WDW through an 8-month-old’s eyes &10m &13m &16m...New 10/30!

Day 8 – Thursday October 11th!
Today we’ll make rope drop for AK, no breakfast scheduled so we will actually get to sleep in a little bit (WHAT? Getting to the parks for a 9AM opening?!). This day we’ll just head back to the parts we missed (Nemo or Lion King show hopefully), ride Dinosaur & EE, the safari, and head over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch to pet some goats. A pretty easy morning, and the schedule will just be dictated by what we saw/did on Sunday.

We do have a lunch ADR at Y&Y which I’m really excited about (I actually realized when starting to write out what we’d do, we didn’t have a lunch ADR and was wondering why! But luckily Y&Y isn’t one of the hard ones to get so I was able to get it for noon!). I am most excited about the dessert, but let’s see what we’ll eat to start with…

I can see myself getting the Lettuce Cups for Two - minced chicken breast, chopped vegetables, maple tamarind sauce, crisp lettuce cups $13.99 and the Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle $7.99

Andrew might get Kobe Beef Burger - 10 oz grilled American Kobe beef burger, sesame-soy sauce, mayonnaise, crispy shoestring fries. topped with choice of shiitake mushroom & scallion compote or Asian slaw $18.49 since this evening’s dinner will be seafood, I think I will remind him of that when he sees the MalAsian Seafood Curry - Mahi Mahi, scallops, little neck clams, mussels, shrimp, zucchini, roma tomatoes, red curry coconut broth, and jasmine rice $22.99 but he may not be swayed and get that anyway. He’ll sneak a few bites of my dessert, too I‘m sure. Hehe

After lunch we’ll probably head back to the resort to spend some time pool side. Or I might sway Andrew to make a visit to DTD, or maybe just go and do a little shopping by myself (now THAT is trouble…). Either way should be a relaxing afternoon, followed by an early dinner at Flying Fish. We’ve discovered 5:30 is an ideal dining time with Aria’s schedule, as we went out to a fancy pants restaurant over the weekend (they didn’t even have high chairs…eek) and she did FANTASTIC. I was so proud. We brought her puffs, pureed pears, rice crackers, some toys, and she loved watching all the waiters walk by (who loved to stop and chat with her). Not a cry or squeal or anything. Really made me less anxious about all the restaurant time we’ll have.

Anyway for dinner, I would LOVE to get some swordfish, as it was one of my favorite meals on the last trip (had kalamata olives, capers, etc YUM) but I’m not really supposed to due to mercury content. I haven’t had swordfish since early 2011 though, so I might consider breaking the rule ONCE if it appears as a special on the menu.

There are three apps which all look yummy: Vegetarian Sushi Roll - Tofu, Avocado, summer radish, young carrot roll, cucmber-seaweed salad and piquant mango and Asian cream accents $12.00

Our Chef's Degustation of Worldly Artisanal Cheeses - Five Tasting Portions and accompaniments Raisins on the Vine, Membrillo, Honeycomb, Pumello-Red Onion-Golden Raisin-Yuzu Compote Agrodolce $16.00

Fresh Mozzarella di Bufala - Florida Yellow Beefsteak, Heirloom and Toybox Tomatoes, aged Balsamico, Exotic Peppercorns, Petite Basil, and Sicilian Olio Verde $15.00 (I LOVE caprese salad, it’s the only salad I will EVER order)

For Andrew he might get Chardonnay-steamed PEI "Canadian Cove" Mussels - Fennel, Chiles, Pesto Crema, and Ciabatta Crostini $18.00

Or Crispy Sesame and Togarashi-scented Calamari - Spiced Green Papaya, Wakame, and Vegetable Julienne, with Asian Dipping Sauce $15.00

For an entrée, their veg option sounds delicious: Rustic Riccota, Swiss Chard, Portabella, Epcot Eggplant, Sun-dried tomato and herb crepe "lasagna" - baby arugula, local yellow tomato coulis, fontina-parmigiano creama and basil infused oil $26

And Andrew might get Ginger and Teriyaki Char-Crusted Yellowfin Tuna - bok choy, Asian mushrooms, carrots, snap and snow peas, with a lightly curried carrot-coconut lemongrass infusion $38.00 though this is a total guess because everything looks a little bit different than what he might normally order. He loves trying new things, and I think he will stick to a seafood dish since this IS Flying Fish after all, but they all sound good.

Hands down, I will get Our Signature Flying Fish Café Caramelized Banana Napoleon - crisp phyllo, banana mousse, creme caramel, exotic fruit coulis and bitter chocolate $8.00 for dessert and Andrew will probably just have a bite.

