wdw phone number for wait times at attractions

Does anyone know what the phone number is that you can call
to find out what the current wait times and fastpass times are for attractions?

I read about this somewhere and can't find it now.

Even if it exists, I'm not sure it would work? I mean, unless you were calling from inside a park, about an attraction in that park - by the time you got to wherever, wouldn't the wait time have changed drastically?

I finally gave in and called WDW myself and asked them about the phone # to call for wait times and fast pass info. It does exist! The number is
1-407-WDW-INFO.

The reason I think this information might be useful is suppose, for instance,
that you are on the Frontierland side of the Magic Kingdom and you might
be interested in obtaining a Fastpass or standing in line for Space Mountain.
You drag the kids all the way to the other side of the park only to discover that
the Fastpasses are gone, the wait is longer than you care to endure, or
the ride is closed! It could save a lot of walking and disappointment if you
can call this number in advance to check the status. (Of course everything
could change by the time you walk over there. That is understood.)

Also, if everyone in the park knew about this number, I would think the phone lines would be so jammed, it would do no good! LOL!
But apparently, few people know about it since I got right through and the lady on the phone was very nice about giving out the information. They call it their "tip board". I thought I would share this information here, though, since everyone has been so helpful to me.

I've seen that number before but not for that purpose. Are you sure it works that way?

It doesn't look like anyone is having any luck with it.

I just called. It's basically a gateway to reservations, etc. You can also find out operating hours for each of the parks, times for parades and fireworks, etc but there are no options anywhere that I could find to hear attraction wait times.
