WDW stay and DCL transfer and PAT

We're staying at WDW before our cruise. We have a DCL transfer, but the resort stay was not booked through DCL. Do we still choose a PAT when we check in?

Also, it's been several years since we did a cruise, so I can't recall. Does DCL send documentation before the cruise for the transfers? Do I have to sign in or do anything at the resort?

Yes, you still choose a PAT, though with resort transfers, you'll most likely be arriving when it's general boarding. I usually pick an early PAT and hope for the best. DCL will send you your luggage tags ahead of time, but don't put those on until you're at the resort. You will receive a letter in your resort room the evening before your cruise letting you know when and where to meet for the DCL bus. They will pick your luggage up from your room and that info will be in that letter as well. Have fun.

We always take DCL transfers from the resort and we always pick about 1 pm as our PAT. Open boarding is usually about 12:30-ish or so and I figure there's no point in taking an earlier PAT away from someone as you are not likely to arrive before open boarding. We actually prefer to arrive at that time because there are no lines, you walk right on and then right to your stateroom. Drop the carryon and then head for lunch (actually we usually unpack those bags, check our port adventure tickets, go to Guest Services to get tickets for the various tastings/mixology classes/etc. before going to lunch).