Can’t wait for this meal!

After dinner, we may just head back, or we may put Aria into jammies and head over to a park! Fantasmic is going on this evening supposedly at 8, and EPCOT is open until 9. My plans kind of taper off towards the end of the 10 days, but like I said a lot will depend on how much we’ve done and seen over the previous days (and how tired we are!).

And just for a bit of Aria fun, let me tell you what we’ve been up to recently hehe

Last weekend we spent 2 nights on Cape Cod at Andrew’s parents house. Friday night we left Aria with them and went out to a nice meal by ourselves which was fun. We had dinner here:

And then went for dessert at Pisces in Chatham, which was AMAZING. We couldn’t get ressies here for dinner so we just sat at the bar and I got Bananas Foster (My all time favorite dessert, if anyone hears of a place that serves it tableside please let me know!). It’s very unassuming from the exterior but there was literally a line out the door for people to get in.

Saturday morning Andrew and his father spent some time with their boats, getting them into the water and gassed up and all that. Then we took Aria out in the boat and had lunch on the beach. She loved the water, sand, and everything about being out there so that was wonderful.

After this we headed back to the house to get ready for dinner. This is when we ate out at the restaurant without a high chair. It was Buca’s in Chatham.

6_htmlpane4_2_.jpg

I had an amazing goat cheese polenta and a goat cheese eggplant dish as my main, Andrew had mussels and then a seafood mix – Caccuicco Cherrystones, Mussels, Calamari, Shrimp and Fresh Catch Fish in a Rich Tomato Sauce Redolent of the Tuscan Coast, Garlic Toast as his main (SEE I told you he is predictable!!).Sunday morning we left early to head home and had a relaxing day at home. Aria was full blown crawling all over the place. Here’s some pictures…

We were wondering what Aria could possibly be doing in the front hall, when I turned the corner I saw THIS naughty little girl on Sunday night…LOL…

Last night when I got home from work, I looked over to see Aria had pulled herself onto her knees using the ottoman. As I watched, she fully pulled herself to standing. She’s ridiculous. Hahah

Yeah it was lucky to get the ADR for sure. Like I said, I hope it's good for ya! :) your day plans sound great. My BFF works at y&y during the summer and weekends during the school year in the store :) I've never eaten there. We've only spent any kind of time at AK when we were there in December of '09. I loved the lion king show! I'm glad y'all had a nice weekend away :) looks like fun and that's really great that Aria enjoys eating out so much. Alex was easy with eating out at that age too. Now that he's almost 21 mo it's a different story :-/. He's not awful but it's harder now that he doesn't want to be confined in a high chair. Too funny about Aria pulling up on random things :) she will be walking before you know it!

Adorable pictures of Aria as usual :)

I like the decor of the Flying Fish cafe! Very pretty.

You have me wanting to go to Yak & Yeti now. I was there when it first opened and really liked it. Hmmmm. I'll have to check out if they have an opening!

OMG, have you seen the PLL finale yet??

To answer you question- we didn't take any of Everett solo. We only had 20 minutes and with so many of us, it was too much. I also think blue is a great choice. I think the the white/khaki we went with looked a little washed out with the sand/water backdrop, but it was tough to think of anything else easy for so many people.

Congrats on getting BOG, that is going to be a must do for us in April!

I think your day at AK sounds great, especially the wonton dessert! I would go there just for that alone! :)

Yummy, Flying Fish is a great choice! I can never seem to order anything other than the snapper, but one day I will break the cycle, ha ha!

Hello!!

I LOVE BANANAS FOSTER!!! I actually had it when I was in CO at a little Bistro but it was just meh... It didn't have good carmelization or anything!

Aria is adorable as always. I hope your place is baby proofed!!

Did you get a call from Disney regarding the 3D Dessert Party?

Aw, those pics of Aria in the sand are precious!!

I'm glad she did well at the restaurant. Paxton was NEVER a cooperative restaurant goer at that age, but he's getting better. Just this weekend, he was with my parents and they went to a seafood restaurant that is popular down here. He made friends with the hostess, who took him behind the register and let him push buttons and carry checks out to other customers! :lmao: Hopefully both of our kiddos will continue being good in restaurants at least through our trips!!

MMM you need to eat there! It's so so good! We will see how she does as she gets older, though she is already at the stage she doesn't like being confined. Luckily eating snacks, purees, etc has really helped keep her occupied but I'm going to have to come up with a good system for WDW bc she gets bored with the toys pretty quickly but I can't carry around 5 new toys for each restaurant...LOL

OMG! You made me finally go and watch the final 3 PLL's that were sitting in my DVR. WOW. I'm so glad it starts back up again late October, not too bad of a wait. I can't believe it, poor Spencer! I bet Y&Y will have availability...I got my ADR for lunch while I was writing up the day's plans LOL.

LOL I tried to get Andrew to order the snapper but he isn't adventurous enough to try seafood he hasn't had before, I guess. And neither am I, though I don't proclaim to eat seafood anyway...wonton dessert is DELISH! MM. can't wait for it!

ME TOO! HAHA. Too bad about them screwing it up, it's actually a super easy dessert to make (Andrew has learned how and makes it ever so often for me...) We're working on the baby proofing as needed LOL. Finally got the outlets covered, baby gates confining her to living room, and a fireplace guard for the brick fireplace (which she used to LOVE and ever since we put the guard up she hasn't crawled over to once haha).

I did get a call - starts at 8PM now? That works for me, more time to enjoy the F&W booths!

Aw, those pics of Aria in the sand are precious!!

Thanks! I spoke too soon about restaurants LOL.

We went to a japanese place Saturday. Small, intimate, and QUIET. Aria starts with her LOUD voice, just chattering away (HAPPILY thankfully). But she is super duper loud and has one volume. Had to take her outside, LOL!

That is so so cute about the restaurant and Paxton, I bet he had a blast!

OK WOW 4 more weeks until we leave! And I'm like freaking out over all the stuff I need to pack. I'm working on a list. I did spend some time over the weekend trying on some outfits on Aria, because for SOME reason I thought that at 8 months, 12 month outfits would fit so ALL those cute Disney ones I got are 12m...AND all the outfits I handmade (Tink dress, the fish top & bloomers) are way WAY too big, like 18m size. UGH!

I plan to do day by day ziploc bags. Since we are moving resorts after 3 days, I plan to pack 1 suitcase with all our clothes and supplies for the first 3 days, and then the rest be in the 2nd full size suitcase so we don't even have to open or unpack that one while at BLT.

Anyway my list so far:

-Birth Certificate & Copies
-High Chair Cover
-clip on for stroller seat to make a high chair (maybe use in restaurants, but will def use in room)
-Nursing pillow & extra cover
-Crib Sheets
-Pack n Play sheets (in case we don't get a crib for some reason)
-Kids Nite out #/contact info (need to call them both times we check in with room # info)
-Daily Plans in ziplocs with all confirmation #s
-Addresses for resorts
-Outfits laid out with spares
-Outfits for photo shoot
-Shoes for Aria just in case (I Heard babies have to wear shoes or some charactes won't meet them, so I thought I'd pack a pair just in case) - also she is pulling up, by then I think she will want to put her feet down and it'd be nice if she would wear shoes to keep them clean(ER)...
-Shampoo for Aria, bath toys
-Pool Float
-Swim Diapers
-Swim Suits & Rash Guards
-Jammies
-Sweaters
-Ear phones (to block fireworks)
-Sunglasses
-Sunscreen
-Bug Repellant
-Tylenol (I think this is the only med we can bring for her anyway?)
-Cold meds for us, Ibuprofin
-Sun Hats
-SPF blanket, plus other blankets
-car seat bag
-Stroller bag
-Stroller tray
-Puffs & food for Aria (couple days' worth)
-Spoons, sippy cups, plates
-Bottles
-Pump/supplies
-Sleep dolphin (we use this at nap time & bed time)
-Monitor
-Dish Soap
-Stroller Rain Cover
-Clip on chair
-Our toiletries
-Clothes for us (including 3+ dresses for fancier evenings)
-Makeup (I never wear makeup but would like to for some of the evenings or a photoshoot or whatever)
-Diapers
-Wet Bags
-Laundry Detergent
-Wipes (LOTS)
-Diaper ointment
-Headbands to match all her outfits w/ bows
-Socks in case room is cold (currently we never put them on her but just in case...)
-Few water bottles
-Few bottles of wine
-Cash for tips - mousekeeping, Kids Nite out, etc
-Laptop/ipad for tranferring photos
-Spare camera batteries
-Waterproof Camera
-AP VOUCHERS
-ME VOUCHERS & TAGS
-DISNEY GIFT CARDS (Have like $1200 worth, it would be BAD to forget)
-Spare credit cards just in case, packed in different bags
-Spare ID's just in case (passports or work IDs)
-Insurance ID's just in case
-Possibly bringing her movement monitor for her crib. She has slept a total of ONE night without it and it freaks me out not knowing if she is breathing or not. LOL! But they are bulky so we may or may not bring them. Undecided at this point...

