Sooooo excited!

DH has to travel for work quite a bit this summer, so my youngest DS and I plan to use some of that time while he's away to do some traveling of our own. Initially we planned several long weekends in the Northeast - NYC, Boston, Toronto - all driving distance for us. BUT... We lucked out on finding out about Southwest's credit card offer with the 50K Rapid Rewards points - the points cleared this week already, four weeks after we signed up - and DS and I are flying to SoCal for free!!!!

This is the first DLR trip for either of us. DS has been to WDW once, last summer - I've been close to a dozen times. I was able to snag park hoppers at the old prices via GAT, and I've already booked the Fairfield Inn on Harbor for five nights - we'll have four days in the parks, knowing it'll probably be crazy crowded that weekend (right after July 4th).

Off to read the stickies. Just wanted to share my excitement. I CANNOT WAIT for this trip!!!! :woohoo:

Hang around here and let us help you get all your questions answered and, maybe more importantly, get your expectations adjusted and better focused as well for success at DLR.

DLR really rocks and you will be going at a special time with the grand re-opening of DCA. But DLR is not WDW West. It has areas that may disappoint WDW vets and areas that outshine WDW as well. Get your head around that and the usually awesome SoCal weather and I am sure you will have a great trip. Four days will be perfect!

Congrats on heading west. Your going to fall in love with DL!:thumbsup2

Just wanted to say congrats on your trip and have fun planning! I am sure your youngest is going to love Carsland! :cool1:

congrats on your trip! we are WDW vets and while living in SoCal for a yr, absolutely fell in love with DLCA. As PP stated, it is not WDW west...it is a much different experience than WDW. To us, we like it better at DLCA than WDW...and we love WDW. I would definitely suggest rope drop days. Harbor is right there...you will love the closeness to the gates. For us, if the magic meter at WDW is a 10, then at DLCA it is a 12.

You will have so much fun at Disneyland and prepare to fall in love. I went on my first visit in January and got home and decided I loved it and planned another trip for this June. You will have a blast:)
