Wasn't sure if we were going to go this year but now we are!

Just paid for flights with Norwegian, 14th November for 2 weeks. Really happy with the flight price, was £399 each including luggage, meals and seat reservation.

The plan is to book a villa or condo for 10 nights then drive back down to Miami (to escape the parks around Thanksgiving!) to either spend the remaining 4 nights there or on a short cruise.

Can't wait, now to start looking at accommodation.

£399 each?! Wow! How is that possible?!

Congrats on booking the trip!

That's what we thought! Been keeping an eye on skyscanner for weeks now, say flights with Norwegian pop up yesterday for £379 and when I clicked on them they were £330 (then you have to add the extras making it £399)!!!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Wow! Great price!

We're flying out on the same date, staying for 10 nights then heading about halfway down to Miami to spend Thanksgiving with my parents. We're flying on Virgin, with tickets purchased back in January. We got a decent fare, but we should have held off for the deal you got.

Only issue really I suppose is the drive from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando after a 9 hour flight!

But we said we will take turns driving and stop off somewhere on the way to eat. Should be fine.

Great news Simon.
Its a route I will be keeping an eye on for next summer as I think we are planning to fly into the south and down to Key West again, so Fort Lauderdale would be ideal. Downer for me is Gatwick, wish they flew from Manchester.

Great price well done. One day when my kids leave I will brave the indirect routes and save a fortune :)

This route is direct, Gatwick to Fort Lauderdale.

Oh I didn't realise. Thing is I live near Manchester and don't stay anywhere near FL, so it would still be a massive pain in my butt. But at least no flight change it seems :)

that's excellent. Well done.

We are there from 2nd November for 3 weeks and flying Gatwick to MCO with VA...we also did well and paid £430 each for the flights.:)

Its certainly not an ideal route for us in the north but they do some great prices. They release a limited amount of seats for each flight around £400 return, even in school hols. Around half the cost of VA in August. If I can save £1200 on 3 seats I will cope with the inconvenience.

Thanks everyone!

Don't think Gatwick is great for many of us, even us down south, wish more flights went out from Heathrow!

Luckily we both don't mind driving in Florida so doing half the drive each plus stopping off somewhere to eat should make the 3 hour drive more bearable.

oo i will have to keep an eye on this also , dh is keen on starting with a keys visit next time ( he missed his marlin fishing due to storm last visit)

Well since booking things haven't gone so well...

Norwegian emailed me a few days ago to let us know that our flight times are changing...

Unfortunately there has been a change to your Norwegian booking, reference Z9LN6V.

Your new flight details - please note, all times are local:

Date Flight From Dptr time To Arvl time

14/11/14 DY7045 LGW 15:50 Ft Laud 21:00
28/11/14 DY7046 Ft Laud 23:00 LGW 12:25

So originally we were due to arrive in Fort Lauderdale at 18:30 but now would arrive at 21:00 with customs, car rental pick up and a 3 hour journey to do! That's without any delays! :sad2:

So we have decided to cancel the flights, luckily we can get a full refund, and we have booked new flights with Virgin into MCO landing at 16:05.

Bad news is it has ended up costing us over £100 more each but good news is we are landing in Orlando and at a much earlier time! :)

Plus on the way home I have managed to reserve seats in the 'bubble', not sure how good it is there but I have heard many of you talk about it! :goodvibes

Glad they let you cancel, £100pp extra is not that bad for the convenience.
9pm arrival would be fine for us, if we stick with our plans we will get a hotel at or near the airport and start early the next morning but to drive straight upto Orlando would be difficult.

i agree that the added fare is totally worth it for the convenience.
I would do it just to save that drive.
I had a hard time making that drive after a relatively good night's sleep. I doubt i'd manage it safely after a transatlantic flight!!

i do you you're MUCH better off this way!!
