Hint: The two characters in the movie were playing the Movie Quote game! When I saw the movie on the big screen, a handful of people just ROARED with laughter at this line (me included of course!) ... the rest of the audience was dead silent, trying to figure out what was so funny.

Sorry Mr. Eggz, I never heard that quote before. I've heard "This was not a boating accident" which was quoted (incorrectly) in the movie Stakeout. And then there's the original quote from Jaws in which Hooper/Dreyfus said, "This was no boat accident..."

You got it! See, I did mangle the quote! Shark attack doesn't make any sense, does it?

The joke is that Sheen, a detective, asks Richard Dreyfus, the other detective: "Ok, heres one: Boating accident? This was no boating accident!"

To which Dreyfus, shrugs his shoulders, and says "I don't know."

Very funny!
