I think we are going to be heading to the world in August, and I am just wondering what ya'll wear in that kind of heat?

I spend most of my summer days in capris here in WNY, so I'm thinking either shorts or skorts?

And where would be the best place to buy those items? I'm at a loss......I was in Target today and saw a few "workout" skorts in that funky sweat wicking fabric, but when I held a pair up, they seem very short. KWIM???

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas / suggestions...........

We're going in June and I am wearing tank tops and shorts everyday. I may put on a skirt or sundress for dinner.

I'm originally from WNY, now I live in Niagara Falls, Canada. I am going in the end of June and plan to do the tank top and short thing, I think the heat will seem unbearable otherwise. Target is getting their summer stuff in already, in fact last week I got a pair of shorts on clearance...can you believe it? If you don't want to waste too much money on stuff you wouldn't wear otherwise, check out walmart...they usually have some cotton knit pieces, pretty inexpensive...have fun!!!

Any of the "work-out" type clothes that are fast drying and wick moisture away are best imo. I purchased the target brand because it was cheaper than the sports stores.

Last year I purchased something similar at Walmart. I think they were called tennis skorts. They were a comfy athletic-type fabric with spandex shorts underneath. They are long enough for me (a few inches above the knee) and very comfortable/breatheable. I bought them for our Disney trip (around $10 each) and wound up buying another one and wore them all summer. They even have little zip-pockets for your room key. ;)

I haven't seen them out in the Walmart near me yet, but I would assume they should have something similar this season.

Try Old Navy. I was in there the other day, and there was a lot of cute summer stuff for reasonable prices.

We were there in August 2007 and wore shorts & t-shirts. Make sure you pack enough clothes or have access to a washer/dryer. We found we went through at least two full changes of clothes a day.

I have some swim shorts/skirts that I bought at LL Bean which I love. They shed water/moisture and dry extremely quickly.

Remember to take plenty of socks and several pairs of shoes.

We have found that tennis shoes do not dry over night after walking in an afternoon rain shower. It is no fun to put on soggy tennis shoes in the morning.

I would suggest wearing a little as possible :rolleyes1 Seroiusly the less material and the lighter it is the better. If you have never been to the south before it is going to be like being under a wet blanket for you, especially in August. Lots of people underestimate it. It is not so mch the heat as the humidity. You will be drenched with sweat continually as long as you are outdoors. You do not want to be ocverd in lots of sticky fabric. Shorts and tanks will probably work best. Take plenty of water to the parks and stay hydrated.

I spent 8 days last september in walking shorts, tank tops and a pair of Crocs Capri sandals. In the evening I typically wore a sundress.
