WDW tapped into 911

national average for an ambulance to get to a res. (in city limits) is about 8 minutes...I dont know about outlaying areas

I agree that cameras are everywhere. We had an experience in DL last year when we were returning to the DLH about 10:30PM. There were a group of teens in front of us horsing around and being obnoxious. This was a fairly quiet and dark area and we were the only 2 groups of people around. They were walking and jumping on each others back, giving piggy backs etc... when one girl knocked a guy down and she went flying pretty much over him, flat on her face onto the ground. Within seconds a "suit" was there. Someone must have been watching them. :thumbsup2

we also saw an incident at the new ride Everest. there was a child in the shop where you exit. A lady brought him from the ride and put him in a wheelchair and brought him inside the shop. He looks frail, and very very dizzy. soon after several disney officials with walkie talkies showed up and the ambulance showed up and did some tests on him after putting him on the ambulance bed. I hope he is all right. He could not even talk because he was so sweaty and dizzy. He seemed about 10 years old.

Disney does react very fast to emergencies.

The strange thing is we were also at MGM the day the Child died on Rock n Roller Coaster. That was awful. We also went the next day since rock n roller coaster was closed for the day and it was empty thru out the day. no wait. we were there in the middle of the afternoon and we walked right in. no fast passes needed.

Disney has 2 fire/ambulance stations that I have seen on property. One is near SSR and the other is near CBR. There may be others that I have not seen. The one near SSR has some really cool architecture.

There is a third behind the MK.

1) Just to clarify.
2) If you dial 911, you go DIRECTLY to Reedy Creek EMS/Fire.
3) You by-pass ALL hotel-resort-park phone systems.
4) An emergency cannot wait for people to answer then to transfer calls.
5) I have seen this after midnight as well as during the day.
6) The responses are just as fast, regardless of time.

NOTE: As a past volunteer fireman and volunteer paramedic, I can tell you these guys and gals really and MOVE OUT when there is a call. I am sure it is part Disney, but most fire/EMS people have a unique dedication to their calling. Regardless of broken foot, heart problems or just a sick child in the middle of the night, they come running.

Hi all,
I'm glad to see see got the help that was needed quick!!As others have said, i'm thinking that the manager must have saw here fall on camera or something and thats why he showed up so quick,as for 911 calls there is no call fowarding, when you call 911 you get 911 call center.here in nyc,911 calls are private and hush/hush for EMS and FDNY,In order to listen to one you need to have a court order for the 'tapes"of the 911 call. However once the court order is written thats how the media can get a copy.In nyc 911 calls are dispatched over a e-cad(emergency computer assist dispatch)you coulod have a scanner and be listening and never have any clue that your next door neighbor called 911 untill you see us pull up and ring thier bell. This system believe it or not does not need power at all to work.Sitting in the fire house we will hear a tone and know thats for us,sometimes after the tone it says "batt chief or engine"whatever is said is the unit being called,at this point the e-cad system has already "spit" out a run sheet, this gives us all the info on the call,Once in the rig the on board computer keeps us updated,It has been done like this since the early 80's.Ems is done like this as well, imagine you or your loved one has Aids or a std or just got done snorting coke and overdose's you don't want your next door neighbor with a scanner to hear why FDNY or EMS is going to your house. Its private info of yours.

Also in nyc the laws are very clear,Your in a dept store slip and fall and 911 is called so they send 1 FDNY engine company and EMS and we get there and the owner of the store whats to have the victims info for his own records,by law i don't have to and cannot tell the owner of the store a single thing other than my badge number, unless of course the victim chooses to tell the owner his or her self. The owner can rant and rave that he has a right to know the victims info or injurys cause it's his store, but by law there is no such right. The hippa law is very clear on this,If the victims does not want the owner to know anything then we can't tell him a single thing, other than the victim will most likely live or die.You be surprised how many store managers or owners have such a problem with this.We cannot even give them the first name of the victim, without the victims permission.I figure you guys might be interested in this and i was boerd so there it is "FDNY/EMS/NYPD 101"

here in nyc,911 calls are private and hush/hush for EMS and FDNY,In order to listen to one you need to have a court order for the 'tapes"of the 911 call.

I guess this is why I alweays thought 911 calls were private, since I'm a NYC girl. I couldn't explain why I thought so, but just sort of "knew".

As the Rusty Scupper stated in his first response...

While you are on the phone with the 911 operater (from reedy creek, not Orange county) they are dispatching an emergency unit to you. As soon as a unit is dispatched there is an ALL CALL that goes out over the locations radios (anyone on the hotel frequency that has a radio) that says Attention all units these frequencies, ambulance/engine (insert # here) responding code (whatever) to "said location" for an injury (or whatever the need is for)" the next call is immediatley to the duty manager (or manager for that location depending on where you are) asking if they copied the call at which time they are required to respond to the location. There is not a video camera that they were watching, there is not a direct link to the front desk from the phone based off of 911 being called, it is all done by the nextel radios.

As mentioned Disney is GREAT responding to these needs, day or night.

I think the cameras and/or the "suits" are watching .

I know this for a fact...Dec. 31st we were at MGM with the 5 cherubs. DD, 8, wanted to go into Playhouse Disney...the 3 boys opted out and as she is my baby we said yes go ahead. DD, then 15, sat with her on the floor while DH & I sat on a bench directly behind them. The place was not even close to full but the CM kept forcing people to move up. Older DD said the guy behind her was practically sitting on top of her and of course kids get up dance and move around. At the end DH is helping me up, I have bad knees, and DD-8 comes over crying that something is wrong with Emily. OK...the place was not even 1/2 full and most of them were gone...we bolted up front to find her surrounded by several CM's. She had gotten up and fallen back down, foot asleep, and ended up a bad fracture in her wrist. They ushered us backstage where more CM's, security, and managers showed up---here is the kicker. One of the managers asked me if I wanted him to go find my 3 boys. Now I am in lala land, my daughters are crying and I am trying not to panic it was like watching a movie...all of a sudden it kicks in what he just said to me. He knew we had 3 other kids and they were all boys no less that were not with us! I laughed at him commenting that Disney really does have eyes all over. He looks very stern but smiles. I said to my husband later, how many other fat woman wearing white knee pain patches walking around with 5 kids were there that day...oh yeah that and the fact that DS,10, had decorated said pain patches with his version of mickey mouse in blue ink! :rotfl:

Oh yeah and for all of those that may be wondering we did not sue, did not complain except about almost losing my Fantasmic Package because DH was 10 minutes late coming back from ER with DD, and I did not ask for a comp or otherwise. :wizard: :rotfl:

They have 4 stations and are building a 5th one right now. The 2 that you mentioned ,the one behind MK and someone else said and there is one by the All Stars. I can't remember off hand where the new one is going.

Unfortunately we had to call 911 during our trip last Sept. My then 11 month old was a new walker and fell into the door hinge in our room at POFQ - a direct hit on his forehead. He instantly had a HUGE goose egg and I was watching it get bigger and bigger. :confused3
My dh called 911 and within minutes we had 2 security officers and a couple "suits" at our door. It took a couple more minutes for the paramedics to show up. Everyone was really nice and of course concerned about my baby. The paramedics checked him over and told me what to watch for etc. The security officers gave my older kids junior security stickers which they loved.
It was scary but I felt that Disney acted quickly and wanted to make sure we were taken care of. My little guy had a purple bump on his head in most of the pictures for that trip :sad2:

No, I doubt that they are 'listening in' to the calls; as I stated, many major hotel companies have an alert/alarm which rings at the switchboard whenever a call is placed to 911. This allows the property to respond along with 911.
