We are on our way but it will be sad.

We are headed to the airport in a few hours. This will be the first time to have a grandchild with me. Cooper will finally get to meet Mickey! A very sad note though, my twin sister, Sherilyn, died in Sept and we were very close. We had lived together for years. Our trip was planned together. I know she will be looking down from Heaven on us and watching us have a great time. We are going to get a brick at MK with her name on it as a memorial. I think she would have liked that. I know it will be sad but she would have wanted us to go and have a good time. It will certainly help that Cooper is going. Keep us in your prayers as we go on with our lives without her. She was a wonderful person and a great sister!!!

So sorry about your loss. Prayers to you and your family. She will be happy knowing you are having and good time and thinking about her. She will be with you always. Have a great time with your grandchild Cooper. Great way to share/start some new memories. :)

I still feel my parents with me as I walk down mainstreet. They loved taking us to wdw, and thus and LOve taking mychildren now. MY sister and I were blessed last november to go together with our families and we both cried while watching the parade down main street. She will be there with you in your heart. enjoy, she would have wanted it like you said.

So sorry about your sister. I don't think they are selling the bricks anymore, the last ones were put in at the Ticket and Transportation Center. Maybe you can talk to someone at guest services to see if they have any open spots.

So very sorry about your loss....she will be happy to see you and Cooper at the MK. One of my good friends had a family trip scheduled for the last 2 weeks in November. Last tuesday his father passed in his sleep, suddenly. I told him that they should still go because thats what he would have wanted. He, like your sister, will be there to share your experiences.......

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure your sister will be with you and would have wanted you to go and have a wonderful time. That's the legacy of WDW we want to pass on to our children, that after we're gone it's a special place that will bring back wonderful memories of our times together and that they will pass on to their children. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I will say a prayer for you and your family.

I know you will have a magical time as she will be looking down from Heaven. I also think that the memorial is a beautiful gesture. One that will make you remember her everytime you go to DW. This way to your family can look up the memorial whenever they go to DW as well. She was very lucky to have you as a sister.

I hope this doesn't sound weird, but do you have a small momento from your sister you could take with you. It might be nice to have something you can actually touch and be comforted by during those times you're feeling a little down. Maybe a piece of jewelry, or anything that fits in the palm of your hand. It would be like having a piece of her there with you. I hope you have a wonderful time making new memories with Cooper, while fondly remembering the time spend with your dear twin.

Merilyn,
Wishing u all a wonderful stay in WDW. I know your sister will be smiling down on you all :grouphug: I feel this way all the time with my mil (who we lost in '04). She loved wdw. I always feel she is with us in spirit.

I'm sorry for your loss. :grouphug:
Isn't it fortunate though that you can celebrate her life @ WDW. It's a birth/death kind of trip. You will mourn your sister when you see the things that she loved. However, you are so blessed in that you have Cooper with you and that you can share in the awe and excitement of the little guy's first trip.

Hello Merilyn,

I just happened to be skimming the DIS boards and saw your post. I am so sorry to hear about Sherilyn because I know how close you were to your sister. Btw...this is Harriet from East TN. Please accept my deepest sympathy and you'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Take care and I hope you have a good trip.

Harriet

You have my sympathy. I hope that in sharing Disney with your grandchild you can also share something of your beloved sis so her story will live on to the next generation. :grouphug:
