound awesome, how exciting that you will be going to Tusker House again!

:rotfl2: Not really his activity of choice but he was a good sport! I just hope they get everything straightened out soon!

I feel we're in for quite a shock with the change in weather this trip! I've heard many more positive things about Tusker House than negative. I would like to try breakfast there too!

Love love love Flights of Wonder.

I've heard great things about it! I hope we have the time to see it! :goodvibes

I agree, I don't understand either. Taylor put on a great show! They did a great job with MU! Definitely a fan!

Thank you! Yes, we're beyond excited! :goodvibes

Yes, she is definitely in need of help. She has a family history of mental illness and I'm sad that she does not recognize that she is afflicted with it as well. She let the two of them come home but I fear for the baby in her care because she seems so detached. She is 18 months old and her mother tells me she thinks she has behavioral problems and does things to "spite her" because she explores the house and gets into things. :confused3 She is such a sweet well-behaved baby that I just can't fathom her thoughts.

I adore Taylor and she puts on a great show! I hadn't seen the Jungle Book in so long but when I was little, I apparently loved it. We have home videos of me wandering around calling for "Mo-gweeeee"

I'm not sure if they only do them in the morning but I know both times we headed over there, the procedures were done for the day. I made a thread about it a while ago and some one posted that the schedules aren't made available until 9:30 the same day and can change a lot. The best advice I heard was to ask at the train station before riding over and they either know or can radio over to get you the schedule!

We really loved Tusker House! I hope you get to try it and enjoy it as much as we did. I wish I had unlimited time to fit things in! Every time I think we've done everything, I find 10 more things I want to add in! :rotfl:

Thanks for the advice. That's what I was leaning towards as well. Will it be clear when we get to the Contemporary how to get to the MK? I'm a little on the directionally challenged side....

My DH thought it was very clear but I was less sure so I asked the valet when we walked out the front door of the Contemporary. Bottom line is you will get there if you just following the sidewalk to the right when you walk out the door.
