We all love pixie dust! Tell about your upgrades!

-Resort AKL
-Upgraded from: Regular room
-Upgraded to: Savannah view room
-Special occasion (if any) DD's 4th birthday

I was so excited I cried a little :) Then again I cry at Disney commercials, so this isn't saying much

I'm willing to bet that would be how I reacted too. I'd be crying like a baby. I was watching a YouTube video earlier of the new "The Magic, The Memories, and You! show at Magic Kingdom" and the tears started flowing! :) It's just that I absolutely :lovestruc Disney :lovestruc.

Everyone keeps asking why my husband and I chose to go to Disney - in 12 days, woo hoo! - for our 5th anniversary, especially since we're going to be back there March 18th for 9 days with the kids, my mom (1st trip for her since 1985!), and my oldest sister. The honest truth is I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be.

We're splurging for our first ever stay at a deluxe for our anniversary trip - the Polynesian. We booked the only room in our budget - a garden view - and I know I'll love that too. But while I don't expect more, and honestly won't be disappointed if we get exactly what we reserved, I'll sure appreciate any :tink: Pixie Dust :tink: that is sprinkled our way. I already consider myself to be blessed with an abundance of :tink: Pixie Dust :tink: for getting to visit WDW twice this year!

I'm so happy for everyone who has received all these magical upgrades over the years. Congrats to you all!

All of these upgrades make hope and pray for some pixie dust with our upcoming honeymoon! Although we'll still be happy staying at CSR!

*BUMP*

I LOVE reading all these wonderful reports of pixie dust magic!! It makes a girl hopeful that it can still happen to us. We're off to the World next month (March) and we're actually celebrating 2 big things on this trip----Our 10th anniversary AND my son's 6th birthday!!
My fingers are crossed and I'm not requesting anything special just in case. *wink* The good thing is that no matter if the pixie dust abounds or not, we'll still have a fantastic time. :cloud9:

Resort Pop Century
upgraded to Old key west
during Easter

Super excited the Old Key West has the best Easter egg hunt!!

As I said earler, I was soooooo happy when we were upgraded from a woods view to a great courtyard view at the WL last September. However, for those upset that they've never received an upgrade, I have a story for you. We PAID for a King room at CBR several years ago and when we got there, they "didn't have any more King rooms"....so my 6'5'' DH and I spent an entire week in a double bed. So....I figure our upgrade was karma finding her way to our lives to make up for the major screw up made by CBR several years ago.

We paid for a regular room at POR and requested a room in Oak Manor. Definitely not disappointed when we got a king bed, preferred room location in AB Building 15!! We could honestly take or leave the king bed, but we LOVED the location of the room. So close to the main building/bus stop!

I just love reading all of the Pixie Dust stories! We haven't ever received an upgrade either in all the years we've been going, but can always hope that one day we'll get our Pixie Dust moment!!

Last trip, the magic started when my fiancee and I were upgraded to first class on our flight down free of charge (it always helps to be nice to people and not expect anything in return)!

When we checked into the Wilderness Lodge, we were upgraded from Standard view to Courtyard view without even asking! No special occasions, just a happy couple getting some unexpected good news from a very nice CM!

And yes, it was a great trip!

We were booked in a standard view studio at BWV and when we checked in we had been upgraded to a Canal View 1 bedroom. It was to celebrate our Anniversary. It was wonerful to have a jacuzzi tub, on our mommy & daddy getaway!

I learned not to expect it....DH and I booked at the Poly for our 40th last Jan.
I booked a garden view, hoping that the occasion as well as the season (low) might generate a magical upgrade. Didn't happen...and yes, I was somewhat disappointed. Even the view in our garden view room could have been better.

Wow amazing thread.. Nothing like WDW pixie dust! In 13 trips no upgrade but thats ok, I guess that means once it hits it will be a big one! LOL

Honestly my family has been so fortunate with the way the economy has been to be ale to come to WDW, for birthdays, honeymoons, anniversaries and this Sept special trip b/c DS17 will be graduating HS later that yr and has had a very bad 2011, between loosing his father, couin and aunt in the last couple months.

Last yr DH and I stayed Poly CL (thats what we booked) and I felt that was a huge blessing in itself..Only thing is we are hooked! We are taking the two teens later this yr..

Congrats everyone! Keep them coming its a lovely thread!

This is our first trip to WDW, my dd's bday, and my & dh 10 year anniversary. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed :flower3:

December 2006

Resort AKL
Upgraded from: Regular room
Upgraded to: Savannah view room
Special occasion: Honeymoon

It was an amazing experience and we instantly fell in love with AKL! We were also close to the elevators and the lobby, so we didn't have to walk far at all, which I hear is sometimes an issue there.

Two years ago we went to CBR and no upgrade, but I don't know how you would upgrade at a moderate or value except to get a better location. This year we're staying at Poly GV and I just want something convenient with my DD3. I requested balcony or patio so we have somewhere to sit while DD naps and I'll be happy with that!

Stayed at the POLY 2006 myself,dh and 2 dd...booked a standard room.I did not ask for an upgrade(staying at a deluxe was good enough for me) but I think the happiness on my face when I checked in sold them b/c we recieved an upgrade to the Hawaii bldg which is club level!!! Took advatntage of everything they had to offer....and loved every minute of it!!!Staying at WL in Dec not expecting a upgrade..just hoping for that same " magical feeling" during this vacation. So excited!

It has made me feel so happy reading all these magical posts :tinker:

-Resort: Wilderness Lodge
-Upgraded from: Standard View
-Upgraded to: Courtyard View (Bear Face!)
-Special occasion: My first visit and 5 year anniversary for me and DBF!

We didn't actually get upgraded when we were checking in - we were there for 2 weeks and after 1 week we were having such a magical time that we decided to splurge on MNSSHP and ask how much it would be to upgrade to a courtyard view. The CM was so nice and sorted it there and then for us and right at the end told us there would be no charge! So even though we did ask we were willing to pay.

150 days till we go back and I can't sleep with excitement already! :woohoo:

OP here. I forgot to add our June '10 trip upgrade:

-Resort: Wilderness Lodge
-Upgraded from: Standard View
-Upgraded to: Courtyard View
-Special occasion: None

December 2010, BWV upgrade from standard view to pool view. No special occasion or request. We expected to be looking at the parking lot but were nicely surprised with a beautiful view from the 4th floor. (I'd post pictures but my back pack was stolen at the Orlando airport on the way home -camera and flip were in it - needless to say, magic over....)

Reading these stories are great! I have been to Disney a lot and never received any upgrades but then again we always go with my parents and stay at CSR and they ask for a very specific area (right by one of the quiet pools). We are heading back next week :yay: and have convinced my parents to stay at BWV . We didn't request anything special since we don't know anything about the resort. I just called today to link the reservations and see if we could get adjoining rooms. I also told them we were celebrating my father's cancer just going into remission so hoping for some magical dust!
