Okay - now it DOESN'T seem familiar anymore!

What cool stops along the way...that Route 66 still has something for folks!

That whale sure looks like fun - I may have to go for a swim! :) Then go down the road for some Pop!:thumbsup2

I think everyone is doing a great job!!
See Ya!

PS great cannonball Cat!!
Hmmmm....cannonball........sort of links in with my next cat-o-tar suggestion on the AC thread.

This has been some fun reading. I have been reading along and just never posted......thought I would do so now to say thanks for taking the time to share - this has been fun!!

Hey! Thanks for posting--I'm SO glad you're along for the ride! We'll be hitting the town soon! :hippie:

And 3G&G--welcome back, always good to see you pop in!

Hey everybody! Wake up! Enough sleeping--time to see the sight, I mean sights, of Norman!!!

First stop, Campus Corner for a great brunch at a fun little place called Cafe Plaid.

Now in case you didn't know...Norman is a college town, yep, the University of Oklahoma. What that really means is that it is a football town! So while Campus Corner is right across the street from OU, it's really for everyone, not just the students. Just be glad you're not visiting on a game day or it would be like this:

There are a lot of really great little shops of all kinds and plenty of unique places to eat. I think Starbucks is the only chain place except for Harold's which is actually the very first original location. Everything else is the creation of it's local owner. That's what makes it a fun place to go.

So enjoy all the shops like the Antique Garden, and the food. I'm sure 3g&g and Timothy will find O'Connel's or Brothers and have a really good time. :teeth: They have great food too.

If you want to venture out into the town a little, there are more things to do. For all you scrappers, we have a new scrapbook store (no pics yet) and another one that's been here awhile.

We'll meet back up later at Campus Corner again for dinner at The Hideaway! My favorite!

More on that later!

Ooohhhh, me too DisneyFalcon! I just sorted my kid's past 4 years (or so ;) ) school and family stuff and ready to get back scrappin'! Let's grab a quick coffee after our shopping spree! :thumbsup2

Hey guys, sorry to leave you there so long. But I'm really glad you enjoyed the scrapbooks stores and the coffee! I love those stores too, they have some amazing stuff!

I'll be out of town today and tomorrow, but am hoping I can still have some time tonight to get us rolling so we can finish up here and head toward Texas!

Have a great day everyone! :wizard: :goodvibes :wizard:

Hi everyone! I am catching up again. Welcome bytheblood, and great job tothesea...I do love antique shops, so I may be missing for a little while ;) Norman looks like my kind of town!

I wanted to take you guys here, not only because it really and truly is the BEST pizza around, but also because it's just a neat place to go! They showcase the work of local artists and if you see something you really like, you can buy it! So every time you go, there are new and different paintings all around you!

They also do a lot of community projects like bringing people together to create murals like these, statewide

And the pizza!!! 35 different toppings to choose from!

Hope you like it!

And the last stop in Norman, the annual Midsummer Nights' Fair!

Sorry no pics, just a short video...

http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1662504370

It's an art festival with so much to see! Live bands and fair food also abound!

The last night of it, I had you all scheduled in the talent/variety show, but it got rained out! I just thought it was high time for the "sisters" act to go on--SO many talented people on our trip, too bad you all didn't get to perform! :goodvibes Maybe next year!

One more day in OKC and then off to TX!

tothesea: you are my favorite person! As far as I'm concerned there is nothing better to eat than a yummy pizza! :worship:

And all those toppings! I would have to stay a long time just deciding. But I don't mind! It would be worth it!

Thanks for a super-duper suppertime! :thumbsup2

Yeah--and I like that store too because they have mostly new stuff (not just antiques) that you don't see other places. Have a great time in there! I also just saw a story from Money Magazine listing Norman as #6 of the 100 best cities to live in. I had no idea!

I'm just glad you could make it Cat and still have time to get ready for your safari! I love watching your Cat-ventures unfold!

Disneymommom - Thanks for the great trip thru the Bayou State. It was a fun and great experience!!

Suz D - You did a great job on the short journey thru The Hoosier State. I hope everything is going smooth with the moving. Keep us posted on how things are going once you get settled in.

Missy (tothesea) - I've enjoyed the trip thru the Sooner State. I just love the blue whale (and Cat's cannon ball!!!) Do we still have one more stop in OK???

Spreadingpixiedust - If you're out there, you're up next once tothesea is done in OK.

Cat - If we don't hear from Spreadingpixiedust when Missy is done, we're on to Bryan, TX.

Due to lack of participation, it appears this trip has come to a stand still. I know there are those of us that probably aren't interested in this anymore. Out of respect for others though, it would be nice to get this bus back on the road again.

Since the price of diesel is so outrageous, I had to resort to other options. I had a hard time finding anyone to help out. I was lucky enough to find a couple of people that were willing to try to give the old bus a push to try to get us moving.
