We are looking at an Adventure by Lynx bus

Hi Fellow Disney Lovers,

We are looking at doing something unique for us. We plan on taking the Lynx bus (buses) to other areas of Orlando for groceries, dinner, just for the adventure. I do know that we can have groceries delivered or that we can rent a car for a day, but we want to try the bus.

I have found information about Goodings Supermarket and I know that I can also go to Walmart or Whole Foods (as well as many others).

Can you share your thoughts about the Crossroads or Goodings? Is there an Orlando area (off property) restaurant that is one of your favorites?

We don't have kids so we have the time and I look forward to reporting back here once we return in late May.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you can provide!

Paula

Goodings is a lovely grocery store but it is extremely expensive in comparison to a Publix or similar. That shopping center has a few stores and restaurants but I wouldn't consider it worth a trip personally.

Something that might be of interest is the Disney outlet store just on the other side of the highway from the Crossroads in the outlet mall. Its a very nice mall and there's a lot of good shopping there, but it has all the same stores as any other outlet mall.

Crossroads does have a lot of restaurants. I know I am forgetting some but you will find Fuddruckers, TGIFridays, Sweet Tomatoes, Red Lobster, Perkins, Uno Pizza, Chevy's, McDonalds, Johnnie's Hideaway. As the PP stated, Goodings grocery is very expensive.

We do Sweet Tomatoes at the Crossroads Shopping Center at least once during any trip that we have a rental car. On our most recent trip, last month, we also discovered the seasoned thick crust pizza at Flipper's Pizzeria -- OMG!

I'm not sure I'd do the 1.3 mile walk from SSR or even ride Lynx to get to either, but they're both restaurants we enjoy.

If you're going to Goodings, you may want to pack one of your re-usable shopping bags from home. It will serve two purposes. On your trip there, you can use it to carry all the cash you'll need. On the way home, you can use it to carry the few groceries you were willing to purchase at their prices. (Of course, I'm just being overly dramatic here. Goodings will be more than happy to take your credit card for their over-priced groceries.)

I'd check to see if there was a Lynx bus down Apopka Vineland that could take you to the Winn-Dixie.

Following some mishaps, we took the Lynx bus from the TTC to the Airport in March for only $2 a person. It did take over an hour, but we weren't staying at Disney, and found it an affordable way to get to our flight home.

There are so many enjoyable things to do I am amazed going to Goodings would be on any list. It is a very overpriced grocery. :scared: I would think the gift shop prices were about the same.

But if that what you enjoy:upsidedow

Thanks all! I will check out the outlets too. I understand that Goodings is quite expensive, but it is much closer than the other markets that we have mapped. Having always arrived at MCO, gone directly to WDW and stayed on property the entire visit, we look forward to looking around a bit...then we can head back to the pool. ;)

I though ABL (Adventure by Lynx) was a high point option? ;)
