We are concierge....my other family is not...

at our local walmart there are clerks who constantly roam to make sure lines don't get out of hand. they have often come to me when i have more than the number allotted and told me to go through the 'less than 10' line. should i then say no, i am breaking rules by doing that, or should i just go ahead and do it knowing that i will get through faster than others with the same number of items in a regular line?
i get the point that its breaking a rule, what i don't get is the fuss about it when it is sanctioned by a cm. i just don't.
If a concierge sees a guest smoking on their veranda and says it's ok. Is said guest breaking a rule?

….and i go back to 'how will you know'?
someone would look pretty foolish if they complain about someone else that has not been seen there before but its only because they don't utilize the room as often as the person with the complaint. i don't see asking for kttw cards as an option.

You wouldn't know. Not unless you were some psycho-stalker kind of person who spent your time haunting the lounge taking notes and lurking outside of staterooms trying to figure out who "belongs." The only family I knew for sure was a party of four were the ones next to us, because their girls and our boys used to have a lot of conversations on the verandas. Our other neighbors were in a one bedroom and had either three or four children, plus grandma was there a lot, no clue if everyone was booked in that room or not. Nor did I care.

It really amazes me that anyone who did not pay for concierge actually thinks they should get concierge perks.

It's pretty cut and dry, we have all heard it. "You get what you pay for"

Just because you put someone in an uncomfortable position to say no to you and risk losing tips or being in a confrontation doesn't not make it right. By human nature people find it difficult to say no to people and on the flip side there are many people that take advantage of that. You know what you are doing, and it's wrong. Don't put the concierge hosts in that position. All I read is you are trying to manipulate someone into getting something for free. If you giggle with your family members after they agree to your self absorbed "favor" you know it's wrong too.

I can picture it now, you all look at each other smile and high five each other

OP, I hope you have a lovely vacation and that concierge takes care of you and your family properly. I'm sure whatever you paid for the suite is more than enough to cover the booking of excursions early and Palo served to your room. I also want to point out that the "block" feature is really lovely and can make the experience here at Disboards so much more agreeable.

Assuming that their usage does not negatively impact yours*, you have made the determination that it is worth the cost to pay for those benefits. How is your enjoyment diminished?

Does your day suddenly start sucking when a person 20 feet ahead of you finds a $20 bill on the ground?

The "I paid for it, so everybody else must also pay for it or not get it" argument is 100% about class and about haves vs. have nots.

*The argument that the lounge will get more crowded, or the sun deck may be full are valid arguments. And, if that occurred as the result of letting in a few extended family members then the complaint is valid. Like I said, just the fact that others get to enjoy the same benefits without paying is not a problem. Its when the benefits you paid for start diminishing that a reasonable complaint can be raised.

IN YOUR OPINION, it has to do about class. I wouldn't pay for concierge (even though I could afford it) and I would never take advantage of it if I am not paying for it.

Wow I didnt not know that the different levels gave you excursion perks on a cruise. Do people often get blocked from popular excursions?

Hypothetically then if there was a line for ice creams and everyone was being given them for free, but when you got up they charged you for yours, it would not diminish your enjoyment of it?

no it would not. i would assume its a group of people who had pre paid, or a group of people who were underprivileged and were being taken out for a treat. i would not question why i had to pay and they didn't. there could be a thousand reasons why they didn't have to pay and i did.
its ice-cream, if someone not paying diminishes your enjoyment of eating ice-cream your eating it wrong. i will never be that person. :mickeybar

Using that justification is likening those non-Concierge people as guests who have PAID for Concierge perks but happen to be staying in a regular cabin, or as being so underprivileged that since they can't afford Concierge perks (by the example you used) they will be given to them for nothing. Naw . . . . :badpc:
