Day 8 Thursday October 11th!
Today well make rope drop for AK, no breakfast scheduled so we will actually get to sleep in a little bit (WHAT? Getting to the parks for a 9AM opening?!). This day well just head back to the parts we missed (Nemo or Lion King show hopefully), ride Dinosaur & EE, the safari, and head over to Rafikis Planet Watch to pet some goats. A pretty easy morning, and the schedule will just be dictated by what we saw/did on Sunday.
We do have a lunch ADR at Y&Y which Im really excited about (I actually realized when starting to write out what wed do, we didnt have a lunch ADR and was wondering why! But luckily Y&Y isnt one of the hard ones to get so I was able to get it for noon!). I am most excited about the dessert, but lets see what well eat to start with
I can see myself getting the Lettuce Cups for Two - minced chicken breast, chopped vegetables, maple tamarind sauce, crisp lettuce cups $13.99 and the Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle $7.99
Andrew might get Kobe Beef Burger - 10 oz grilled American Kobe beef burger, sesame-soy sauce, mayonnaise, crispy shoestring fries. topped with choice of shiitake mushroom & scallion compote or Asian slaw $18.49 since this evenings dinner will be seafood, I think I will remind him of that when he sees the MalAsian Seafood Curry - Mahi Mahi, scallops, little neck clams, mussels, shrimp, zucchini, roma tomatoes, red curry coconut broth, and jasmine rice $22.99 but he may not be swayed and get that anyway. Hell sneak a few bites of my dessert, too Im sure. Hehe
After lunch well probably head back to the resort to spend some time pool side. Or I might sway Andrew to make a visit to DTD, or maybe just go and do a little shopping by myself (now THAT is trouble ). Either way should be a relaxing afternoon, followed by an early dinner at Flying Fish. Weve discovered 5:30 is an ideal dining time with Arias schedule, as we went out to a fancy pants restaurant over the weekend (they didnt even have high chairs eek) and she did FANTASTIC. I was so proud. We brought her puffs, pureed pears, rice crackers, some toys, and she loved watching all the waiters walk by (who loved to stop and chat with her). Not a cry or squeal or anything. Really made me less anxious about all the restaurant time well have.
Anyway for dinner, I would LOVE to get some swordfish, as it was one of my favorite meals on the last trip (had kalamata olives, capers, etc YUM) but Im not really supposed to due to mercury content. I havent had swordfish since early 2011 though, so I might consider breaking the rule ONCE if it appears as a special on the menu.
There are three apps which all look yummy: Vegetarian Sushi Roll - Tofu, Avocado, summer radish, young carrot roll, cucmber-seaweed salad and piquant mango and Asian cream accents $12.00
Our Chef's Degustation of Worldly Artisanal Cheeses - Five Tasting Portions and accompaniments Raisins on the Vine, Membrillo, Honeycomb, Pumello-Red Onion-Golden Raisin-Yuzu Compote Agrodolce $16.00
Fresh Mozzarella di Bufala - Florida Yellow Beefsteak, Heirloom and Toybox Tomatoes, aged Balsamico, Exotic Peppercorns, Petite Basil, and Sicilian Olio Verde $15.00 (I LOVE caprese salad, its the only salad I will EVER order)
For Andrew he might get Chardonnay-steamed PEI "Canadian Cove" Mussels - Fennel, Chiles, Pesto Crema, and Ciabatta Crostini $18.00
Or Crispy Sesame and Togarashi-scented Calamari - Spiced Green Papaya, Wakame, and Vegetable Julienne, with Asian Dipping Sauce $15.00
For an entrée, their veg option sounds delicious: Rustic Riccota, Swiss Chard, Portabella, Epcot Eggplant, Sun-dried tomato and herb crepe "lasagna" - baby arugula, local yellow tomato coulis, fontina-parmigiano creama and basil infused oil $26
And Andrew might get Ginger and Teriyaki Char-Crusted Yellowfin Tuna - bok choy, Asian mushrooms, carrots, snap and snow peas, with a lightly curried carrot-coconut lemongrass infusion $38.00 though this is a total guess because everything looks a little bit different than what he might normally order. He loves trying new things, and I think he will stick to a seafood dish since this IS Flying Fish after all, but they all sound good.
Hands down, I will get Our Signature Flying Fish Café Caramelized Banana Napoleon - crisp phyllo, banana mousse, creme caramel, exotic fruit coulis and bitter chocolate $8.00 for dessert and Andrew will probably just have a bite.
Cant wait for this meal!
After dinner, we may just head back, or we may put Aria into jammies and head over to a park! Fantasmic is going on this evening supposedly at 8, and EPCOT is open until 9. My plans kind of taper off towards the end of the 10 days, but like I said a lot will depend on how much weve done and seen over the previous days (and how tired we are!).
And just for a bit of Aria fun, let me tell you what weve been up to recently hehe
Last weekend we spent 2 nights on Cape Cod at Andrews parents house. Friday night we left Aria with them and went out to a nice meal by ourselves which was fun. We had dinner here:
And then went for dessert at Pisces in Chatham, which was AMAZING. We couldnt get ressies here for dinner so we just sat at the bar and I got Bananas Foster (My all time favorite dessert, if anyone hears of a place that serves it tableside please let me know!). Its very unassuming from the exterior but there was literally a line out the door for people to get in.
Saturday morning Andrew and his father spent some time with their boats, getting them into the water and gassed up and all that. Then we took Aria out in the boat and had lunch on the beach. She loved the water, sand, and everything about being out there so that was wonderful.
After this we headed back to the house to get ready for dinner. This is when we ate out at the restaurant without a high chair. It was Bucas in Chatham.
I had an amazing goat cheese polenta and a goat cheese eggplant dish as my main, Andrew had mussels and then a seafood mix Caccuicco Cherrystones, Mussels, Calamari, Shrimp and Fresh Catch Fish in a Rich Tomato Sauce Redolent of the Tuscan Coast, Garlic Toast as his main (SEE I told you he is predictable!!).Sunday morning we left early to head home and had a relaxing day at home. Aria was full blown crawling all over the place. Heres some pictures
We were wondering what Aria could possibly be doing in the front hall, when I turned the corner I saw THIS naughty little girl on Sunday night LOL
Last night when I got home from work, I looked over to see Aria had pulled herself onto her knees using the ottoman. As I watched, she fully pulled herself to standing. Shes ridiculous. Hahah
