HI All,

My husband and I are new parents to an 8 month old. We'd like to plan a family trip for before we try for baby #2. We already did a Caribbean trip with the baby so we're looking to do something different- of course WDW comes to mind.

Do you think WDW with an 8 month and the two of us old is a good idea? My husband hasn't been since he was a child, and I went a lot in my 20's but it's been about 10 years since I've been. We would prob rent points and stay in a 1BR Villa on property as our daughter needs to be in a separate room to get good sleep for naps and night time. We will def be going to WDW with our kiddos later on- are even thinking about DVC, but since we only have the one and she's so young just wondering if it's worth the money.

If you do think that it's a good idea, which resort is best for our particular circumstances.

I have a friend who has DVC and she took myself and DD last year at 8.5 months and we had a blast! So much fun that we are going back this year at 18 mo. :)

The trip was different than my usual Disney trips as we did not plan much. We scheduled a few meals and picked 2 or 3 things a day we really wanted to do, and then just went with the flow after that. We got to enjoy a lot of the "little" things in Disney that go beyond the rides. It was really a lot of fun.

My memories from this trip include: got DD's first haircut on Main St, dressed her up head to toe like Snow White and met SW in Epcot, took DD in her first pool (and she hated it), her first reaction to Mickey, sitting front row on the curb for the afternoon parade where she got TONS of attention from the characters (we settled in 40 minutes early while DD napped and it was SO worth it!), got a silhouette cutout made in MK (hanging in my bedroom), being a part of the Monsters Inc show (we were a 2 headed monster with 6 ears), and it was my first Disney experience as a mom. I just loved the trip to pieces and you will too!

I think it is a great time to go! I've been with my girls at 8 months and 10 months. I loved it! They were content looking around. I would suggest you bring a good baby carrier... Mine spent their days in an Ergo. We stayed at CSR since there is a sliding door between the room and bathroom area. We put the packnplay in there. It gave us a "second" room for not too much money.

It's not a trip for baby, it's a trip for you.

Are YOU okay with missing lots of things and going at a slow pace? If so, then I say go for it! If you or hubby are going to be bummed that you can't go at a commando pace then maybe it's not the best idea.

I took my son for the first time at 10 months old and it was great - that said, I'd already experienced WDW several times as an adult so I didn't really worry about missing anything.

I had a cosleeper so can't help on the separate sleeping arrangements. Maybe an AoA suite?

This! I totally would have done it and had a great time.

Renting points for a 1 bedroom suite is totally up to you. We don't do it and just deal w/ one room most of the time b/c that just isn't where I want to spend my money. I wouldn't say it's always perfect, but the more you do it the better travelers they become. I'd probably just rent a DVC studio w/ points and we'd hang out on the balcony or bathroom until they're asleep. Add a noise machine and you should be fine.
