We Are Going to Drink Mickey Under The Table! March 09' TR!

After having our pictures taken, we ventured off to our first ride of the day – The Great Movie Ride. There was no line at all and we were able to walk right onto our tram. This was the first time that I been on the ride when our tram was taken off by a Cowboy, and not the Gangster. It was a nice change. After visiting our favorite scene from movie classics, we then headed over to the Muppet Show.

After the show, Jen decided that my new nickname would be Beaker. For those of you that aren’t familiar with this particular Muppet Character, here he is:

I tend to mumble and talk softly a lot so throughout the trip whenever I would do that Jen would start “meeping” at me.

Since I had such a cool new nickname, I decided to into the gift shop and buy a bright orange Beaker shirt. (I can’t seem to find a pic of it now, but if I do I’ll come back and add it.) Ashley also bought an Animal shirt.

After Muppets, we decided to head over to the Animation Studio. On our way there, we almost stopped at the Voyage of the Little Mermaid as none of us had seen it before and Dan is fan of the redheads, but the line was a bit long and we figured we could always come back later.

We arrived at the Animation place and had just missed a group that had done in so we waited outside for a few min before we were allowed in. The intro show with Mushu was cute, and after it was over we were able to explore the displays they had setup for UP – which was going to be released in the next few months. We tried to go into the drawing class since none of us had ever done that before either, but we had just missed one. Jen really wanted to wait for the next one, but we wanted to hit up the Stunt Show and were cutting it too close to stick around much longer.

We then headed over to the Stunt Show via the Backlot and picked up some cold beverages along the way (our alcohol spreadsheet was already coming in handy!) and were off to see some cool car tricks. Before we left for the trip, Jen had burned a copy of the Modern Marvels Disney episode where they discuss “behind the scenes” stuff so it was neat to watch the show having known some of their “secrets.”

After the show was over, we decided it was time to head back to the resort to hang out a bit before heading to Magic Kingdom that evening (where the big surprise would take place!)

On our way out, we passed by the American Idol photo-op spot so we stopped for a min as it is one of our favorite shows. We didn’t stay to see any actual performances that day, but knew we would be back later in the week to see one.

Next up our night in Magic Kingdom and an Engagement Surprise!

You may have to share these booze spreadsheets. lol Subbing, sounds like my kind of trip.

Are you planning on taking your kids to Disney Quest this summer, or gonna wait another few years? You can have your mom take them so you can enjoy a shopping spree at DTD!

That's a good question. I won't know until about a week before. The main reason for the trip is my kid's dance competition. I won't know when they actually dance (they have 6 numbers that might be going) until a week before. There are 4 days that they could possibly be dancing from 8am till 8pm. So I can't plan much yet. And yes, it's killing me not to be able to plan. But I'm sure my son would love Disneyquest.

I've never had the cowboy at the great movie ride either. I didnt' even know there was another scenario until recently.

I hope you find your beaker T-shirt. I always had a soft spot for him.

Alcohol spreadsheets?? I love it!!

Your pictures are so cute. I love your poses. You look like you're having such a great time. :)

HI :wave2: I just found this TR and it's great! I have to admit your title is what drew me in. It's a secret goal of mine to drink around the world but shhhhh..members of my "crew" would find it unproductive:rolleyes1
Keep it going, can't wait to hear about the engagement!!!

We last left off when we were leaving Hollywood Studio’s to head back to our rooms for a bit. At this point I was starting to get a bit nervous, but still trying to act as normal as possible – it wasn’t easy! I knew before we headed off to MK I needed something to help with my nerves so Jen cleverly decided that we should all play Power Hour. For those of you who have never played (or heard) of Power Hour it works like this. First off you need a Power Hour music play list or video (you can find tons on You Tube), drink of your choice (beer works best – if you use something stronger it is best to fill your glass partially), and shot glass (not absolutely necessary but ensures everyone is keeping up.) Everyone then fills up their shot glass and you start the play list or video. Every 60 seconds the music or video clip will change at which you have to take your shot. You fill up again and have 60 seconds to take your next shot. Repeat this 60 times. An hour later I was def feeling less nervous!

I soon realized it was getting a bit late and we needed to get a move on if I wanted to make it to MK before the Wishes started. This was a bit of a challenge as Ashley did not understand why we had to rush (and Dan had apparently forgotten as he also was not moving very fast.) Jen came to the rescue and quickly got Dan in gear and I gave Ashley some lame excuse as to why we needed to get there so fast.

