For those that typically visit WDW in the Winter Months, particularly December and January: how often, if ever, do you utilize the resort pools during those months? Obviously weather plays a big part in the conversation here, but "warm enough to swim" is a bit subjective, so I'm just curious. 🤔🙂

I'd bet the answers will be partially dependent on where people live. When we used to come from Massachusetts, we'd be splashing around in the pool, having a grand time, while the life guards (mostly local) would be sitting, wearing heavy winter jackets, looking at us like we were nuts. Now that we live in a climate that's usually hotter than Florida, I'm freezing cold if I go to WDW in January.

When you posted the poll I was expecting the answers to be related to how many days we swim during the trip; I guess I’m built differently lol. I’ve gone swimming multiple times anytime I’ve gone with trips in Nov Dec and Jan. I actually feel like it’s enjoyable with it being cold out and water warm. I will say the beach club slide was bit brutal when it was extra cold in January one time though lol.

Yeah lol I guess I left the options quite broad for those who wanted to elaborate/get more specific but your answer would definitely fit the top category! We're planning on trips during this time over the next few years on a regular basis an am suddenly realizing "how much use are we actually going to get out of Stormalong Bay with it being the cooler months?" :-)

Makes a ton of sense and really depends how you handle temp. I feel it’s really nice swimming after parks when cold out and feel the pools hold heat well. The warm water/cold air combo is really relaxing to me. Though getting out after or trying to use the slide and such can snap you out of it a bit lol.

My kids are northerners and clearly are tougher than me. We swam in Stormalong Bay twice last January. They would have gone more but I told them it was too cold for me (and I didn’t trust their solo swimming yet). The water temperature did not feel warm. My feet and hands definitely lost feeling. The hot tub was sweet relief.

Have to agree. We usually go to WDW or DLR in December. My kids and now grandkids were usually the only ones in the pools. Of course we come from Seattle so it was just a summer day to them!

We do trips to WDW often in the winter months to get out of the cold of the northeast. There's seldom a trip that goes by (Dec, Jan, or Feb) where we're not at the pools multiple days of the trip. A couple years back the entire week was too cold, but that's an exception based on our years of doing these trips. We actually enjoy the pools in the winter because they tend to be busy, but not overcrowded like warmer times of the year......

The kids and I swim almost everyday no matter the time of year. We had one trip in which the temps got down to the mid-30's and we still enjoyed the pool. We had it to our self one night! We didn't use the slide for those chilly nights though.

I hear that! That's at least the plan for us coming from Michigan to get out of the cold. Good to know the pools at least aren't overcrowded. :-)

Swimming outside in the mid 30s?! My innards are cold just thinking about this.🥶Maybe if I had my hooded wetsuit, booties, and gloves….

I will say, this gives me a chuckle. Every time we swim in December, the only folks in the pool are from New England, Great Lakes states, or Canada, LOL. Always fun, friendly conversations with them in the deserted pools and busy hot tubs.
Sometimes chatting with life guards wearing winter coats, praying no one needs them to jump into the pool for assistance!

i visited the end of January this year. Saturday it was 83° and I swam. It was great. On Wednesday evening I had a winter coat on at MK (56° ish with 15 mph wind). On Thursday I sat at the pool all day in shorts and it was also lovely but no swimming. Year before in January we had one day of 83° and enjoyed swimming that day.
