Thursday morning
breakfast in the room

Today was great food!

Lunch at CP, we visited this last trip and loved it. This has
to be my family's favorite character meal out of the 5 or so
we have done. We had ps for 11:30 which I think is the first
lunch seating. They were turning away anyone without a
ps. We checked in and were seated about 5 min later. The
place looked beautiful, sunny, clean, wonderful atmosphere.
The waitress was very nice and got us our drinks right away.
We did the salad bar first and it was very good with a nice
selection for everyone. Fruits and hard boiled egg wedges for
DD and great ceaser salad with beef, mushroom salad, etc
for DH and me. For the main courses DH got flank steak and
pork loin, I had roasted chicken with mashed potatoes (yummy)
and a great pasta with chicken and mushrooms, I went back for
seconds on that. DD had nugets and mac & cheese. The desert
bar was great, we had delicious bread pudding, lemon bars
(very good) and cookies.
The time with the character was great, they all seemed to be having a good time, my DD loved it. Plenty of time for pictures
and hugs. I think CP will be a must do for us every trip!
Total bill with tax & tip $56.00

I was really looking forward to dinner as we had PS at the CG , and I had booked them at 6:15 to hope for a window seat for
the fireworks at 7:15. We had tried to do CG last trip but hadn't
made it so I was ready this time. Getting my family ready and
out the door after a long day EE at MK was a different story.
We got there not 20 min. early as I had been advised on this
board but about 15 min late. Still they told me if I wanted to
wait for a window seat I might have one in about 30 min. We
decided to not wait. When dinning with a six year old a 30 min
wait is a bad idea. We were seated right away and it was great.
We had a very nice window seat, not facing Mk but a nice view.
Our server David was great. I orded a vodca and peeky toe
crab rolls, DH had ice tea and asparagus soup with maine
lobster. David brought gold fish crackers and a sprite for DD.
Everyone was happy. David said he would time our meal around
the fireworks so after our delicious appetizers (the soup and
peeky toe's were wonderful) we went outside on the observation
deck. The night was warm, the music on and fireworks great.
I don't think I would worry about a table looking out on them
because having the music and being out in night air was so pretty. We had a great time! When we came back in David
brought our our main courses and a glass of wine for me.
DH had the Yellowfin tuna and he loved it. It was seared rare
and I had a taste, definately one of the best tuna's I have had.
DD and I shared the Pork Tenderloin and loved it. It was a great
choice for both of us. For desert we had the chocolate banana
bread pudding with ice cream. This too was a hit. We finished off
with coffees and enjoyed everything. Now at the very end of this
great meal and evening, DD (who is good at restraunts as a rule)
knocked over a water glass and it broke. David our waiter was
over in instant, he cleaned it up and made everyone feel ok.
He was great . I will definately come back here for the food, view
and service.
Bill $86.00 ( plus a rather large tip)

Thanks for the great reviews! I'm looking forward to parts III through X !

Fantastic reviews! I am really glad you had great service and a wonderful experience at CG - great service can really make a great meal incredible!!!!! Plus, I want to try CP, as well! :)

Hi there...

Your dinner sounded wonderful at CG... I would like to try it at fireworks time too.

What time was the recommended time to arrive to get a fireworks view table?

And if you do not get one.. are you permitted to go the observation area you were talking about?

Thanx!

P.S. - I think Crystal Palace is so cheerful and sunny.. it lifts your sprits...

Enjoyed your reviews!!
Glad to see you report on your "fireworks viewing" experience. While most people seem to think that a window table is an absolute must, that is simply not the case. In fact, CG is well aware of peoples need to see the fireworks and service is paced to accomodate that. These days, we don't even bother requesting a window seat. Just as easy to get up and walk outside and enjoy the show (as you did).

I think most people advise you request a ps one hour befor
the fireworks. Fireworks were to be at 7:15 so I got a ps
for 6:15 then come 15 min or so early and tell them you will
be happy to wait for a table. I however would not bother with
that, just get a ps for anytime befor the fireworks and go outside
on the deck to view them. Unless you are having cold weather
thats the place to be! Anyone dinning or having a drink up there
can then walk out to the deck and watch the show.

Glad you had a good time. We LOVE California Grille. I often dream about it back here in CT...right now I'm thinking of the salmon flatbread and pork egg rolls I had in February....
