...and went ahead and booked our December trip through the AP Best Rate Program. We're going back to the AKL for 5 nights the week before Christmas (16th-20th). We hope to be gone before the big crowds arrive. Anyone have experience going that week?

My DW and DD(3) went that week in Dec 2003 and we had the best time ever. We have been 11 times before and this time was our favorite. Great weather(cool),very light crowds, no wait for rides and best of all the parks were all decoated for Christmas. We are planning to go back again this year!!! The heavy crowds shouldn't arrive until aroun the 21st so you should be alright. We also stayed at the AKL for 7 nights. GREAT TRIP!!!

We have been twice at that time of year. It is really nice. Low crowds. Days closer to the 25th will of course become more crowded. We used FP for some of the headline attractions closer to Christmas. The weather can be quite unpredictable. My DH did not bring any shorts, and he had to break down and buy a 40.00 pair at MK one day. He was not happy, but he hates to be hot. You will need to bring a little of everything. We had coats on a few nights. Just keep checking the forecast before you go. You will have a great time.
