But I couldn't stand it when the classless New Jersey fans booed Giguere when he was awarded the Conn Smythe trophy

Jas - I just mentioned this same thing on another thread...

NJ fans booing Giguere is just as bad as when the stupid Hab's fans booed the *Star Spangled Banner* during the Canadians-Islanders game in Montreal...

IMHO - there is never a justified reason for booing, none, nadda....zip!

Who are you?

Oh wow...dem's fighting words...:)

As for the Devils...oh well...more boring hockey...and since I have the misfortune of being a Bruins fan (Motto: "As long as we sell hot dogs and beer...who needs to pay decent players") the closest I'll get to a Stanley Cup is Ray Bourque winning it for Colorado...The ACTUALLY had a Stanley Cup parade for Ray in Boston....How pathetic is that???? It's like "Hey, we know the Bruins will never win this with their current ownership...so let's rub it in their faces by celebrating ANOTHER team's win"

Sorry...I just get angry when I think about the Bruins (which I actually don't do all that often...I have the Red Sox to keep me frustrated...thank you very much...Their Motto:"We won it 5 times before 1918...that's good enough for us...")

Good to know I'm not alone...:)

Go Aeros :p

As for your description of the Bruins and Sox Higgs....ROTFLMFBO!!!!!!!

I agree with you Madonna about booing Giguere (I really can't stand New York/New Jersey fans anyway...sorry...I'm from Boston, it's in the blood...:))

And booing a national anthem...well that's just silly...(for ANY country...and I think Oh Canada has been booed in America...and that's silly as well...)

But I think booing can be justified sometimes....espically if it has to do with a boneheaded play...and besides...booing the refs is a cherished sports tradition...:p

LOL...thanks...

But it is funny because it is the painful truth...us fans of the Boston teams just have to learn to laugh...or else they would drive us nuts...:)

Higgs - have you sat in the seats on the Green Monster yet? When I was little, I used to go to 5-10 Sawks games a year, and dreamt of the the day that they'd put seats up there. I thought they would be the best in baseball. Wicked cool. :smooth:

JP...I would love to sit in the Monster Seats (that's what they call them...grr...I hate cutesy marketing names...)

BUT....those seats sold out for the year in minutes...at $50 per seat...and $25 for standing room (and don't get me started on that...$25 to STAND for a game is just pathetic...the Red Sox should be ashamed at themselves...what a blatant money grab!)
Those are the hottest seats right now...I figure in a couple of years...I'll get my chance...I'm in no hurry...

Besides...I really don't have the disposable income to go to more than one game per year anymore...so I'll wait (and I refuse on principle to pay $25 to get in and then not even have a seat...sorry to keep harping on this...but it just makes me mad  )

Now, when I want my baseball fix...I go to the Portland (ME) Sea Dogs...they are the AA affiliate of the Red Sox...tix are $7 and parking is free...IMHO...it's a much better deal than paying $100 or so (after ticket, parking, and other stuff) to see a game at Fenway (which is outdated and should be blown up and replaced immediately...IT IS A DUMP!! The seats are designed to be comfortable for a small-sized 7-year-old...and it's just dirty and cramped)

OK...sorry...I don't know where this rant is coming from (I know this is WAY more info than you wanted JP :))...just in a bad mood today I guess...I'm getting off my soapbox and going to soak in the spa...:p

I'm with you on the baseball rant. Most stadiums have priced the average family of 4 out of the game. If the Sox had won something in the last 80 years, then maybe they'd be justified, but they haven't....they need to put a better product on the field before they overprice their tix.

Safeco in Seattle is the same way - $20 for nosebleeds, $7 for beer, $5 for a hot dog & $8 for a BBQ sandwich, $10 for parking...by the time you're done, it's upwards of $200. How does the average American afford that more than once a year? I try to take my kids to 3-4 games a year, but I start thinking of all the stuff I can buy with that jack......

geez...listening to you two rant makes me think that perhaps $2.50 a crack for a bottle of Coke at Walt Disney World 'aint such a bad deal...

Actually, it's not. At least when you throw down your $200 for a family of 4 for 1 day at Disney to get in, it's interactive. There's a ton of fun stuff to do. I think that Disney, even at $300 a day (tix & food) is a much better bargain than a baseball game that will last prolly around 2 -3 hrs. Give me a day at Disney any day.

Until they achieve sports Armageddon these ridiculous prices will continue to exist. At the ACC in Toronto it is next to impossible to get platinum seats for a hockey game. When you factor in the seat license cost and ticket price the average ticket is in excess of $500 each. The average ticket at a leaf game is about $50 and they are always sold out. The Leafs have been sold out for over 30 years and the waiting list grows by the day.

That is true. Baseball is by far the most affordable of the "big 4" to attend. I know that tickets for the Jail Blazers games here in Portland start at $25 and go up from there. They do have special "family deal" nights where you get 4 tix, 4 hot dogs & 4 cokes for $40, but the seats absolutely suck. Anything in the lower bowl will run you a C-note each.

lol...are you sure your not a Disney Specialist? I learned this in my *College of Disney Knowledge* course...how to *justify* to a client the price of Disney park admission...8-12 hours of enjoyment vs. 2-3 at a sports event, concert, live theatre etc.

...and I totaly agree - give me a day at Disney instead ANY day!!

I wouldn't say specialist. I grew up in Kissimmee and had year passes all but one year when I was growing up. On Friday nights when I was in middle school, my best friend and I would hitch a ride to Disney with his brother (he worked nights driving a Monorail car) and spend from 6-1 a.m. at the Contemporary Resort in the game room, in the pool or at the lagoon. Disney was much smaller back then, but still held just as much magic for me as it does today. We're moving back to Kissimmee next year (ok, we're aiming for Celebration) so my kids can have the same experience that I did growing up. Central Florida was an absolutely great place to grow up. Granted, the Kissimmee/St. Cloud area was a heck of a lot smaller than it is now, but Celebration reminds me of Kissimmee back then in many ways. If not, we'll have to move to Clermont or something.

JP - you don't have to explain yourself to me. DH and I are moving to "The Stepford community" also - we just don't know when yet...

I wasn't explaining myself to you...just got on a roll typing. :)

So, we gonna have cookouts together? ;)

Can I come visit you guys in Celebration?

-KP

I can't speak for madonna, but you can come hang with me and my fam.....you just gotta put up with my kids. :teeth:

Cookouts? Im in!! But...I'll buy the meat in the US, rather then bringing it in from Canada ;)

KP - if the kids bother you - you can stay with us (Stitch will be most pleased!) :D
