wdwgirl goes on safari...May 14-19 with tons of pics and video: final update, p. 18

Great update, sounds like a long but fun day!
Glad you enjoyed HSM pep ralley. It was a fun show!

I can't beleive that principal did that! :scared1:

We have had a lot of rain here too! Hannah's field day has been postponed 3 days in a row now.
I thought she was going to cry this morning. :(

If it rains this weekend maybe we will go see Prince Caspian.

Oh yes, it's always long but fun days for us, especially now that we're older. :)

That stinks about Hannah's field day! They're supposed to be having a barbecue on Thursday for my sister's class before their graduation rehearsal but I guess it's supposed to rain again then. UGH is it ever going to stop?!?!? :worried:

I have enjoyed reliving your trip with you.... The HSM video is very fun, I am glad you are sharing the videos!
That principal was quite amazing to call you twice, very rude! I don't blame you for being upset!

I'm glad you're enjoying my TR and videos. I do have a few more videos but I wish I would've taken more. Oh well, guess there's always next time! hehe

Cute video!

I can't believe the principal called you back again!

Thank you! Your trip is so soon...I'm jealous.

Wow, the past few days have been pretty crazy. We've had so much rain...atleast 6 inches in less than 24 hours. I had first aid/CPR training on Saturday for my summer job and driving home was so scary! I could hardly see and there were some massive puddles that I had to go through. One of the streets closer to our house was so flooded. We also had to move some stuff out of the basement because we started to get some water down there. :( Luckily it's all gone now and there isn't supposed to be any rain the next couple days. There was also one little area in our village where it looked like a mini tornado hit- a lot of trees were uprooted and/or split. So I guess we were pretty lucky we didn't have to deal with that. Anyway, let's get back to my report...

Day 3: Friday, May 16, 2008...A Morning at Epcot

Today was finally the day of the Pirate and Princess Party! We decided to go back to Epcot for the morning. We also had to pick up our rental car for Sea World at the Dolphin so it was convenient for that. We woke up, got ready, ate breakfast and were on our way. We don't waste time. ;) Before heading to the bus stop we checked the savannah again for animals but didn't really see anything.

Our good luck with the buses continued as we only had to wait a couple minutes at most. Soon we were at the gate.

n20305212_33510441_7004.jpg

We stood in line for a few minutes before they started letting people through the turnstiles and up to the ropes. We planned to go to Soarin first (like most people!) so we went to the rope furthest to the right. There were a couple really nice CMs talking to a little girl and her family while we waited. That must be so fun for CMs to get to interact with all the guests! I would love that. Once the little ceremony was over we were (slowly) on our way. Normally we get fastpasses for Soarin but we decided we didn't really need them. I think we ended up being in the first ride of the day anyway- there weren't too many people in front of us. Once everyone was in place we were given our flight instructions.

n20305212_33510443_7286.jpg

I really love this ride. The liftoff, the music, the effects, everything! It's brilliant! It's also fun seeing all the reactions of the first-timers. Though this time I guess everyone had either already been on it or were still tired because nobody really seemed excited. We've been on a couple times when people clapped when it was over and kept saying how cool it was. Ohh well!

Our next stop was Mission:Space. Now, I am still too terrified to try this ride so only Claire and Dad rode. They love it and keep telling me it's not that bad. Well, I just remember going on the Jimmy Neutron ride at Universal Studios and almost got sick on that (and that is a kids ride?!?! LOL). I do not like motion simulators! So while they rode I went to get fastpasses for Test Track and snapped a few pictures.

n20305212_33510453_8747.jpg

I also bought a cute pin in the Mission:Space giftshop. It's Mickey riding in one of the Test Track cars. I'll be posting pics of all my souvenirs later on in my report.

When Claire and Dad came out of M:S we still had some time before we could use our fastpasses. I wanted to get some character pictures so we went over to the new Character Spot.

n20305212_33510455_9030.jpg

There were quite a few people in line so I think we waited about 20 minutes. But once we got to the characters it went pretty fast. It was so great to be able to get pictures with all those characters in one place. First up was Mickey!!

n20305212_33510458_9320.jpg

It was so cute watching the little kids in front of us (and even behind us) interacting with the characters. I can only imagine what it's like for parents when they take their kids. :goodvibes It was finally our turn to meet Mickey!

n20305212_33510460_9606.jpg

Aww, so cute! Gotta love the mouse. Next up was Pluto. All of the characters had a photopass photographer with them which explains why we're not looking at the camera.

n20305212_33510464_203.jpg

n20305212_33510466_500.jpg

I had to laugh after we saw Minnie because there was this family behind us with a younger boy and he would NOT go by Minnie...I guess he didn't want his picture with a girl! So finally his dad took a picture with Minnie and that got him over there. Too funny.

