Well, we made it down yesterday afternoon and got checked into the Peacock Suites. The hotels is decent. We're staying with Shell Vacations timeshare points and have 2- 2 bedrooms and 1-1 bedroom for all our family. It was easy to check in and even though they are undergoing maintenance right now I haven't heard anything yet. THe room is not super big for a 2- bedroom but it's fine for us and our 2 little ones (almost 2 and almost 6). Hubby just went down to check out the breakfast,s o I'll post more on that later.

After we checked in we hopped on the Anaheim transit right out front of the hotel. Super easy, and convenient. It was a short drive to downtown Disney. We had dinner reservations at Rainforest Cafe for 10 of us, and they had everything already setup and took us upstairs. The kids liked it, although the second thunder storm scared my very tired 2 year old a bit. She got over it by the next one. I didn't remember the food being anything to write home about last time we were here in 2008, but my meal last night was delicious. I had a chicken wrap and the BBQ sauce was so good. It seemed the general consensus was the food was good. We had 3 free kids' meal coupon and they accomodated us using all of them. Service was also impeccable. We then walked around DTD a bit but the little ones (add another 1 and 3 year old to my two) were already tired and fussy.

We hopped on Anaheim transit again and were the first stop home. I was worried about staying a bit further away, but so far it hasn't been an issue. It's 7am and we're having breakfast and getting ready for our first day in parks. We're doing Disneyland today!!! The kids' are excited and so am I. Today's weather says 57 and rainy with wind. It looks cloudy out and a bit breezy but nothing too bad yet. We're going to chance it anyway!

Any Disneyland in the rain tips?

I'll post more later!

Ponchos! I hope it rains next month when we're there! Have a great time!

Glad to hear your positive review of Rainforest Cafe! I also have a free kids coupon and wanted to use it but had heard so many poor reviews on here.

Glad to hear a positive recent one!

As Corkevem said- Ponchos! We love our Disney ponchos that we got for the rain a few months ago. We picked ours up at the shop outside GRR.

Glad you're having a good time so far. We also loved the ART system. It makes staying at hotels not on property easy to get to.

Have a great trip, and tell us more when you get a chance!

Enjoy, we like the Peacock. We will be checking in on Friday night actually. :) ART isn't terrible but there are some downsides to it. We have AP's with free parking so we just drive and park. Ponchos are great for the rain, we also like to take sham-wow's with us to wipe down the seats as we board, we just take ziploc bags to store them in when they aren't being used, works great for us. :)

Great idea! There's nothing worse than walking around with a wet butt.:headache:

:lmao:

Hope you're having a great time!! Can anyone tell me where to get discounts or coupons for Rainforest Cafe?
Thanks!!

Day 1-
Love the idea about Sham-wows. I wish I knew that sooner LOL. Day 1 went great. The breakfast at the Peacock Suites was not that great so I appreciate the fact we brought stuff with us! We got to Disneyland via ART around 950am. Easy on the ART, easy off. Easy into Dland. We stopped at the Jolly somethign or other bakery for coffee and it took awhile, but the latte was decent and it let us out just in time for rope drop. Hubby went to grab Indy fast passes. When he got back we did Space Mountain twice. Buzz and the Astro orbitor. No rain at this point. We headed over to Indy and the rain just set in. My almost 6 yr old was a little scared of Indy, but at the end LOVED IT! It was now officially raining. After all family went on Indy, we headed to Critter COuntry.

Lunch at the Hungry Bear (is that the name???). It was ok. We were ravenous by now, so it went down all the same for a $35 lunch. The little ones loved the Pooh Ride and Pooh meet and greet. It was still rainty at this point so we headed toward the carousel. Stopped off at POC for a 5 minute wait and when we got off it was pouring! We lost everyone else in our party, but our girls went on. The little one fell asleep in the stroller so we took the big one on Snow White's and then waited to see the princesses at the princess fantasy faire. She saw, Snow White, Aurora and CInderella and was beyond thrilled. Only a 20 mintue wait. At this point, with the rain, the waits were awesome! We stopped by the Mad Hatter and bought ponchos. Best $30 investment! We did the carousel, Astro orbitors, buzz and dumbo before we finally caved at 530pm.
We hit ART and just missed the bus so we waited another 15 minutes and headed back. All in all, the girls were awesome and it was a great day! We're heading out to DCA tomororw!!! I think.

Thanks for the details! I am enjoying your end-of-day updates instead of waiting for the big overview once you're done. Helps me feel like what to think of or do in the moment rather than with hindsight. Looking forward to more!

Thanks. I figure by the time I got home and had time to post one long report, I'd probably forget half of what we'd done. It's 7am and the girls slept so good! We're having breakfast and will head out shortly YAY.

Right? LOL I love having them!! :)

We have received them during our last 2 stays at the Peacock, but other hotels don't hand them out. Check their website. :)

While the breakfast at the Peacock isn't great, it's heads and shoulders above the ones served at other area hotels, IMO the best free breakfasts are the Peacock and Candy Cane Inn. :) Sounds like a great trip so far!! :) I mention the Shammies every time I post in a rain thread, they really are great! Now you know for next time. :) It was raining on our last day our last trip, I posted to FB that DLR was crying because we were leaving. lol

How are the rooms at the Peacock? Did you get one that was recently renovated?

@ Pixie- We are not in a renovated room. In fact, nobody in our party is. However, we have a 2-bedroom suite and it's clean and large enough for us. The work they are doing has not been an issue either.

Day 2- DCA
Breakfast at the hotel again. Hopped on ART around 930am and headed for Disney. We did DCA today. Started off on Soarin (20 minute wait) and grabbed fast passes for another ride later. DD (almost 6) loved it and went back on again with the grandparents. My sister in law and I went on Tower of Terror (10 minute wait) and it was so fun. The guys took the kids to the Disney Jr. show and they really liked that. We saw Sully back on the lot too. We then walked over to Bugs Life and the little ones got to do some rides. THey guys did ToT while we were in Bugs Life and said it was a 15 minute wait and my 6 year old went on and loved it.

THis time for lunch we brought in sandwiches, snacks, fruit and ate over by the Corndog stand. Then we took the kids on the Jellyfish ride (no wait), the swings
(5 minute wait) and headed to Screamin for fast passes (20 minute fast pass wait). We had so many fast passes for Screamin between all of us, so I rode twice and DD (6) rode twice. She loved it! Her new favorite she says. I met up with a local friend while everyone else did Screamin. We headed back around the water and let the little one run around a bit. Then we did Ariel's (5 minute wait) and it stopped twice in the middle of the ride which was annoying, but was fixed quickly. We went to the pier and had some snacks and then did Bugs Life a bit more. The guys grabbed Soarin fast passes while we were in Bugs Life, so when we were done there we did Soarin again (15 minute fast pass wait). It was getting chilly and late, so we headed to the bus stop and came back. Getting ready to go grab some dinner.

Tomorrow's plan is Ariels Grotto for the princess lunch and Disneyland and DCA in between. Disneyland opens at 6am so we'll be out early!!!

I look forward to hearing about the AG lunch. We plan on doing that in May.

It sounds like you're having a great time! I hope we get into a renovated room this weekend but I'm not holding my breath. lol

Thanks for the Rainforest Cafe link. However...when I printed them out...it shows an expiration date of 12/31/11. Anyone know if they are still accepting them?

Right? LOL I love having them!! :)

I think the best is RI Maingate!

I've never stayed there Jack, I can only comment on where I've stayed. :)