Here’s some quick background information as to why I decided to propose at MK during Wishes. During our drive down, I still hadn't decided between two places, either the beach at the Polynesian during Wishes, or in MK on the bridge to Tommorowland where Tink flies over your head during the beginning of Wishes. (On our first trip to Disney in 2007 that was Ashley’s favorite part of the whole trip.) I consider myself to be a shy person and wasn’t sure how I felt about proposing surrounded by the large crowds during Wishes. After arriving and realizing that we couldn’t book the Luau Show at the Polynesian at all during our stay, I decided that the next night that our first night in MK would be it! I had to get it over with so I could enjoy the rest of the trip and not be a nervous wreck the entire time. (Jen was also nervous as she had to keep the ring in her room’s safe the entire time and didn’t want to lose it!)

We quickly left the room, and hurried up to the bus stop and proceeded to wait and wait and wait for the MK bus. One finally shows up and I think we had less than 30min before Wishes began – def cutting it close. As we approach the unloading spots at MK we hit a dead stop. Apparently they were trying out a new “system” and buses had to check in with a head bus before they could proceed to their final stop and unload their guests. By the time we were all off the bus there was less than 10min left before Wishes started. Luckily we all made it through bag check and got into the park fairly quickly.

As soon as we step onto Main Street I hear over their sound system “Wishes will begin in less than 5 minutes.” Oh crap. I knew exactly where I needed to get too, but there was about 20,000 people between me and that spot. And I had less than 5 min. And Ashley had no idea why or where we were rushing too. By some miracle I was able to lead us on the right side of Main Street just outside of the shops through the Noodle Station terrace and over to the bridge to Tommorowland just in time!

About a min after we got to our spot, the lights dimmed. At that moment, Ashley then starts to occupy herself with our camera trying to get a good picture of Tink as she flies down. She starts getting frustrated because she couldn’t find the correct setting and then tries to videotape it. I kept trying to tell her to not worry about it and we will be back another night to see her again, just enjoy it.

As Tink comes out of the Castle Ashley starts to follow her with the camera and once she turns her back to me I grab the ring out of my bag and got down on one knee (all while shaking a bit) I tapped her on the ankle (cause I wanted to make sure she didn’t trip over me when she turned around.) As she turns I look up at her and asked her if she would Marry Me. She just looked at me completely stunned and said "Are you Serious??" After a few seconds of shock she realized I was holding a ring (she later told me she thought I had found something on the ground and I wanted to show it to her) and said Yes! She still didn't move at all (it took her quite a while for it all to sink in) so I stood up (still shaking) and put the ring out her finger as fireworks were going off all around us! It was the most perfect and memorable experience that neither of us will ever forget!

Sorry for the lack of pictures (thanks Jen!) but there was a “technical error” that occurred and Jen wasn’t able to get any with her camera when I actually proposed.

After Wishes ended, we headed over to TTA to let everything sink in more.

Your pictures are so cute. I love your poses. You look like you're having such a great time. :)

Thanks for reading!

Jen and I spent alot of our time prior to leaving finding all the places in the parks (minus MK) that had alcohol and each of their prices. Surprisingly, you could get the same drinks cheaper at different locations.

We had a blast posing for pictures. I can't wait to start posting some of the ones from our Monorail Bar Crawl!

Thanks for joining in! Everyone (that enjoys drinking) should try to Drink around the world at least once! You can go at your own pace and take it nice and slow (or like Jen and Dan did super fast!)

Awesome engagement story!! Congrats to you both :goodvibes

What an adorable story!! I don't think I would have had the guts to do it. Thank goodness I was the one to get proposed to!

Congratulations to you both!!

What a beautiful engagement story! :cloud9: Many congratulations!

Looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip. :)

Tears streaming down my face, that was really sweet, I can't imagine the nerves going on in you, but yay! she said yes!
I would kill to be able to say I was proposed to At Disney during wishes. I never got a proposal at all, we were watching T.V. and he said "Are you going to marry me or what?

Really W T F? where's the romance dude?

Anyway congratulations, I can't wait to read the rest of your TR. The power hour sounds like major fun by the way.

What a wonderful memory. Congrats.

