We Be Trippin': The Great DIS-nee Road Trip

I'm not sure if it worked (I should have looked at the vote count when I tried!), but I think it let me vote once through Mozilla and then once through IE. Then I voted again through a server RDC. So, if it worked then that equals 3 votes from me, and then I'll vote again when I get home (and I'll try the Mozilla/IE thing again).

I guess I could go to everyone's computer at work and try to vote for you as well...

Now that's dedication! :lmao: (I just voted as well, btw.)

hello everyone! sorry I have not been around. Work has been very busy. In fact I am headed out of town so will not be able to show you around my city. Sorry for the forced detour but I just got the word that I need to fly out today.

Tyler Texas will miss you!

No worries...

Should I wait a bit before I officially remove you from the itinerary, though? ('Cuz -- at the rate we're going -- you'll likely make it to your business-trip destination and back before the Party Bus even reaches Texas.) 'Just sayin'... (as AnnDisneyFan would say)! ;)

We are traveling rather slow....but it's such a FUN event when we're moving! This has been such a great idea DisGeeks! Maybe this "road trip" will go on long enough we can plan a gathering? The last stop could be a real one at Disney. :woohoo:

Yikes! If spreadingpixiedust is off the roster...that means I'll be on sooner!

Come back, soon spreadingpixiedust: ! We need more help covering ginormous Texas!

Our next trip will be June 2009! Any takers?? We're looking at June 14 - 22nd. This will be right after school is out (since my sis/BIL are school teachers) but hopefully before the intense heat and crowds.)

Of course, I could be convinced to do December 2009, too!;) I really want to go during the Christmas season to see all the new lights on the castle...but don't think it will be this year...

If at all possible, I would appreciate it if you could all travel slowly so that you don't get to Lousiana for another week. I am on vacation and have limited access to the internet so I can't be home to post!!! I'll be catching up Tuesday evening when I get home and can get back on line regularly!!! Have a good trip everyone and please drive safely and er slow! :lmao:

As our Party Bus slowly inches its way towards our next destination, a few of us have hopped in the handy DIS-nee Family helicopter for a quick, unscheduled side-trip to Pennsylvania.

(Actually, I recently posted some photos of the DISgeeks family's weekend trip to Sesame Place on "The Adventurosity Club" thread, and -- since we're all about travel -- I figured they'd also fit here... Anyway, thanks for indulging me! :flower3: )

(Side Note: The Petite Pluto (and Skinny Minnie) pictures are part of a "Flat Stanley"-style game first introduced on "The Top Three Meet Dis-nee (CMO Contest, Part Three)" thread.)

Introducing the latest member of the “Fab Five” to join the “Skinnies”: It’s Pint-Sized Pluto (also known as Petite Pluto). He joined the DISgeeks family this weekend in Langhorne, PA, where they played at Sesame Place and participated in the Sesame Place Classic 1-mile fun run. (Mommy ran the 5K, too!)

Pluto & Company ride the new “Sunny Day Carousel.”

(Ironically, shortly after these photos were taken, the skies parted, and the remainder of the day was spent in a torrential downpour. :sad2: Oh well! The DISgeeks family made the most of it. And, luckily, Pluto is laminated!)

“Can You Tell Me How to Get to Sesame Street?”

(That’s right, folks! Shortly after an announcement that the Park would close early due to the nasty weather, the rain subsided, and the sun appeared! Go figure! )

The DISgeeks family stops for a light dinner en route home to the DC area.

(Pluto especially liked the fried pickles and the mini cheeseburgers at Cheeseburger in Paradise! :thumbsup2 )

Pluto is on the prowl. Stayed “tooned” to see where he winds up next...

Yeah Pluto!!!

So I haven't been to Sesame Place yet...how does it compare to other parks? What ages are appropriate? And how long did it take you to get there?

Are there "busses" of folks that go there or is it more like a mom and pop park?

Thanks for the info!

Marshay! ‘Sorry for the delay in my response.

To answer your questions:

Sesame Place is a cute, little park. It’s fairly small and tucked behind a shopping mall, but don’t let that scare you. It’s an Anheuser-Busch owned and operated company – the same folks behind the Sea World and Busch Gardens theme parks. I find that the company does a good job of landscaping and maintaining its properties. (I’ve always thought that Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a visually stunning experience, anyway…)

And, just for fun: Little Man Poses with Cookie Monster.

(That last picture is one of my favorite photos from the DISgeeks family’s visit to Sesame Place last Fall. I even enclosed it in DS2’s birthday invitations.)

Although I haven’t visited Sea World in decades, based on photos and ride descriptions from the Park’s web site, I’m convinced that a lot of the rides in the kiddie section are merely re-purposed versions of Sesame Place rides. (My family has planned a visit to Sea World this summer – “blasphemy,” I know! -- so I can confirm afterwards…)

The Sesame Place web site identifies two to seven-year-olds as its ideal audience. (“Sesame Place is ideal for children ages 2 – 7. However the park offers fun family entertainment and attractions that appeal to all ages.”)

The most logical demographic would be toddlers and preschoolers, who love the Sesame Street characters. (This is evident in the Park’s admission prices. Anyone older than two pays the same entry fee! Plus, Sesame Place hours are shorter than most amusement parks', since – no doubt – its prime audience has an earlier bedtime.) That said, I’ve seen older kids happily partaking in the Park’s attractions. It’s half water park, and there are some fast-paced slides! Also, rides such as VaporTrail (a small steel roller coaster), Grover’s World Twirl (spinning teacups), Blast Off (a kid-friendly version of a free-fall ride) have a broad appeal, along with Nets ‘n’ Climbs, an overhead maze of suspended net tunnels. I might add, there also are character appearances, live shows and a cute mid-afternoon parade.

Click here for a full list of Park attractions.

We’ve never been overwhelmed by crowds. Then again, we tend to visit during the slower months (Spring, early Summer and Fall). ‘Might want to avoid the busier, hotter Summer months…

Overall, we have been pleased with our experiences at Sesame Place. Of course, we’re whimsical theme park people, so you might want to take that into consideration… :upsidedow

(One word of warning: We’ve noticed mostly high school-aged employees in the Park. Again, we’ve had mostly positive experiences, so this truly hasn’t been an issue. I just find it interesting…)

“Can You Tell Me How to Get to Sesame Street?”
Finally, it takes us about 3 ½ hours to get to Sesame Place.

I hope this helps! (Please don't hesitate to ask further questions! :) )

FYI...It DOES allow you to vote multiple times through different browsers!! This means BTM got a total of 5 votes from me yesterday on each bag!! :woohoo:

Thanks DisGeeks for the Sesame Place update! We'll be catching that helicopter and going to Hershey Park on Monday for anyone interested!

DisneyMomMom -- yeah! you are here! I really want to know what's in Dry Prong, LA. I've been to Shreveport and New Orleans and Emerald Hills, LA.

:santa: It's like Christmas for me...all the votes are just wonderful daily presents. :woohoo:

How many different browsers are there? I need to download them all.

I am hoping there are a few thousand browsers...that should help me. :lmao:

Thanks for the voting support. The funny thing is that you can delete your cookies and refresh the page and Kroger's system doesn't know you already voted, so you can vote again and again. I have a sneaky feeling that is the only way someone can get up to 124,677 votes. Seriously, the bag isn't that pretty. Take a look:
