We have decided to wait and see on this weekend, not to try and fly early. Going to see if our flight goes on saturday, if it does then we will go, if not we will fly down when the airline can fly us out or else cancel the flight if we can get our money back....Anyone else thinking this way or just us. See ya all there I hope....:sunny:

I haven't cancelled anything yet, either. We're scheduled to arrive Friday night. We've got (a little) time. My local meteorologist as I write this is saying that it most probably will hit more south and will be a category 2 by the time it gets to Orlando on Sunday -- of course all subject to change depending on if she turns or keeps on her current track. He said by tonight we'll know.

Please everyone stay safe, that is most important!!!

I really doubt that you will get a flight here on Saturday. They are telling all the locals to be off the roads by early Saturday because we will already be feeling storm force winds and torrential downpours. Sanford International Airport has already announced that it will be closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Britsh Airways announced it has cancelled all flights into the Orlando area for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I would image MCO and the other airlines will follow suit shortly.

I don't know what your local news is telling you, but our local news indicates that Frances will be a category 4 storm when it makes landfall. Right now, the most likely path makes it come ashore near Ft. Lauderdale. It will track just to the left of Orlando. Yesterday, they had the eye coming directly over Orlando. This is all subject to change, but they are saying regardless of where it makes landfall all of Florida will feel this one. In Orlando, we should expect 5 to 6 hours of hurricane force winds and a possible 13 to 20 inches of rain. All of the schools are closed starting tomorrow and shelters are opening. Mandatory evacuations start this afternoon for residents on the east coast.

You might want to postpone your trip until the middle of next week. You could be coming into a bad situation. A vacation without electrical power doesn't sound fun to me. If I had a way to leave, I'd be doing it.

I wouldn't count on any flights on Saturday. I am sure that Friday travelers are going to have problems getting here.

Just reschedule and come when you can enjoy the trip.

The airlines are allowing you to reschedule with no penalty. Ofcourse there are some restrictions. THat was on CNN this morning.

As for Disney they said this in the local paper.
But as of Wednesday, Disney temporarily is allowing people to cancel reservations without penalty. For every visitor who calls to cancel, Disney will make a room available for locals in need, said Jacquee Polak, spokeswoman for Walt Disney World. " If we could make it [rooms] available, we would like to," Polak said, including time-share resort rooms.

As a native I would advise anyone who does not live here to stay away this weekend. Even the Governor is advising visitors not to come. This is a very big and powerful storm. It should be taken verrry seriously. It looks like it will hit late Friday or early Saturday. So if you were planning on arriving on Friday or Saturday you can forget it. They have already announced closiers of area airports.

I just tried to call WDW to reconfirm my reservation for tomorrow. They have a message saying there are no rooms available at any of the resort hotels for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They will not penalize anyone for cancelling if the reservations were made through WDW or WDW Travel. I realized that it would take forever to get through, so I'm just going to hope.

I would strongly advise those of you thinking of coming down this weekend to call and cancel your reservations for this weekend. There are many people from this area needing hotel accomodations. Please don't just be a no-show. Your cancellation could really help some people in desperate need of a room.

I am so sorry for all of you who have to cancel your plans :( ..... and I do agrees with Feralpeg ..... this is a time to step up and help others ..... I am sure you will be able to come another time and enjoy the trip ..... but the locals need your help right now.

peace,

PG