I don't doubt you were nervous.

Glad you made it through the crowds in time.

I didn't think I was going to make it in time at all! I really thought I was going to have to postpone the engagement till the next night! Thankfully it all worked out cause I would have probably driven myself crazy.

I still can remember how nervous I was! Tell him you need a re-do on your next trip to Disney!

Thank you! I will have the rest of our MK night posted soon, then will get to our Monorail Bar Crawl!

Congratulations to you both!!

It took me some time (and alcohol) to summon up the courage! I think she is still a bit shocked at the way I did it since I tend to a be a very shy and quiet person.

Awesome engagement story!! Congrats to you both :goodvibes

Thank you!

By the time we got off the TTA, the crowds hadn’t died down that much from Wishes, so we decided to stay in Tommorowland and hit up a few more rides there. While waiting for COP Ashley and I made some calls to our family to let them know the good news!

After learning about the “Great big beautiful tomorrow” we then headed onto Buzz Lightyear. After Buzz I believe we all rode Space Mountain as the wait was pretty short. Ashley had missed this the last time we had visited, and wasn’t so sure about riding it. I tried to assure her that it was a very mild coaster and that most of it took place in darkness. Needless to say, she was not a fan of the ride. I hope I can convince her to give it another try now that it has gotten refurbished. She liked Everest, so I have no idea why she wasn’t a fan of Space Mountain.

We headed out of Tommowland, and somehow happened to stumble into Toontown and Mickey’s house where we came across a Photopass guy. I think he was a little surprised at seeing 4 adults in there with no kids, but told us that we could get our pictures taken with a Donald Statue or a hanging rug – we opted for the Donald Statue. I am still to this day trying to figure out how a rug is considered a photo-op.

Here are some of our best “Donald” poses:

After that we headed on over towards Frontierland and hit up Haunted Mansion and the Country Bear Jamboree. I hadn’t seen the Bear’s in quite some time, but Jen was adamant that we stop to see them. I think we may have been joined by 2 other groups of people for our show. Jen had a good time singing along with Trixie and the gang!

Next, we decided to visit Jack Sparrow and his fellow pirate friends. Jen enjoyed seeing all the new additions as she hadn’t been on it since it was refurbished. We had some fun in the gift shop and I made Ashley pose for this pic:

P3220660.jpg

I’m pretty sure he headed to BTMRR and rode that next. Thankfully, Ashley had rode that on her previous drip and deemed it “safe” enough for her to ride. She had never ridden in the dark before, so it was bit different for her.

By now it was getting a bit later, and a bit cooler. I wanted to go and ride Splash but everyone wasn’t as keen on the idea. I told them we wouldn’t get that wet as Disney controls the intensity of the “splash” and they don’t have it turned on high when its cold. Everyone reluctantly agreed and off to Splash we went!

Needless to say, they were right, and I wasn’t. We weren’t even on the ride for 1min before we all got soaked. Apparently, you can be at the wrong spot at the wrong time when logs that are just about to start going up into the ride get splashed by logs that are just coming down the big drop.

Here a few Photopass pics from after we road Splash (notice how wet we all are)

image069-1.jpg

Our initial plan for that night was to stay in MK for EMH which initially were set to 2am. When we got to the park that night we realized they had extended them till 3am. At this point it was around midnight, and Jen and Dan were too cold, wet and tired to hang around any longer. They decided to head back to the room for the night.

Ashley and I were still enjoying our magical night and did not want it to end so soon. We hung around for the next few hours and rode just about all the Fantasyland rides with absolutely no wait (except Dumbo the Carousel, and Teacups since neither of us are fans of spinning rides.) We even went on IASM even though the last trip I had swore I would never ride it again. Back then, we had lucked out by getting stuck in a boat while in the last “room” of the ride. For over 30min. Being so close but yet so far from actually exiting the ride almost drove me mad.

We even managed to make it over to Tommorowland again and rode the Speedway. Ashley wasn’t very fond of my driving as I kept bouncing us all over the track. She vowed to get me back next time she was driver, but unfortunately we never made our way back there.

By now it was after 2am and we were really starting to drag. We decided it was best to head back to the room since we had ridden just about everything we wanted to that night. We did manage take a few more Castle pics while on our way out.

I also attempted to get pictures of the Castle while it changed colors:
