During your trip - if you happen to go to the GF on any day except Thursday, stop by the Grand Floridian Cafe and ask for Izzy. Boss, dear, JEB stands for John Ellis Bush. Why the family called him Jeb and why it stuck who knows, maybe he was just happy not to be called George.

I have some issues with my Governor. I did vote to re-elect him. Education is where I stray a bit from the Republican party line. I don't agree how education funding is done now in the state, and I don't agree with how the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) is administered. On the other hand, I agree with him ending Affirmative Action when it comes to College Admissions and his Florida First program that replaced it is a great success. In Florida, the Governer does not hold all the power though, the Cabinet is just as powerful, and that often causes problems. blah blah blah. Anyway....

I do realize that John, sorry, I need to call him JEB has done a lot for the state of Florida and you would know more about his programs or lack there of as when it comes to education, but I just feel that another Bush in office would be overkill. The Republicans look pretty strong for the next few years, hell Powell could even enter and cause a stir - the first Black guy to be President - well second if you count the guy on 24. For the Democrats to stand a chance they need a high profile candidate and I can only come up with the ex First Lady. I k realize that she pulled a "Stand by your man" but I think we all know why she did that. Seriously, who else would even be considered as having a fighting chance but Hillary! Maybe not in 2004 but definitely in 2008. Could your favorite Bill be making a return as the Leading Man?

Boss, I should have also stated this: I have met and talked with Jeb on a couple of different occassions a number of years ago (when he first ran and lost), he is a very warm, friendly and engaging man. I also love how he personally answers peoples emails as Governor. He has even been known to show up on people's doorsteps trying to help their situations. Sure he gets publicity out of it, but past Governors never had such a personal touch.

I really could care less about what color or sex the person is who runs for the presidency, I want who is qualified and who can get the job done. I guess a good example of my feelings is this, when I applied to college, I wanted to know that I was accepted for what I had accomplished rather than filling some quota. I could have claimed a minority status but I didn't want that.

I too Jas am a firm believer at letting the qualities of a person speak for them and not the colour of their skin or their sex. When I was first hired after completing university I was told by my employer at the time that I was supposed to be a black woman. I can tell you that I am neither and that my former employee said he wanted the best person and didn't care about company politics.

Frankly there are many more discussions I would prefer to have rather than politics. How about the plight of the aids crisis, the state of the horrible health care available in this country, Teen suicide, Infant mortality or how about Alzheimers disease. I can tell you about my mom, and how her health care isn't covering half of the treatments that could help her.

Sorry if looking for a little light hearted conversation doesn't meet with your approval. Thought we were supposed to have fun.

As has been said before, anyone is entitled to their opinion and last I checked could discuss any topic.



Now anyone care to join me in the spa for a serious conversation about teen suicide and depression.