Ok seriously what am I missing? We will be packing 3-4 check in suitcases (I KNOW I KNOW and at least 1 of those will be completely empty, preparing for all the fun stuff we will bring home). For Carry On's - we will have 1) Large purse for me, 2) Diaper bag with spare outfits, swim items, etc for 1st night, 3) Backpack which will probably be our park bag that we will keep easily accessible & keep valuables in it to bring on rides, and 4) a carry on suitcase with outfits for us, travel size toiletries for all of us, PJs, etc.

Oh, I should add jewelry for myself to go with outfits. I just placed an order on the Disney website, because I'm going to make Aria a headband with Minnie Ears, and I got myself a Tink fleece pullover, 2 pairs of PJ pants, a lanyard w/ a place to put cards, and some reusable bags.

I also got a super cute Rapunzel costume through my swap site, but it is size 3-6m so I am worried as to how it will fit. Her Sleeping Beauty dress is still HUGE on her, so it seems they run really big (her Minnie costume is BIG but semi-fits, well enough for her to wear at least).

Anyway please let me know what else I am missing, or any other tips for packing. I am in no way a good packer, I tend to take way more than I need, which for this trip I hope to do. For Europe next year, we will really have to pare it down since we'll be travelling city to city, but that's a whole other story.

what about baby oragel or something like that for teething? Everett usually waited until we arrived at WDW to cut teeth. :rotfl:

Oh, and I don't know if you thought about this, but you can order diapers/wipes/swim diapers from diapers.com and just have them shipped to the resort. That way you don't have to worry about packing so many in your suitcase. We've done it for all of Everett's trips and it worked great. I know some people like to pack diapers so they will have the extra space for souvenirs, but I like to try to get away with as little as possible when we are flying.

I don't have anything to add to your list, but WOW this is a great preview of all the things we'll need to think about for Dug Baby's first trip! So much extra stuff to bring! That's a bummer about her outfits being too big....excuses to take future trips, I guess! Cute pictures of her crawling and enjoying the water!

I added baby oragel to my list along with teething items, plane toys , and the ipad I bought recently that she can chew on or drool on lol. Thank you!!

We plan to cloth diaper while there which is why I am bringing them. I may plan to order or buy wipes and food though. I'd like to have enough for the first 3 days though so we don't have to grocery shop until we move to the condo. Thanks for the tips though I'm sort of on the fence about cloth diapering at this point but think we will still do it. It's not that much work but still more difficult than disposables of course.

Thank you :) yeah it is a LOT BUT I also like to pack a house full of stuff just in case. You pro don't need it all lol and I will be able to say what we did not need OR wished we had when we get back which will hopefully prepare us for the much shorter December trip. :) sorry I have been SO bad about other PTR and TRS. And of course today I can't get into my work computer so I am on my phone lol.

(trying to remember your list here!)

Since she is over 6 months, she can take infant ibuprofen, which does last longer. It's nice to have for over night/would be nice for park days if she does happen to be teething while you are there (wouldn't need to take that bottle of Tylenol with you).

Take as few sippy cups, etc as you can and wash them. Also, with spoons: we found packs at the dollar store (of all places) of baby spoons that are actually pretty good! They are reusable (dishwasher safe) and packs of 12 or 16 (I think). I got those to take with and then I could toss them as we went (when we were out and about), but washed them when we were in the condo. It was nice not to have to worry about bringing her "real" spoons back.

Be careful with shoes! Hannah had super cute Minnie Mouse shoes that we lost one of in AK! Thankfully, it did shoe up in central Lost and Found the next day, but Aria probably will find a way to get the shoes off when you aren't looking if she is in a stroller ;p!

Are you packing a couple of her fav toys to play with in the hotel/condo? H enjoyed having a few of her "noisy" toys to play with, along with stacking rings and we managed to get her activity table in a suitcase (so she could pull up and cruise around)! Kept her happy and engaged and more like home.

I had another though, but the one year old trying to eat my iPhone is quite distracting for some reason :)

Wow, that's a big list. I don't have kids so I am no help LOL.

So you watched the PLL finale! Do you think Toby is working for the A-team for Spencer? Just to find out what's going on for her and the girls, to protect them? Can't wait for the Halloween episode!

Wow! That is quite the list, but it's great that you will be prepared! So happy that you got a ressie for Be Our Guest!

Thank you, I will bring some ibuprofin, i forgot she can take it now (I did buy some, along with orajel, when I was pregnant). We have 2 sippy cups in the style she seems to prefer, so we will bring those.

