I thought resort on any property referred to the hotels but to each their own I guess.

A resort is a place used for relaxation or recreation. As a result, people tend to seek out a resort for holidays or vacations. Generally, a resort is run by a single company, which attempts to provide for all or most of a vacationer's wants while staying there, such as food, drink, lodging, sports, entertainment, and shopping.

Towns that contain resorts -- or where tourism or vacationing is a major part of the local activity -- are often called resort towns. The term resort is sometimes misused to identify a hotel that does not provide the other amenities required of a resort. However, a hotel is frequently a central feature of a resort.

Now can we get over the fact that a resort is more than a hotel or motel....

I am not trying to start a debate but even here on the Dis there are seperate forums for resorts and theme parks. That alone would lead one to believe that resorts is referring to a place where one sleeps.

Well if you go look at the Official Disney Homepage... they talk about the resort...and then recomend that you you stay at one of the hotels..... A resort is the total package.. You can have a hotel without it being a resort....

Also, Disney now refers to the California property as "Disneyland Resort" and the one in France as "Disneyland Resort Paris." They're clearly not just referring to the hotels. I'd say Disney's terminology trumps the Dis's. Not to mention the fact that the person who takes the time to run these contests (and therefore makes the rules) has confirmed that she was referring to the parks as well as the hotels.

I didn't say you were wrong just that some people look at things differently.

eta: This is the first time I have come into this thread for a while. I didn't realize that it had become a contentious topic.

Back on the first or second page someone asked whether "resort" was limited to the hotels or included the parks. Andromedaslove confirmed that she was referring to the whole deal. I suspect she used the phrase "Disney resort" in order to be all encompassing and not limit things to WDW. The exasperation seems to come from the fact that the question had already been asked and answered for purposes of the contest.

Here's my entry for this week -- 2 Princesses !!!
