While I am sure it was set up so that the folks who paid for the dessert party would have an unobstructed view, the area by The Great Movie Ride is sitting only during the Symphony in the Skies fireworks. That meant that my daughter in her wheelchair and this short mom actually could see the fireworks.
Yes, I know Disney speak says that there is no need for any type of special viewing area for fireworks because they are up in the sky. That's fine, I guess, if you can stand and jockey around for position. (and Even that doesn't always work anyway). Our more usual experience is the backside of whoever jumps in front of wherever we are standing.
I sure hope they keep the seated area. As far as I could tell, everyone around me could see. (We parked at the very back of the sitting area because the wheelchair sits higher than people sitting on the ground)
