We are Imagineers! Task: Improve Hollywood Studios

Why couldn't they keep "Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey" I really liked that attraction.

To make Hollywood Studios better I would add more of the backstage stuff. I think "The Great Movie Ride" would be better if there was more of an interaction between the ride operators and the riders. Maybe more of a question and answer type deal.

Any New Yorkers here to help with the design of this mini ny we've got going here...we need broadway, time Sq, 5th avenue...and then as it moves out of the main park we have a hotel that combines both deluxe and moderate rooms (deluxe for the main 'skyscrper and sububan New York for the moderates)

This REALLY REALLY needs to happen I've started to fall in love with it

I agree... on the outside the park really seems to scream "Movies, Showbiz, Hollywood" but the deeper you dig I believe a lot of the attractions don't relate that well to the theme of the park.

I do think they have some things right.

Great Movie Ride (classic films)
Tower of Terror (assoc with Twilight Zone)
RNRC (assoc with music and aerosmith)
Indy Stunt Show, Lights Motor Action (movie making stunts)
American Idol (reality television, music)
BNB, Mermaid, Playhouse Disney, Fantasmic (all assoc with either broadway, musicals, or the idea of putting on an elaborate show)
Magic of Disney Animation (animation)

Other things not so much...

I hate to say this but I think the attraction that really doesn't fit with the parks them at all too me is...... the beloved... Toy Story Mania...

This attraction however fun, engaging and awesome has nothing to do with the theme of the park. I like it but I think honestly it's better suited for the MK... I think MOnster's Inc Comedy Warehouse is a much better fit for the studios... however I am aware that it needed an E-Ticket... and I think TSM could have fit in if they would have just altered the script a bit.... Maybe even tried to play the video game card as a form of modern day entertainment.

And I think by just saying... Toy Story is a movie and the park is about movies so it works is really underselling the creativity of the imagineers... They can think of a better way to tie these two together.

More to come later.

What I'd really love to see is what had been planned for a lot of parks but never fully realized: a theatre where classic Disney movies/shorts/etc would be played at certain times of the day. Perhaps around the theatre a few exhibits about making the movies, possibly with some memorabilia.

There should be a deli of some type in the New York area.

Also, street performers, such as the people in Times Square that are painted in silver and stand as statues and interact with the crowd.

I also wish they'd film some sort of TV show there, just to make it seem STUDIO like. Or maybe even have a fake movie set, and have the premise be that the star has quit, and they need an audience member, pick someone...I dunno where this is going really.

And update the Great Movie Ride!

Fantastic idea a deli would be amazing!!! and aww I love the great movie ride so much but yes it does need a little something

I'd also love to see in the next 10 or so years where guests can play parts in classic films...fully interactive and incredible (4D 360 amazingness) CGI will need to improve but wow when it does...:dance3:

I liked how they used to have guests play roles in films and TV shows. I remember an ESPN Sports Center set where you got to go on stage and be filmed.

Also, Star Tours definitely needs to be updated.

I agree that Star Tours needs to be updated and a Wizard of Oz ride would be great. Especially if it were multi-media (like the Mummy ride at you know where).
I would also like to see better merchandise at the stores that line the boulevard. The facades of the shops are so enticing, then you go in and it's the same rehashed merchandise.

oh i totally agree about the stores!!!! unfortunately most of the disney parks could do better in that regard

How about on your "Streets of New York" section, they include a fully operational theater where they run the full-scale productions of the Disney plays on Broadway. Yes, you have to pay extra like La Nouba.

I also want to see the Beast's castle from Beauty and the Beast. In the mornings, the castle is run down and "cursed." Around lunch, they run a show on a large stage/balcony. We watch the end of the movie, with the battles, and the Beast's transformation. Then the entire castle transforms into the beautiful place it is at the end of the movie. You could do it with rotating walls, smoke, and fireworks.

WOW the castle idea is amazing!!! we really need a real imagineer to read this thread now, I think we've hit upon something!

twice we've decided against going to NY to go to disney (most people think we're crazy) so an NY in disney, what could be better?!

Again....the stores use to have all sorts of stuff. It has changed over they years. I loved the 5 and dime mercantile(?) It was on the corner on the right as you frist came in. The one next to the photo place. It had all kinds of merchandise from classic TV and movies.

Change the movies at Sci fi there are lots of bad b grade movies to show so lets have some new ones. Update the Indianna Jones stunt show make it good for the latest movie.

There are so many things that could be done IMHO. It would be great if they developed an entire theater district with full feature 1 hour long shows of The Little Mermaid, The Lion King,Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beast. Also more Villains!! The Villains in Vogue shop can feature so much more than it does.
Enough with the HSM. Bring back the traditional/ classic TV to go along with the actors walking around the park.

I haven't thought too much about this idea, so it's not fully developed. Let's see if I can explain it:

So, there should be something, some kind of guest-interactive show that they film in the Studios and put on the TVs in the hotel rooms, on its own channel. Maybe a recreation of Disney Broadway shows, with a few actors in there to help the guests along. Obviously the shows would be shorter, rather a condensed version of the Broadway shows, but it would still be fun. And it would be fun for other guests in their room for a nap or something to watch others having fun!

(I'll post more when I've thought this out a tad more.)

haha meg that's amazing! you and me, we're going to disney and we're pitching these ideas!!!! how could they possibly say no?!!! lol

Updating Star Tours is on the top of the list. I'd like to see maybe half the simulators on the updated attraction and half stay the same. Lot's of people still love the old attraction. And when/if Disney updates it, it better not be a podracing scene because imo, that was the worst movie of the Star Wars saga.

Personally, I like the Great Movie ride right now but attractions can always be added on to. There's been ideas about a Wizard of Oz attraction, but the problem is, Disney really isn't trying to market/promote that movie so I don't see that happening.

Bringing Monsters Inc. Comedy Club over from the MK would be great, but what would replace that spot over in Tomorrowland? I also love the door vault rollercoaster idea that would be put in Pixar Place.

Finally, I believe that the Backlot Tour should be restored to its former glory. Since the fat Lights, Motors Action! stage is now in it's former path, maybe move the Backlot Tour somewhere else or just remove it if it's not going to be a good ride and replace it with maybe a Cars themed attraction.

Oh yeah! :cool1: There's no way they could turn us down! We would be honorary Imagineers. ;)

I think they should create an attraction based on LOST. They could take an area and recreate sets from the Island with a couple of rides.
