We are moving to Celebration!!!

It's official, we are moving to CELEBRATION!!! We just signed a contract to build our home and it should be done in June or July. We have lived in the mid-west all our life and are ready for a major change. We went on the school tour in November and our kids are going to love it. I have never seen or heard of a school like that one, it really is great.
And to think we will only be 5 minutes from the MK... ohh such joy .

Just wanted to share our good news and dreams really do come true!

WOW! How exciting! Can I live vicariously (sp) thru you? I have been trying to move to Fl. for over 18 years now...ever since college...before actually....ENJOY...ENJOY....ENJOY! Dan, I may be traveling to Celebration next weekend to pick out our colors and options for the home. Otherwise, we would've loved to have met all of you at the DIS Meet. We live in Roscoe, about 90 miles Northwest of Chicago.

OMG! That is so exciting! We toured Celebration last time we went to Disney, it is beautiful! I would love to live there! What a wonderful move for your family!

Congrats! We have been drooling over Celebration for 3 yrs now. In a few years we'd like to rent there for a year as a "test" to see if we'd really like it.

But my question for you is, Could you elaborate on your opinion on the school? I have never visited, but in my readings I am getting the opinion that the school is not what it was first visioned to be. Also it is only for kids in Celebration? The school is our biggest priority. I've been to the school Website and it is impressive.

Priorities, Tom!!!! Pizza or picking options for your new home in Celebration?

disneyelaine, the school right now is 80% Celebration and 20% bused in. The students that are bused in have to enter a lottery in order to be chosen to be able to attend Celebration. Eventually it will be 100% Celebration when the Community is complete. They have built a new High School that will open in the fall. I highly recommend you take the school tour, it is offered every Saturday and it is very impressive. It truly is amazing what they offer the students. We feel like we will be sending our kids to the best private school, but it's free and public. We were very impressed with the Neighborhood style classrooms and they encourage parental envolvement. We will be able to eat lunch with our kids in the school cafeteria everyday if we want to.
We left the tour with goose bumps.

How cool! I would love to move there, I think.
My biggest concern was the school though just because I read that book about the family who are journalists that moved down there for a year or so. They seemed to think people were not happy with the school. Maybe that has changed though. Anyway, I would love to tour it or even just go there and see the town. It is so beautiful and appeals to me.
