WDW Tickets Question - Am I dumb?

I'm a dis-a-holic and I'm trying to get my wife to share my addiction. Anyhow you can imagine my surprise the other day when she said "Hey, why don't we go to Disney World in August?". Well since then I've been trying to find the best deals on hotels/tickets etc. I found on the disney website that theres a base ticket, with a world hopper option as well as an option for other parks. I thought you could get into the water parks with your regular ticket, but its almost 100 dollars more for us to go to the water parks? My wife really wanted to do that but that's a lot of money for one day at a water park. Has it always been that way, or could you use your regular ticket before?

If you are only looking at doing the water parks for one day......just buy a regular ticket for that water park.....do not add it as an option.

The new tickets are really designed for many different people and I think they are great. But you do have to put some thought into what will work for you.

If you are going for just 5 days and you know you will only go to one park each of those days......then just get the base ticket.
But if you are like most people and like to hit one park in the morning and another in the evening....it really is great to add the "hopper" option.

I think they did a great job of making it more affordable for families that are going for a week and plan to do just one park each day.

Then if you are going for 10 days.....even better!
