Does anyone have an opinion on what the next WDW Resort should be? I know there are rumors about a Mediterrenean Resort and another moderate resort, but I would love to see them build a bigger, fancier Wilderness Lodge on the other side of Bay Lake. It should have bigger rooms, more suites, a bigger pool, more and larger restaurants, etc.

Well I think they need to finish the other side of POP first but I guess a Mediterranean hotel would be nice. Sorta like the Portofino??

IMHO, it's "for sure" they won't be doing that. The last thing they'll do is to replicate a theme.

I think they need to focus on the parks and not build any new hotels.

However, I'd love to see the Venetian come to fruition.

I've always thought an oriental themed resort would be pretty cool, with similar architecture that you see in the Epcot Japan world showcase.

I'd like to see a resort with a huge atrium and glassed in pools (like the Gaylord Palms) where many rooms over look the interior pools~ these pools would be great in pouring rain and colder months, and of course there would be an outdoor pool for diehard sun fans. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

My vote has always been for a winter wonderland themed resort, that features Belle and the Beast around the snow. Also, a moderate w/ an Americana themed resort, like the land at the MK, would be great. :wizard:

i think it would be cool to do the medival theme with the armor and banquet halls, etc. kinda like the castle but really comfortable and inviting. jmho

I would personally like to see the Legendary Years come to fruition. The original plan was to build on the other side of the lake from the Classic Years. It would still be part of Pop Century just the years from 1910 to 1940. I heard so many different rumors about whether or not they are going to complete this part?

I would really like to see it.

I would love too see a 'Venitian' style resort as well!! It would be great to have it look into the park like the Grand Californian does. Maybe on Bay lake behind space mountain. That would make a monorail extension easy!! Also, I would like too see it be a split resort/DVC!!!

Wishful thinking I'm sure!!! ;) I have also heard the mediteranian rumors over the years. I guess we'll have to wait and see!!

The next thing they will do is finish Pop, then there is already a DVC resort planned for the back side of the property near the golf courses.

With the popularity of DVC, I don't see them building another resort anytime in the next ten years or so anyhow.

I guess my idea isn't very popular. There are a lot of different styles of National Park (and also State Park) lodges. They have already replicated the Fort Wilderness theme a couple of times over between the Wilderness Lodge, Wilderness DVC.

I agree with Ducklite, Disney is most likely going to stick with DVC resorts. Although, I think it would be great for them to add a Venetian, Mediterrenean, or even Oriental type resort on the Monorail line...

I'd love an Americana type resort, but I think thats the idea of Pop Century (American Pop Culture) so they won't redo the same overall theme.

I think a DVC resort on the Monorail line is definitely in order, I guess thats why theyre tinkering with the idea of converting one of the Contemporary wings into DVC.

The next I have heard of is the new DVC golf resort going in at Eagle pines nothing about any regular resorts atleast until they finish off the rest of Pop Century.

i think they need to refurb all the older resorts before building anymore
i mean they are doing poly and cr and this a.m., i read that the WL is also getting on

I'd LOVE to see a Colonial America resort, as a moderate, in the MK area!!!!!

Yes, if they build anything, they should build a moderate close to Magic Kingdom (possibly on the other side of Bay Lake, not on the mono). I would go with a "City" feeling like New York, New York hotel in Las Vegas.

From the sound of things, the parks are jammed as it is with all the EMH-ers taking advantage of their on-site privileges.

They're still building SSR, and Pop Century is waiting to be finished -- that's enough for now!

This won't happen. That is, a moderate will not be built with non-bus access to a park, especially MK. If it's on Bay Lake or the lake WL is on, it would have boat access, making it a deluxe. WL is not on the monorail, but has boat access. WL is a great resort and I love it, but really the biggest reason it's considered deluxe is for its boat access to MK. The same thing is true for the EPCOT area resorts that you can ride the boat to EPCOT from, or walk to EPCOT from. There's only one deluxe resort from which you cannot get to a park without riding a bus, and that's AKL.

I like the colonial American idea. I think it should be a moderate as well, since there really aren't enough moderate resorts, compared to deluxes, IMHO.

DH and I always thought it would be cool to do Hollywood Tower Hotel, themed like TOT. (Working elevators of course! :)