Question - tips on crawling spots? Aria loves to be on the ground/floor crawling (and now pulling up and moving around...) and it would be nice to give her space in the parks to do that aside from just the pool time & condo time.

Wow, that's a big list. I don't have kids so I am no help LOL.

LOL It's okay ,a year ago I would have seen that list and promptly ignored it.

I wouldn't be surprised if your theory is correct, considering your track record (Mona!) but at the same time IDK they definitely gave him an evil air that last episode! LOL

Wow! That is quite the list, but it's great that you will be prepared! So happy that you got a ressie for Be Our Guest!

Thanks me too!

OH MY GOSH!!!! I never thought about this happening, but I can totally believe it!!!

Yay! Another PLL fan! :yay: When Toby turned around I was like 'NOOOOOO!' I love Toby! I don't want him to be evil.

I don't either! Can't wait for the next one!.

To everyone that I'm (poorly) following PTR/TR's Im so sorry! I suck. LOL. Work has been so busy and it used to be my "me" time (LOL that sounds awful but true) but now it's all over the place.

Day 9 – Friday October 12th!

YAY this day is going to be AWESOME! And we don’t even have that many plans for the day itself LOL. Tentative plans have us going to DHS for rope drop and spending the morning there, but that is totally open. We also have a lunch ADR at Raglan Road, so depending on how we are feeling I can see talking Andrew into a park morning, hoping to DTD, lunching it there and then doing some shopping. Andrew would probably prefer this to be a sleep in day (wait, a 9AM RD IS sleeping in…ahem…) so we will see.
the%20rogues.jpg

raglanroad.jpg

For lunch I will probably get: Pie in the Sky - Reach new heights with our chicken & wild mushroom pie served with a (non -NASA) rocket lettuce.
And Andrew will possibly get Fish & Chips - Our famous beer battered fish n chips served with our fresh tartar sauce. (Ask our lovely server for gluten free option)

Is it the bread pudding you’re supposed to get here? I forget, and it’s been almost 5 years since we last ate here!
Ger’s Bread & Butter Pudding
Like no other pudding you have ever tried.
Believe us.

This evening however, we are utilizing Kid’s Nite Out for a second time, and going to EPCOT for the 3D Dessert Party! YAY! We have KNO scheduled to arrive at 4, then we are going to EPCOT and enjoy some F&W events! I would LOVE LOVE to check out the new wine cellar, so if we haven’t already that will be on the docket. Plus probably the tequila cave too. MMM. Then the dessert party which ends with a 3D viewing of Illuminations, so I can’t wait for that. It is so nice to be able to have two evenings planned during our trip where Aria will get in bed at a reasonable time but we get to for sure see Wishes and Illuminations. It makes it easier to say we may or may not watch them when she is with us knowing we will at LEAST get to see each once. I just don’t know how late nights will go, when she is used to sleeping by 7:30.

On that sleeping note, we are going through a fun stage. Every couple of nights she wakes screaming, we bring her into bed with us, she falls right asleep, we try to put her back ,she screams, etc etc. I can’t sleep with her in the bed with us as I’m just too paranoid. So I’m tired.

Anyway, we did some Disney practice this past weekend!! YAY! We went to a renaissance faire Saturday which was really fun! AND I nursed while there! LOL. That was a big feat for me, let me tell ya. We almost just left so I could nurse her in the car (no readmittance!) but I decided to just go for it (with a cover) and it was fine! She had a blast and enjoyed it all, no crying, she napped in the stroller, it was just perfect!

They were selling these chairs for $89 plus shipping, the footrest extra. I went on Amazon at the same time and saw the exact same chair for $40 with shipping. YUP it’s on its way! LOL

This was a very inappropriate show (and BTW Aria didn’t nap that well in the stroller, just about 30 minutes, but woke up happy and smiling and she even waited to be fed until the show was over and I found a spot to nurse!

And I mentioned somewhere earlier, but she’s up on everything now. I swear it won’t be long til she is walking. She “cruises” on furniture now, and just wants to be standing ALL the time.

Also in this update, we figured out what outfits we will wear to match Aria. In the end, I decided to wear pink with a light tan skirt, and Andrew will wear blue with light tan khakis. I know I wanted us to match but I just didn’t have anything that went perfectly and don’t really have the time to go shopping. Here are some pics of Aria trying on some of her outfits though.

Just a cute outfit she got hehe

Got this Rapunzel dress from my swap group, it is NWT! Size 3-6m but still fits my little cookie. Not sure when she will wear it though, except just for a day at MK? I don’t think she will come across Rapunzel anywhere else (besides MNSSHP).

This is a Pooh dress (0-3m) turned tunic. She will wear this one at CP!
