Hello All!

I would appreciate some advice. My brother and I are planning a trip to WDW in mid-May (counting the days!! ). We are staying onsite at POFQ.

We are planning to spend one or two days at Universal Studios/IOA. I have never been there before, so I'm pretty excited! :)

So my question is: What would be the best mode of transportation to get from our resort in WDW to US/IOA? Should we take a taxi? Are there any taxi services that you would recommend? Around how much would that trip cost with a taxi? How about a Mears shuttle? Costs? Has anyone used Mears for something like this and would you recommend them?

(Caveat: Yes, I know that renting a car would be the easiest way, but my brother and I plan to spend some time at Universal CityWalk and, quite frankly, drink lots of margaritas. Being responsible adults, we do not want to be driving in this situation.) :scared1:

Theres a few companies to name of United Taxi, Yellow Cab etc. Either way in O-town it's somewhat pricey. You're probably looking at $50-100 (plus tip) round trip give/take but don't quote me on it. It's always better being reponsable. Usually the hotel/resort you're staying should have free scheduled complementary transportation.

Actually, I don't think that we'll be able to get "complimentary" transport from POFQ to Universal because Walt Disney World does not want to be transporting people back and forth to their competition!

Wow, I didn't realize the taxis would be so expensive. :scared1:
Does anyone out there have any other ideas?

The last time we did it was from Downtown Disney to Royal Pacific and it cost us $30 plus tip, one way.

When we went from Royal Pacific to Animal Kingdom it was a different story because Disney charges $10 for a taxi to drop you off. There is no drop off charge at Universal.

You can also get Mears to pick you up and drop you off. I think it is a bit cheaper.

You can take a Mears shuttle for $16 per person round trip. Just call 24 hours in advance.

I would just like to thank everyone for your ideas!:worship:

Looks like we'll be going with Mears - I'll call before we go for more information and keep their number on hand to make our reservations while we are down there.

Thanks again!:)