Chip and Dale were next!
n20305212_33510468_816.jpg

n20305212_33510469_1129.jpg

And last but not least, Goofy!
n20305212_33510470_1438.jpg

On our way out of the building we saw that Snow White was there so of course we had to take one more picture since we usually don't see her.
n20305212_33510812_3435.jpg

I think I've got this whole princess thing down, don't you? ;) She was really cool the way she was interacting with everyone. She asked us what kingdom we were from and noticed how we brought the "king" with us. Lots of fun!

We were able to take pretty many pictures in the Character Spot...Claire and I each got our own picture with each character and Dad got in a couple too.

When we left we could tell it was starting to get more humid outside. But we walked over to Test Track to use our fastpasses. After Test Track Dad suggested that we go see Turtle Talk with Crush since we had never done that before. So we headed over to the Seas with Nemo and Friends. The ride was pretty much a walk-on and then we went to wait for the next show. I didn't realize they had all of those exhibits right in the waiting area so that was kind of cool. The show was really cute too. Very funny. Here's a short video I took:

I was wrong in assuming this show was just for kids. Yeah, there were a lot of kids but also a lot of adults (who didn't have kids). We got a kick out of it, especially when Crush told the kids to use "Dude" for the rest of the day and all the parents groaned. :teeth:

By this time we were getting pretty hungry so we went to get lunch at the Electric Umbrella. I had the chicken nuggets which were very good. I can't remember what Claire and Dad had...I think maybe just hamburgers.

There were quite a few kids in there who were obviously on school trips. That just seems so weird to me to go on a field trip to Disney World! But I guess when you live around there it's probably pretty popular for end-of-the-year trips.

Next up: Around the world in 15 minutes

PS: Could someone tell me how to get this moved over to the Trip Reports board (I think I saw somewhere to PM the mods)?! TIA!

Wow! You met a lot of characters in the Character Spot. I will have to remember that place.

Turtle Talk with Crush looks funny.

I think I've read to PM a mod to get it moved.

Hello again! So the other day I was browsing ebay for some Disney pins and I came across some really cool cast member pins. I had to have them so I finally opened up a paypal account to buy them. They came in the mail today!!! Here's what I got:

100_2737-1.jpg

I'm so excited! I should not have done it though because now I am going to be buying them all the time. I'm going to have to control myself...

Just thought I'd share!

Glad you enjoyed Soarin! Great that you got on so fast!
Turtle Talk is a great show! Very funny!

The Character Spot looks like a great place to meet & get photos. I just love those backgrounds. Neat that you met snow white too!

Cool pins. I am avoiding looking at pins on ebay. I got a little too into it at Disney.

I must restrain myself from pins! Posting your pics isn't helping me with that!! ;) I really like the Monorail pin.

I love Turtle Talk w/Crush! DH and I saw it for the first time last Oct w/out kids. I laughed so hard.:rotfl2: (well maybe not that hard);)

Hey, everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I got a call from the principal at the school where I had my interview and unfortunately they offered the positions to someone else. :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: She told me that I was a really strong candidate and that she would suggest subbing because it's a good way to get in the district or whatever (I already am doing that...). So, I've been kind of moping around today and feeling sorry for myself. Oh well, I'll get over it. But the job search continues...

On the bright side I get to sub for my second graders again tomorrow morning. It'll be nice to see them since it'll probably be the last time I see them before summer. It's hard to believe they're almost 3rd graders!

I thought I posted to your TR way back, sorry. I know the Catholic school system doesn't pay as well, but did you check out the jobs there, archmil.org?

Do you know anyone from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin that went to Marquette? I'm sure you know the Travis Diener that plays for Indy now. My son just graduated from UW-Milwaukee and he used to hang out with a lot of people from Marquette-I just wondered if your paths ever crossed. Plus he is a huge Brewer Fan and attends almost all the home games. His roomate has season tickets and when they don't use those, they sit up in the cheap seats.

I keep thinking to myself why do I like reading trip reports? It must be the great memories and seeing others catch the magic... :wizard:
I can't believe you got those pins on ebay! We got a small bag of pins from ebay for trading but you really found some good ones! I agree, they are very addicting! :goodvibes

All caught up now!!!

I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't get the job. Sometimes it's for the better and something more amazing will come along!

