Hi I know that once you do purchase the travelers insurance it is non refundable, I am looking to book for a September trip but I need to know can I put a 200 hold on a package and once I get cheap air can I add on the insurance at the final payment? I don't want to end up losing the insurance money if it turns out that I can't get a decent airfare. Thanks :sunny:

Actually I believe that you have 14 days in which to cancel the trip insurance without penalty. In fact I just canceled mine today. I had booked last Saturday morning (Visa free dining code) and got the trip ins. as we did last year (we live in FL and have lived through many hurricanes). I made sure to ask my ressie agent if I could change my mind on the ins. She told me I had 14 days. I talked it over with SO and we decided that the $119.90 for the ins. is wasted money to us, because if we do have to cancel the worst we would be out is $200. I would rather pay the extra $80 "if" we had to cancel, than lose $119.90 no matter what. I called today and canceled, no problem at all. I was quoted my new total minus the $119.90.

i just wonder can you add the travel insurance at the final payment??? I do want it especially 'cause traveling with young children-never know if they were to become ill right before the trip. thanks :sunny:

You may not want to use the disney insurance plan. When I got the docs about it today, I had to laugh at what it covered. I cancelled it (that's another story) and booked through a private provider (insuremytrip.com). I now have WAY more coverage (worried about hurricane issues and DH's health) for half the cost.

Can you clarify this for me? I understand the "cancel, then out $200" issue, but what happens if you get your vacation started and have to cancel (interrupt?) after you're there? That's what concerns me the most (sick-prone child) and I'm unsure how that would work both with and without insurance. Can you help? Thanks!

On a trip we had a couple of years ago, my dd got sick in Tennessee on our drive to WDW. I had my dh call up WDW and tell them we were staying over an extra night in Tenn because of a sick child and we had to cancel our first night and change all of our ADR's for the trip. It was no problem. The person my dh spoke with had to talk to a manager, but it didn't seem like it was a big issue. I never realized that people get trip insurance for situations like this.

On another note, I also declined the trip insurance. I figured that if we had to cancel then I would just lose $200.

Is that right? I did not realize that all I would be out is $80 more than what I paid for the insurance! Worst case scenario....if someone happened the night before our trip and I had to cancel....all I would be out is the $200?

Please forgive my ignorance but we have never stayed on a package before and in my excitement I said yes to the insurance but still have a week to cancel that.

Yes and if you buy the insurance and cancel before the 45 day mark- you are out $120! If you don't buy insurance and cancel before the 45 day mark- you get all your money back.

MUST call tomorrow and cancel.....

Do you know if they will send me another confirmation after I do that?

Do any companies' cover you for extra days on vacation if you cant fly out due to a hurricane? The cost of the hotel, rental car......

These are the only things I am concerned about really.
