I just rang disneyland vacation planning to find out if they managed to get us fantasmic tickets. :sad2: Sadly they didn't. The kids will be very disappointed. We are returning to disneyland after 2 week of touring around grand canyon etc and I will try getting up in the middle of the night (Australian time) and get some tickets for the end of our visit.

kwonyong, I'm not sure what you mean? Are you saying you weren't able to get ressies for the desert seating? You and your family will still be able to watch Fantasmic!, you just have to find a good spot and stake it out. It will still be amazing, imho.

We usually get a treat, funnel cake or something, and hot coco to enjoy while we wait, and talk about our favorite parts of the day. :goodvibes

How far in advance did you request the tickets? I plan to phone vacation planning 2 months before our arrival. I will be highly dissapointed if they can not get us tickets (for August.)
I'm sorry you could not get reservations. Is there another day you could ask for? If not there is lots of great advice on the dis how to get a good spot for the show.

I got reservations for two by calling just last night for the 10:30 Fantasmic show on Wednesday, March 26th. This is the second Fantasmic of the night that day. I was really suprised that they had seats available during one of their busier weeks this close.

Keep trying...someone might cancel.

Just a note - you can only ring for preferred seating 30 days out exactly (or less fo course!) So if you plan to go in August, pick the night, then work back thirty days and call.

Kwonyong...sounds like you will still be in time, and the earlier post is right -the later show is sometimes slower to sell

and of course you will be able to see it in any case, just (maybe) withut the PS.

To be honest I'm pretty happy we didn't pay for PS for Fantasmic! We watched the fireworks, and then headed like cattle over to the show and got great spots. The first night we stood over to the side and were water side. The 2nd night we were front and centre, seated on the ground, a few rows back. Both had great views.

BTW, just call in the morning. I made my PS res for restaurants by calling around 11am.

i didn't think riverside ever sold out

since there is no more balcony seating it sure does.

Good luck for getting your tickets. We rang vacation planning about 2 months ahead as well.

Vacation planning are trying for our second choice option now, so fingers crossed we will get those.

Thanks all, yes at least we will be able to still see the show regardless of whether we get tickets or not.

I'm a little confused. You can call Vacation Planning and THEY get you the tickets? I thought you had to call yourself to arrange this. Is Vacation Planning the same as the Disney Travel Co?
When we did this I just called at 30 days out..but you can have someone else do it for you? I wonder..do they get priority over regular call ins?

OK-I am totally confused:eek:

You need tickets to see the Fantasmic show? Or are you referring to preferred/reserved seating if you have a PS for dinner. Having never been to DL, only WDW, I am a bit confused.

Thanks.

There are no tickets required to watch Fantasmic! at DRL. You watch from the New Orleans Square area as it is played out against the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island (or whatever they're calling it now).

There used to be balcony seating (with dessert buffet) at the Disney Gallery above POTC. Then they added preferred/reserved seating within the waterside area. Now the balcony seating is gone (the Gallery has been reinvented as the Disneyland Dream Suite based upon the original designs for a Disney residence in the park).

The preferred seating area is great, but most of the time we watch from the general viewing area.

If you are staying at one of the Disneyland Resort hotels you can use a service they have there, called Vacation Planning, to make reservations for you, have gifts delivered to your room (for a price), etc.

The tickets are for the dessert buffet. Since the seating at the Disneyland Fantasmic is "open" some people like to purchase premium seats with dessert offerings so they do not have to stake out their spot, stand behind other people, etc.

I've seen Fantasmic from the balcony, premium seat area, and along with the other crowds, and have enjoyed the show from all three venues.

So I am confused a bit too. My understanding was that you could not make reservations before 30 days out. Can you do that earlier if you are staying in one of the hotels using Disney Vacation Planning? Does that bump it out to 60 days?

Thanks,
Michele

Maybe they haven't been able to get tix yet, because it is more than 30 days?

No, Vacation Planning at DLR does not have the privilege of booking any earlier than other guests. I believe they are set to the same 30 day mark as everyone else. I'm not sure exactly what kind of priority, if any, they have over regular folk who aren't staying at the DLR hotel properties, and are booking themselves at 30 days out. As far as I know, the CM at Vacation Planning has to get on the phone at 8 am just like everyone else and make that reservation.

Some of the folks here know this and some don’t, so for those that don’t:

There is a way to watch Fantasmic! without sitting on the ground for hours or paying extra for reserved seating. In front of the Pirates of the Caribbean entrance is a tower of speakers and lights that stays lowered close to the ground for most of the day. Fantasmic! cast members climb on to this tower to operate lights, etc., and approximately 10 minutes before a F! show it raises up in the air. This leaves a direct mostly unblocked view to the F! activities. Nobody stands in the area behind this speaker tower since there is no view. If you get there about 20 minutes before showtime you should find space to stand for what will be a nice open view to watch Fantasmic!, and you won’t have waited a long time. The pole that holds the speakers does still block your view some, so if you stand a little to the side the view will be a bit better. And be ready to hold your ground, when the speakers start to go in the air you will be instantly surrounded by plenty of (sometimes pushy) people. It is not quite as good a view as sitting right on the riverside, but the fact that you don’t have to save the spot for 2-3 hours is worth it to me. This really does work.

:ssst: :ssst: Good grief, man! You gotta stop that. Last couple times I've tried this trick, it's been like this behind the railing. :crowded:

OK, that’s the last time I will mention it!

I have done this a few times over the years and never had more than a couple people waiting with us. I shall remain silent from now on (about this).

Could you watch Fantasmic from the French Market or Cafe Orleans? Are they open that late?
