WDW's Next Resort Hotel

No OKW does not offer roomservice and I do not believe that SSR does either but I may be wrong on that one. I also agree that OKW is the value resort of the DVC resorts but I would still stay tehre over the GF or POLY or WLor WLV. We are currently looking for a BWV add on to go with our HI VB and SSR contracts.

I seem to remember reading recently that the consensus was that WDW had SERIOUSLY overbuilt on resorts in the last decade and, except for the wildly successful DVC, they were in for a cool-down period.

The only way I can see them doing another resort is if it were a small inn attached to a larger DVC complex, like the BWV/BWI. Eagle Pines Inn?

I can't see a moderate being in the cards... Isn't POFQ always the first to go dark when business takes a nosedive?

I read an article that was posted on the News/Rumors board. It was from the Orlando Sentinal(sorry, can't splee). It quoted the new CEO and others that stated they would not be building any new parks in the USA only abroad. They also mentioned more focus on its DVC franchise and less on its regular resorts. This would be ok by me. I'm foaming at the mouth for the CR DVC to open!!!! :teeth:

I would love to see a cheaper deluxe (such as the AKL or WL) be built. Another moderate wouldn't be bad either......

I read that the WL was originally built as a moderate resort, but that they decided it was too nice with the huge lobby, interior corridors and proximity to MK, so they changed it to a Deluxe-"lite". That explains the smaller rooms and cheaper prices found there....

I think that they should finish Pop with small affordable "suites" (<$200 a night) to give larger families an affordable option. I bet they would be quite popular, but wouldn't compete with the crowd who looks for DVC style accomodations. There are many affordable suite properties offsite that this could draw families from.

I don't really foresee any new resorts in the near future except for the completion of Pop and more DVC resorts. I also don't see any new parks, but a new water park would be nice. Disney is finally slowing down their growth and they need to fix up/rehab the parks/attractions/resorts they already do have.

In reality the question is, what is the next DVC resort that Disney will build. Im not a Golf person so Im not really interested in any of the Golf DVC resorts. Though, I think it would be really neat if they built an extension to AKL and added DVC to it.

I think it would be great if they used the land between ttc and contemporary or the land between GF and MK to build another resort and put DVC units in it. DVC needs a strong presence in the MK area (VWL doesnt really work for me).

Imagine a DVC room with a view of the castle!

...so I don't know if THIS has been mentioned yet, but how about one with an Ancient Greek/Athens theme?? Ya know, Gods and goddesses, the Parthenon, a giant Trojan horse....

Or, maybe this: Egyptian-themed with pyramids and stuff!

I agree!!! That would be wonderful!!! :goodvibes Or as another OP suggested - something like Main Street in MK. Though probably not likely. :sad2:

This is only half-joking: how about a Mousetrap Resort? It could be a resort themed for the villains Disney has featured over the years, and the goal of these villains is to "capture the mouse", the mouse being Mickey, of course. The feature pool could have a slide themed like the old Mousetrap game, where each bump along the way triggers different events along the way.

I guess that won't work. People would probably the wrong idea from the "Mousetrap" name, and think it's a Universal resort!

Great idea, but not totally Disney "appropriate" :teeth: Like I said before, there needs to be one moderate in the MK resort area, not on Bay Lake, possibly on the street that connects WL and POLY?

I was thinking of making a resort that looks like a prison camp, with a huge sign that says NO FUN ALLOWED! So none of the kids will want to go, but as soon as you go inside there will be a carinval, pony rides, bars, restaurants, waterslides...I dont know why but the thought of this cracks me up. :rotfl:

The castle idea (probably deluxe) was the first to come to mind. Kings, queens, knights, jesters, etc. Midevil, yet totally Disney flair. I could see a faux draw bridge over a beautiful stream (kind of like the the Poly entrance) into the lobby.

But, I also like the Colonial America idea. A resort that makes you feel like you feel when in Liberty Square.

...definitely WARPED! (I like that in a person! :teeth: )

Why are they going in for DVC resorts so much? Why are they more profitable than regular resorts?

They make their money back quicker. Plus, DVC members usually come back more often meaning they spend more! :3dglasses

I'm not a DVC member...yet! but I look forward to it. :)

I work with the Daughter-in-law of the gentleman in charge of construction of resorts at Disneyworld. Yes, I am in TN, he is originally from here, so yes it is possible for me to work with his Daughter-in-law. Anyhoo....He was the main contractor for Pop and Sarasota Springs. Yes, there is more to be built, but he was told that was it for Pop. That is why they have moved on. He said maybe down the road, but anytime soon??? No, Pop is the way it will be for awhile. But there is another DVC coming (he couldn't tell her, so she couldn't tell me.) There is something about the Contemporary that he was measuring and checking out, but again, he couldn't say anything more. He puts up the buildings, but has no say so on the theme, that's someone elses job, but he does know what it will be before the general public knows. But, I love talking to her about it. Right now, he has a job in Tampa for the next two months, then back to WDW. I pester her only once a week for new news, but she doesn't know anything yet. I'll let y'all know!!!!

CR is not going to be DVC it will be Eagle Pines then likeley another resort all together on property or possibly an addition to DLC and the grand Californian resort for DVC. But as for on property at WDW look for Eagle pines then another DVC separate from other resorts not as an addition to one. This came from our DVC guide and yes they do have a little more inside info on things than most as they are the ones who have to sell it.

They get all their construction money back right away with the sales, and it doesn't matter if the economy is good or bad, since the dues pay all the expenses of keeping it up.

Acklander that is exactly it the members pay the dues for the resorts upkeep and staffing etc and the purchase price pays the constructions costs etc.