Still loving all your pics. I never knew HSM pep rally went down to the LMA area. The only place I've ever seen it was infront of Mickey's hat.

I love all your pins. I never thought to check ebay. Looking forward to more of your TR.

ohhh and to move your report just PM the MOD. They will be happy to move it for you. :)

Yeah, it was really cool to see all those characters. It was also nice that you didn't really have to worry about them leaving (I think when we saw Goofy he left for a couple minutes but then came back out).

Love your trip report so far!!!
Can't wait to read more!!!
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying it!

:welcome: and thanks for posting! I haven't really looked into the Catholic schools yet...I should do that though.

Hmm, other than Travis Diener I can't think of anyone else I know from Fond du Lac. :scratchin We got one of the Brewers 9-packs so we'll be going to quite a few more games too.

I keep thinking to myself why do I like reading trip reports? It must be the great memories and seeing others catch the magic... :wizard:

Ohh, I agree about trip reports-they're so much fun to read and see others' experiences.

Yeah, when I saw those CM pins I had to get them especially since I'm not into the whole trading thing (just the collecting part!)...I don't think I could give away any of mine and even if I bought some specifically for trading I'd probably end up wanting to keep those too!

All caught up now!!!

Aww, thanks. I'm still looking for a full-time job (and probably will be over the summer) but if I have to keep subbing for a year that's ok. Like my cooperating teacher said, it could be worse. Plus, my dad and sister are planning on going to WDW in December and if I don't have a job I can go too. haha

Yeah, I'm not sure why it went down that way. I know in January most of the shows were in front of the hat but they had one day where it went the other way. :confused3

I think I made a big mistake checking ebay because now I am going to want to keep buying more! :p But it is amazing how much you can find on there.

I just read your TR - great job so far; reminds me of when my sister, dad & I would go down to WDW a week b4 my mom and grandparents joined us - it was fun!

Subbing to your trip report. great so far and love the pics too :thumbsup2 . Can't wait for more.

Friday, May 16 cont'd...

Alrighty, so this next part is probably going to be mostly pictures...I know that probably breaks everyone's hearts. ;)

Like I mentioned Dad made a reservation for a rental car so we could drive to Sea World the next day. We needed to pick it up around 1:00 at the Dolphin so we pretty made our way over to World Showcase. It was so neat seeing all of the flowers/topiaries for the Flower and Garden Festival. So pretty! :rose: :flower2: :daisy: :flower1:

Stitch!

Volleyball is my favorite sport (I played all 4 years in high school and intramural in college) so I couldn't resist these guys!

There was a little gift shop near the entrance to WS that featured some Larry Dotson drawings (I think that's his name!). WOW they were soooo amazing! It was really cool looking at them. I wish I would've bought one of them because they were beautiful. :( After browsing for a little bit we continued our stroll around World Showcase.

While walking through France we saw Belle was out so of course we had to stop. She's another character we don't usually see.
n20305212_33510813_3753.jpg

By this time it was starting to get even warmer/more humid and I was getting tired/sore. That combination made the walk over to the Dolphin seem like forever! It seemed to be especially hot walking on the Boardwalk. Needless to say we were glad when we got to the Dolphin. I couldn't wait to get back to AKL to go swimming again. Even though nobody else was at the counter for the rental cars, it took a while because the lady was on the phone for a looong time. I did manage to pick up a brochure for Sea World so I could look at that and get excited for tomorrow! Once we had the car we headed back to the Lodge for a break before the big night!

Count me and my son in! We are busy catching up and really enjoying it:rotfl:

:welcome: and thanks for joining in on the fun!

I just read your TR - great job so far; reminds me of when my sister, dad & I would go down to WDW a week b4 my mom and grandparents joined us - it was fun!

Thank you! Glad you're enjoying it!

Subbing to your trip report. great so far and love the pics too :thumbsup2 . Can't wait for more.

Woo hoo, a subscriber!! I'm glad you like the pictures (they're my favorite part of TRs!)

Nice pictures from Epcot. I like the little trolls. I wonder if they're there all the time. I also like Lady's ears. So adorable! :goodvibes

I love the Flower and Garden Festival. I can't believe what the Disney gardeners do with flowers. Were you able to go into Minnie's butterfly house? That was really neat too. My daughter held butterflies on her hands. So cool.
And the garden trolls in Norway. My grandmother was Norweigen and she had trolls on her fireplace. Looked just like those garden trolls. Great pictures. Looking forward to hearing about Sea World.
