Hi. My hubby and I just planned a last minute wdw trip for 8/28-9/2 at the swan. Never stayed there hear that it is nice. The price was right. This is our first time with the kids and I have questions! I went out on a whim and purchased the sit and stand stroller by baby trend. I haven't taken it out of the box since I am still not sure it is right for us. After reading a few posts, I think the perego pliko (sp?) might be better. The sit and stand weighs 25 lbs. My son is almost three and my 4 1/2 month old with be almost 5 months and has excellent head control and tries to sit up. Will my son be ok hopping on the back if he is tired or needs to be "contained"? I don't even know if I could get it shipped in time. I would want the older one for the price! Any advice on this would be great. Second thought, my daughter is so heavy in the carrier that I was going to leave it at home. She will fly lap baby. My only dilemna is high chairs in the restaurants. I don't think she can do those yet since she can't sit up on her own. Any suggestions? Does anyone know if you can take the carrier as a carry on or check it with your luggage? My hubby and I are so excited to go. We love disney and didn't think we would go with the kids this young but then we thought where else would we go with the kids this young! Any advice on how to make the trip easy, please let me know. We are planning on taking it slow with afternoon nap and pool breaks and early evenings. We will miss the adventurers club! Thanks for your help. Lynn

What kind of carrier are you using? If you're using a Snuggli style, it's no wonder your back hurts. Have you tried a regular sling, or a Piggy-Pack? (see http://www.mothers-helper.ca for pictures and you'll see what I mean.) They're perfect for toting around kids your baby's age and size. That way the stroller will be free for your son to pass out in when he gives up (which he will).

I wouldn't try your baby in a high chair, I'd just sling her during meals, or keep her on your lap; it's a bit of a hassle, but we've all BTDT, right?

We're going to WDW in November, (FW cabins), and my youngest is going to be 3 1/2 by then, and I'm still planning to bring my sling; wouldn't dream in a million years of making a trip without it. I might borrow my friend's piggy pack, too...not sure. When they flake out and there's no room, it's easier just to carry them; also, with a sling, you can get them high enough, leaving your arms free, that they have a better view.

A sling won't hurt your back the same way other carriers do. They're much more practical. My daughter is over 30 pounds and I can still carry her easily. In the spring I was on a trip to Ottawa and my youngest was asleep in the stroller, and my 5 1/2 year old was flaking out. I just popped her in the sling on my hip and carried on. (Her legs were banging my knees, but it did in a pinch for the little while I needed it to.)

There'll be some awkward moments, I'm sure, but you're right, where else can you go with little'uns this size and still have a blast? Make sure to bring your son to the pavillion near the fountain at Epcot; my daughter was utterly enraptured there by the moving lights in the ground (can't recall exactly where it was, but she lay there for 20 minutes at that age, trying to guess where the next lights would show up).

Have a wonderful time!!

Kris

I think both you and baby would be happier with the Peg Perego. I've never used a Sit-n-Stand but did go see them at BabiesRUs and the Pliko is a much nicer stroller. I purchased a 2003 Pliko a few weeks ago from Albee Baby for $189 and it arrived in days but now the price is up to $229. The Pliko more padding in the seat, has a huge sun canopy, stands when folded, has a carry handle, great 5 point harness that releases from the seat so baby can freely move, is easier to push and that Sit-n-Stand is HUGE! I wouldn't want to carry that on the bus to MK with 2 kids....

I'm not sure if your DS would need more than just the running board. My DS who turned 3 on our last trip would have been OK with it except the day we didn't take a break. You could always rent a stroller for him at the park if he needed it.

Be sure to check out the Baby Care Centers. They are great.

You'll have a blast!

I second the Pliko and the sling! We took my then 5mo and 3yo last october. My 5mo stayed in the sling virtually the entire time, she did not want anything to do with the stroller. I chose the maya wrap and it is wonderful! It kept the baby well covered from the sun, and she was so comfortable. She would sleep in it and nurse in it! It worked out perfect for us. My son rode in the stroller and was much more comfortable then the rentals. He even napped in there, we did not go back to the resort mid day since at the time we went the parks closed earlier. The Pliko has been great! I love the way it fold so compactly and how comfortable it is for the baby. My son loves hopping on the back, but he is now getting a little too old. Not sure if he would have made it all day just riding on the back at DW, but he did great IN the stroller. I was surprised at how much he wanted to ride considering he is a very active boy who is always on the go!
