I'm new to this board and am just starting to plan my trip. I haven't been to WDW in 5 years  so there are a lot of new things there for me. I went to the WDW website first, and I was amazed at how little info is on it. I mean info about the parks and resorts. I know this board is for all the little secrets, but I couldn't find out basic stuff (the specific rides at Magic Kingdom, pictures of the resort pools, etc.) on that website.

I'm so glad someone told me about this board :D

You should check out www.wdwig.com too.

Deb's site has a lot of info and pictures. She has some really nice resort pictures.

Yes, I've always thought that the Official Disney World site is more or less a glorified commercial. I've always found the DIS (and Deb's All Ears Net) much better to help with trip planning.

The WDW site is consistently incorrect about things. I noticed that this site and Deb's site were far more up to date on things like renovations and so forth. Even calling Disney was less accurate.

You can always order the planning video from the Disney website...

We got it a few weeks ago (you can request a DVD or VHS) and there were a lot of attraction previews, resort pictures, etc. I was really impressed- we got the DVD and the whole thing was almost a FULL 2 hours long!

Enjoy!

Welcome to the Dis Fabwallsmom:earsboy: The official site is nice, but the folks on these boards are ALL OVER IT LIKE A MONSTER;) Verrrrrry little gets by this group. Check out the various Dis forums and ask us anything:earsboy:

That's the beauty of the Internet! Disney would never have a message board on its site for various reasons -- yet that's exactly what folks need when they plan their trip to be able to kick the tires before getting there.

A site like Deb's also rocks with its thorough attraction information (which I can understand why Disney likes to keep that at a minimum) and menus (which I can't see why Disney wouldn't make it a point to promote that).

Welcome to the DIS. You've been given some great words of wisdom here with suggestions on where to go instead of the "official" Disney website.

That said, I have always been surprised how lacking their website is. The information you CAN find there is often hidden and difficult to find......not a welcoming thought when you consider the amount of money one puts into a Disney vacation.

Thank goodness for the internet and people who are willing to share their vast knowledge of DisneyWorld and other theme parks...I haven't had to buy a planning book since I discovered the DIS and wdwig to be invaluable in my planning.

Have fun planning!

Also visit www.mousesavers.com and www.ourlaughingplace.com The latter I mentioned has a GREAT transportation wizard on getting from one place to another at Disney!
