My DD and I started pin trading on our last trip, and have never been to any pin trading events. We will be in WDW late this week and next, and I'm hoping for advice on what is worth going to, and what we can expect there. There is a Superstar Trading Team event at one of the All Star resorts, and I know on Friday there is something at the Contemporary. Can anyone help?

Thanks

The last time I went to WDW I was a pin trading rookie and went to the ASSp and thr CR pin trading nights. I had a good time. It was a good mix of casual traders and the hard core types. It is worth checking out.

There is a difference in the events you mention. Mickey's Super Star Trading Team is a special event, held Saturday April 12th from 1:00 - 5:00 at All Star Sports. It has already been announced that certain limited edition (L/E) pins will be released. To get more information, go to this web page:

On the other hand, the weekly pin meets which are held Thursday evenings at All Star Sports and Friday evenings at the Contemporary are designed more for informal trading, and there is no expectation that any new pins will be available at that time (although sometimes there are).

Both the weekly pin meets and the special Trading Team Event will include special activities for younger traders, which may be of interest if your daughter is under the age of 12 (I think it's 12).

If you are new to trading I should warn you that there will be long lines on April 12th and sometimes a few traders get a tad obnoxious about their inability to grab up every pin on the planet. If you are prepared and willing, though, you should be able to get some L/E pins that could prove to be good traders down the road. Since there are 2500 of each I would expect them to be available for awhile so you could gamble that there will be pins left at the end of the event. That way you could enjoy the less stressful parts of the event and avoid the lines. Of course, some of the best pin friends I have I've met in line, so don't let a few bad apples scare you away.

Welcome to pin trading. I hope you have fun and come back for more events in the future.

Cynthia

Thank you, Cynthia, for the details. We aren't exactly "hard-core" yet, and we'll be spending the morning in the park, so we probably won't get there right at the beginning. We'll have enough long lines at Space Mountain, I think. ;)
