WDW to charge fee for no shows at 19 Signature Restaurants

What do you think about the neww no-show fees. Chose as many answers as appropriate.

  • No Shows should be charged any fee WDW thinks appropriate

  • $10 per person is OK but the $25 fee is excessive.

  • The fee should not exceed a certain limit, regardless of # of guests in the party.

  • Its just another way for WDW to make money.

  • That money was just burning a hole in my pocket anyway.

What do you think about this?

According to the WDWMagic.com blog as reported in USAToday:

Beginning Oct. 26, customers making dinner reservations at many of the resort's better restaurants will be asked for a credit card number. If they don't cancel at least 24 hours in advance, the card will be charged $10 per person.

The new policy applies to 19 signature restaurants at the resort, including the upscale Victoria & Albert's, where the tab for no-shows will be $25 per person.

Currently, four Disney World dining venues, Cinderella's Royal Table, Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and Mickey's Backyard BBQ, which require pre-paid tickets, don't offer refunds for cancellations made less than a day in advance.

WDWMagic.com says the penalty is aimed at ensuring greater availability at its most popular eateries.

I love it. When I was just at WDW at Ohana a lot of empty tables and yet no reservations were open when I wanted to make a slight adjustment in time. This was at the 6 PM hour by the way. So I welcome it. I mean really is that hard to call or log in or visit Guest Services and make your cancelation?

While there may be someDVC Owners perspective that differs from cash guests because DVCers generally are more frequent Disney visitors, the overall policy is Disney World Wide. There is already a discussion thread for this change on the DVC boards where DVCers can express their happiness or sorrow with this policy.

I will be closing this one.
